  1. Is there an efficient "google like" indexing app/docker that I can point at certain disks/shares for quick GUI search from my internal network? I just want to be able to find files from the few gazillion that I have aquired over the years. Is should be able to search WITHIN files, like word docs, pdfs, etc for keywords.

    Thx

Have you tried removing the plugin and then reinstalling it?   After that log into Connect from each server in turn to get that servers licence registered.

If that fails you should then contact support for help.   You should also do this if you are missing one of your licence files and cannot get it from connect.

Two of the servers are not running ahd have not been for a while. I had some surgery and have not had time to deal with them. Per your suggestion, I removed the plugin from the one that is running and tired to reinstall. I got this:

plugin: installing: dynamix.unraid.net.plg Executing hook script: pre_plugin_checks plugin: downloading: dynamix.unraid.net.plg ... plugin: dynamix.unraid.net.plg download failure: Network failure Executing hook script: post_plugin_checks

All I really want to do it get my licenses so I can rebuild the two that are down and then replace the one that is running with new hardware after moving the data from the one running server.

I just sent a note to support. Thx

  3. After an upgrade about 6 months ago unraid connect stopped working. I havent worried because Ive been busy. I cant log in to the licensing area. I can log into admin through one of the servers but it only shows 1 basic license. I have three PRO licenses. How do I get this fixed so I can rebuild a server? Thanks

    Still nothing relevant logged.

Well, I do not know the cause is but for the lase 1/2 day, and having turned off the cache drive usage on thiose shares, I have been moving data around like a MAD MAN with no issues. So it definately seems like an issue with cache drive usage. Not sure why because like I said I moved the cache around (there are 4) regular and SSD. Cound be HW relaed and once I have some time I have an identical server just sitting there I will swap the Boot disk and see if it matters and report back. Ill give it a day or two to confirm before I mark it solved but I am still curious about the causes. Thanks for your time.

    Done

    Interesting side notes:

1: Turned off cache for those drives and just moved 6 TB of data across drives without incident. This would not have been possible before without crashing.

2: I had moved the cache around between drives to see if it made a difference and it still crashed. Not saying its fixed but it seems better.

3: Never had this problem on my home built server, just these proliants. It may have something to do with the internal slots holding the cache drives, but I dunno enough about it to try and figure it out.

Ill keep moving data for a bit and see if it stays running and report back in a few days.

No - I had already rebooted so the share was showing when I took the diagnostics. When it happens again, I will immediately grab a new one before rebooting.  I have also just renamed the shares to simplify them with disticnt names. Not sure that was an issue but I remember reading a post about share names needing to be a certain way w/o special characters so I guess it couldnt hurt.

Took a few days but it just crashed.  I went right to diagnostic and it froze here on this line.

    unraid-api report | todos >'/mediavault2-diagnostics-20220919-1014/system/unraid-api.txt'

Then the downloading diagnostics window just closed and Nothing downloaded.

So I had to reboot to get a diagnostic.

Not what I was asking, and maybe you already answered, but just wanted to clarify.

I guess MV2_Backup_Share is the other share that looks the same anonymized.

Diagnostics shows MV2_TVShow_Share with files on disks 1,2,3,4

These diagnostics were taken when that share wasn't showing on the User Shares page?

This scrrenshot was taken after  reboot. When the share drops from the network, the TVShow share would not be listed here at all.

Would renaming the shares fix this problem?I name them this way to differentiate server shares. I have Mediavault1, MediaVault2,

Hard to tell from diagnostics since the share names are anonymized, but there are 2 shares with names that have that same first and last character and are that same length, and they both have contents. I wonder if you don't have 2 shares with the same name but different upper/lower case. Since linux is case-sensitive, these would be different shares to Unraid, but since SMB isn't case-sensitive, only one of these would show up on the network.

Post a screenshot of User Shares page.

Not seeing anything logged that would explain that, how do you lose access to that share?

While copying files, i get a notification in windows that says the share is unavailable. If I click on the share it just freezes for a while and then gives me the same notification. Then If I go into unraid shares page that share is missing but all the other ones are there.

Not necessarily related to your problem, but your appdata and system shares have files on the array. You want these all on a fast pool and configured to stay there so Docker performance isn't affected by slower array, and so array disks can spin down since these files are always open.

You do have a number of .cfg files in config/shares on flash that no longer correspond to any user shares but that isn't unusual since they aren't deleted when a share is.

I don't see anything that would indicate anything wrong.

    Thanks  Ill move those.

MV2_TVShow_Share is the one currently that keeps dropping off.. Seems to happen when writing lots of data from multiple computers. Since I use this as a backup server you see why this can be an issue.

  12. Has anyone discovered the solution to when UNRAID individual shares become unavailable when other shares are fine. Reboot seems to fix the problen but annoying none the less.

Ive come across a bunch of posts about it but nothing difinitive.

    Thanks

  13. Curiosity Question:

SO, NEW SERVER, and for some reason shares were basically unusable to either of my macs. It took so long to even open a share that the finder crashed. Windows transfers were mostly fine but just a little slower than my other server. I The share name was "-Media Files" and I was trying to access a subfolder name -Movies. File transfers to the mac were basically impossible.

After screwing around with the settings for a few days, I created a new share named "Movies" and used Krusader to move the files to the new share. Transfers are now fine.

So I am curious as to if the file name could have had something to do with the slow transfers for could there be another simpler reason. Is it possible that the share was simply corrupted somehow?

The problem is fixed but I am just curious as to what might have caused slow transfers from the mac but not the windows box.

    Thanks for any input.

Hey everyone, I have my unraid server running on my HP DL380p Gen 8. A few weeks ago I had a power outage, and ever since then the fans have been stuck at full speed. The fans work normally during post, and the entire boot process, but as soon as it boots to unraid, they ramp up all the way. I downloaded the IPMI tools plugin, and the fans are not detected. Occasionally I am able to get the fans to stop with a random combination of reboots and uninstalling and reinstalling plugins, but it always only lasts a few minutes at most. The only thing that consistently stops them is if I reset iLO, but that still only works for about as long as it takes for iLO to finish rebooting. I've tried updating iLO, resetting the BIOS, and rebuilding my unraid boot drive (unrelated issue, it actually got corrupted). Curious if anyone's seen this before or knows how to resolve it

Did you ever figure this out? I have the exact same server with the same problem. thx

Yes: Thats what I mean. Im just monkeying around on a new server right now, but it seems that if I copy files to a share using a cache drive, then I change the cache drive for that share to a different one before the mover has moved them, they just stay there on the old cache drive.

I think in my case, I did the following: I was trying to compare write speeds HD vs SSD.

copy files to a share using an HD cache drive using krusader

stopped server to add an SSD (before the move was completed)

changed the cache drive for that same share to the SSD.

When I started the server and invoked the mover, the files never moved from the old cache drive.

I could go into Krusader and copy them again and it did so using the new SSD cache but the other files were left on the old HD cache.

This confused me because I assumed the files would be moved to the final destination once the server started again even though the cache drive had changed which is whay I suggessted a clean-up option. If I had not been paying attention I would have not copied the files again assuming that they had already been moved.

I am confused as to exactly what you are asking for.   If you have changed the cache drive then the files on it are no longer available to be moved/cleaned up.

  17. A button to clean up the cache drive and move stuff where it was supposed to go before you changed the cache drive.

It may already do something like this but it seems to me that if I change the cache drive before the mover has moved everything it just leaves the files that have not been moved where they are.

  18. Is Krusader still the prefered GUI file manager. I thought I read somewhere that it had been abandoned. It seems a bit buggier than I remember it now that Im moving terabytes of files. Just curious.
