  1. Thanks Jorge, That was it, Removing the daisychain from the controllers, and only connecting 1 controller allowed me to mount disks on the shelf.
  2. Hi, I recently picked up a disk shelf, and have been trying to add a disk attached to the shelf, but the machine just hangs on 'starting array' checking the log I see : Mar 7 19:31:25 outland root: mount: /mnt/disk7: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/md7p1, missing codepage or helper program, or other error. Mar 7 19:31:25 outland kernel: REISERFS warning (device md7p1): sh-2021 reiserfs_fill_super: can not find reiserfs on md7p1 Mar 7 19:31:25 outland emhttpd: shcmd (328): exit status: 32 Mar 7 19:31:25 outland emhttpd: /mnt/disk7 mount error: Unsupported or no file system Mar 7 19:31:25 outland emhttpd: shcmd (329): rmdir /mnt/disk7 Which made me try and reformat and clear the disk again, Thoguh this didn't change anything. however I could mount and write to the disk by using unassigned devices to mount it, I tried using another dis, and another slot on the shelf with the same issue. so it's clearly something to do with the pipline to the shelf. I'm using one of these bad boys https://www.ebay.com/itm/386752571587 , and the shelf is is a dell md1200, Oddities about this setup: - I'm using a convertor to take the SFF-8643 to SFF-8088 - The shelf has 2 controllers that I am daisy chaining the SFF-8088 to, insteaad of both being connected to my raid card. Additionally checking DMESG shows that the disk is constantlly flipping between /dev/sdm and /dev/sdn: root@outland:~# dmesg | grep sdm [ 56.873300] sd 12:0:0:0: [sdm] 19134414848 512-byte logical blocks: (9.80 TB/8.91 TiB) [ 56.876230] sd 12:0:0:0: [sdm] 4096-byte physical blocks [ 56.882537] sd 12:0:0:0: [sdm] Write Protect is off [ 56.889065] sd 12:0:0:0: [sdm] Mode Sense: f7 00 10 08 [ 56.896967] sd 12:0:0:0: [sdm] Write cache: disabled, read cache: enabled, supports DPO and FUA [ 56.905427] sd 12:0:0:0: [sdm] Enabling DIF Type 2 protection [ 56.918114] sdm: sdm1 [ 56.922539] sd 12:0:0:0: [sdm] Attached SCSI disk [ 108.699968] mdcmd (8): import 7 sdm 64 9567207372 0 HUH721010AL5104_7PGP84LG_35000cca24116b288 [ 108.699973] md: import disk7: (sdm) HUH721010AL5104_7PGP84LG_35000cca24116b288 size: 9567207372 [ 128.124674] mdcmd (8): import 7 sdm 64 9567207372 0 HUH721010AL5104_7PGP84LG_35000cca24116b288 [ 128.124691] md: import disk7: (sdm) HUH721010AL5104_7PGP84LG_35000cca24116b288 size: 9567207372 [ 134.177892] mdcmd (8): import 7 sdm 64 9567207372 0 HUH721010AL5104_7PGP84LG_35000cca24116b288 [ 134.177897] md: import disk7: (sdm) HUH721010AL5104_7PGP84LG_35000cca24116b288 size: 9567207372 [ 140.295105] mdcmd (8): import 7 sdm 64 9567207372 0 HUH721010AL5104_7PGP84LG_35000cca24116b288 [ 140.295111] md: import disk7: (sdm) HUH721010AL5104_7PGP84LG_35000cca24116b288 size: 9567207372 [ 146.060933] mdcmd (8): import 7 sdm 64 9567207372 0 HUH721010AL5104_7PGP84LG_35000cca24116b288 [ 146.060938] md: import disk7: (sdm) HUH721010AL5104_7PGP84LG_35000cca24116b288 size: 9567207372 [ 152.038044] mdcmd (8): import 7 sdm 64 9567207372 0 HUH721010AL5104_7PGP84LG_35000cca24116b288 [ 152.038052] md: import disk7: (sdm) HUH721010AL5104_7PGP84LG_35000cca24116b288 size: 9567207372 root@outland:~# dmesg | grep sdn [ 56.935445] sd 12:0:2:0: [sdn] 19134414848 512-byte logical blocks: (9.80 TB/8.91 TiB) [ 56.941179] sd 12:0:2:0: [sdn] 4096-byte