OK, I will re-allocate them as cache drives and start a transfer. Its a holiday here so I might not get to it until tomorrow. Im curious if it will reproduce as well.

Got a weird one. New Server Build: AMD Ryzen 5 5600G with Radeon Graphics @ 3900 MHz 32 GB Memory 1 8TB Parity Drive (Barracuda) 6 8TB Data Drives (Barracuda) 2 4TB Cache Drives (Barracuda Brought up server and began copying Data over from Ext USB JBod Cabinet Data copied at normal speeds and once they were about 75% I invoked the mover. Mover runs at about 100+ MB/s for a few minutes and then crawls down to about 1 or 2 MB/s and stays there. I did a bunch or other things like unloading all plugins, dockers, etc, reboots, etc. Same thing happened every boot. Replaced all SATA cables. Same thing. Replaced 12 port Sata card that was 1X with a new 4x card. Same thing. Got frustrated and decided that maybe the 2 4TB drives were defective. I removed the two 4TB cache drives, pointed all shares at “array”, copied system data over and rebooted. System Then ran like a champ, copying data straight to array ran about between 125 - 180 MB/s and stayed there. Out of curiosity, I mounted the two 4TB drives back as unassigned and started copying the data over. RUNS like a champ at 120 - 200MB/s. SO obviously, NOT a hardware/drive issue. Finally, the question: What would cause a drive mounted as cache to run so slow and normally when taken out of the cache pool. Reboots solve the issue briefly but then it slows down over a few minutes. Im guessing that there is something clogging resources that builds up while using the mover and stays there. Not sure as I have not been a programmer in about thirty years but it seems like resources are slowly being consumed. Yes, I can upload a log file if you want but since it’s running great right now, I doubt it would contain relevant data. Anyone got any ideas? Since this system is primarily for data storage and an over powered just for that, I don't really need a cache drive, but it might come in handy for dockers and the like. I appreciate any ideas or comments.

Good morning: I have a server where the drives are all on an external USB array. I am setting up a new server with internal drives and want to copy the data over to the new server. If I shut down the first server and plug the USB array into the new server, will the drives show up as unassigned where I can just mount them and copy the data over to the new server? I assume this will be faster than over the network and that as unassigned drives I can always just plug it back into the original server? Thanks

Hello: Just wanted to confirm. What's the easiest/Best way to reset a USB Key from an existing server as if a new setup, without screwing around with licensing? I want to retire an existing server and set up a new one on different hardware/new name/drives, etc. I know that the new config resets the drives but leaves all of the config info/dockers / apps. etc. If I copy the key file or download the key using Connect, and then recreate the USB from scratch and then just copy the key file back, will this work? Thank you

I didnt know it had scheduled maint. Nothing in the editor specifies this. appdate backup is the only scheduled event.

Essentially just a big ole file server so not a lot of custom scripts. The only thing on it at the moment is plex. Appdate backup didn't have a time but I added one (thx) where would custom scripts be located?

from what I can tell, it's set to back up weekly and no specific time is set. This happens every morning at 2.

So if I am watching a movie using plex, every morning at exactly 2 am, plex stops and I have to log in a start it again. Is there a way to tell what's happening at 2am that causes this? There is nothing in the logs that I can see. Kinda funny but annoying. Thx

Is there an efficient "google like" indexing app/docker that I can point at certain disks/shares for quick GUI search from my internal network? I just want to be able to find files from the few gazillion that I have aquired over the years. Is should be able to search WITHIN files, like word docs, pdfs, etc for keywords. Thx

Two of the servers are not running ahd have not been for a while. I had some surgery and have not had time to deal with them. Per your suggestion, I removed the plugin from the one that is running and tired to reinstall. After an upgrade about 6 months ago unraid connect stopped working. I havent worried because Ive been busy. I cant log in to the licensing area. I can log into admin through one of the servers but it only shows 1 basic license. I have three PRO licenses. How do I get this fixed so I can rebuild a server? Thanks

Well, I do not know the cause is but for the lase 1/2 day, and having turned off the cache drive usage on thiose shares, I have been moving data around like a MAD MAN with no issues. So it definately seems like an issue with cache drive usage. Not sure why because like I said I moved the cache around (there are 4) regular and SSD. Cound be HW relaed and once I have some time I have an identical server just sitting there I will swap the Boot disk and see if it matters and report back. Ill give it a day or two to confirm before I mark it solved but I am still curious about the causes. Thanks for your time.

Interesting side notes: 1: Turned off cache for those drives and just moved 6 TB of data across drives without incident. This would not have been possible before without crashing. 2: I had moved the cache around between drives to see if it made a difference and it still crashed. Not saying its fixed but it seems better. 3: Never had this problem on my home built server, just these proliants. It may have something to do with the internal slots holding the cache drives, but I dunno enough about it to try and figure it out. Ill keep moving data for a bit and see if it stays running and report back in a few days.

Got one - Was coppying about 12 GB of data to from one directory to another. This is right after crash and before reboot. Thanks for the look see. syslog

Took a few days but it just crashed. I went right to diagnostic and it froze here on this line. unraid-api report | todos >'/mediavault2-diagnostics-20220919-1014/system/unraid-api.txt' Then the downloading diagnostics window just closed and Nothing downloaded. So I had to reboot to get a diagnostic. mediavault2-diagnostics-20220919-1037.zip

No - I had already rebooted so the share was showing when I took the diagnostics. When it happens again, I will immediately grab a new one before rebooting. I have also just renamed the shares to simplify them with disticnt names. Not sure that was an issue but I remember reading a post about share names needing to be a certain way w/o special characters so I guess it couldnt hurt.

This scrrenshot was taken after reboot. When the share drops from the network, the TVShow share would not be listed here at all. Would renaming the shares fix this problem?I name them this way to differentiate server shares. I have Mediavault1, MediaVault2,