physical blocks [ 56.947633] sd 12:0:2:0: [sdn] Write Protect is off [ 56.954130] sd 12:0:2:0: [sdn] Mode Sense: f7 00 10 08 [ 56.961326] sd 12:0:2:0: [sdn] Write cache: disabled, read cache: enabled, supports DPO and FUA [ 56.970797] sd 12:0:2:0: [sdn] Enabling DIF Type 2 protection [ 56.983893] sdn: sdn1 [ 56.986229] sd 12:0:2:0: [sdn] Attached SCSI disk [ 125.141249] mdcmd (8): import 7 sdn 64 9567207372 0 HUH721010AL5104_7PGP84LG_35000cca24116b288 [ 125.141254] md: import disk7: (sdn) HUH721010AL5104_7PGP84LG_35000cca24116b288 size: 9567207372 [ 131.109276] mdcmd (8): import 7 sdn 64 9567207372 0 HUH721010AL5104_7PGP84LG_35000cca24116b288 [ 131.109281] md: import disk7: (sdn) HUH721010AL5104_7PGP84LG_35000cca24116b288 size: 9567207372 [ 137.078648] mdcmd (8): import 7 sdn 64 9567207372 0 HUH721010AL5104_7PGP84LG_35000cca24116b288 [ 137.078653] md: import disk7: (sdn) HUH721010AL5104_7PGP84LG_35000cca24116b288 size: 9567207372 [ 143.185257] mdcmd (8): import 7 sdn 64 9567207372 0 HUH721010AL5104_7PGP84LG_35000cca24116b288 [ 143.185265] md: import disk7: (sdn) HUH721010AL5104_7PGP84LG_35000cca24116b288 size: 9567207372 [ 149.031202] mdcmd (8): import 7 sdn 64 9567207372 0 HUH721010AL5104_7PGP84LG_35000cca24116b288 [ 149.031210] md: import disk7: (sdn) HUH721010AL5104_7PGP84LG_35000cca24116b288 size: 9567207372 [ 155.048059] mdcmd (8): import 7 sdn 64 9567207372 0 HUH721010AL5104_7PGP84LG_35000cca24116b288 [ 155.048066] md: import disk7: (sdn) HUH721010AL5104_7PGP84LG_35000cca24116b288 size: 9567207372 root@outland:~# Unfortuneately it got far enough in the process to cause a disk to be created, and now I'm plus a drive I can't fill. Please also see attached diagnostics. Not really sure what could be causing this, but it's clearly isolated to the disk shelf. the thing that throws me off is that I can mount and write with unassigned disks, mdcmd must be doing something it doesn't like. If the daisy chain were the problem, I imagine I wouldn't have been able to pre-clear the device @ 245 Mb/s... Any advice would be appropriated, (Or a suggestion if I should figure out how to remove the un joinable disk slot first) outland.azaroth.phila-diagnostics-20240307-1950.zip
  3. I'm also having this issue. It never brings up the setup wizard, and just acts like I've logged directly onto plex.tv, Completely skipping the whole setup processes Edit: On second read, it might not be a similar issue, I'm able to access https://[unraidDNS]:32400 It brings me to the auth page on plex.tv, I sign in and dumps me to the home page Solution Edit: After more googling I forced it to go to the setup page, and got: 'Setup is not allowed for shared servers.' After googling that it led me to the below reddit post which fixed my problem. I'm assuming this is because I messed something up with my local network / domain / dns that isn't, playing nice with Plex https://www.reddit.com/r/PleX/comments/4qvb8m/plex_media_server_error_setup_is_not_allowed_for/?utm_term=28594693650&utm_medium=comment_embed&utm_source=embed&utm_name=b5a17b36-7d19-11eb-9b0b-0e7796e5dc97&utm_content=footer Just in case the thread gets deleted: Create an SSH tunnel (disclaimer I did this on linux not windows) ssh [email protected] -L 10000:localhost:32400 open your browser up to: http://localhost:10000/web/ I was able to perform the setup as expected and now I can access the server from my laptop as usual.
