  1. For the folks who are actually using the HW defined: X7SPA-HF and Fractal Array case. Are you running UnRaid 4.7 or one of the new 5 betas? Will the scripts in this thread work the same on both releases? I am planning building this exact system and am thinking about starting right off on the latest 5 beta. Cheers!
  2. Beta 8 was mentioned a while back ... Holding breath
  3. Dumb question but since you have already compiled it for 4.5b7 couldn't you just share the compiled version via a torrent or rapidhsare or something so the rest of the community (or maybe just me ) could simply download it and put it in /packages and run it via the go script? I gues what I'm getting at is only one of us should have to go through the pain of compiling it - or do we need a new kernel as well? (since you mentioned having to compile the kernel)
  4. Can someone show me how to load bwm-ng from the go script? I don't use unmenu... I suppose I create a new /boot/applications/ or /boot/packages Drop the files for bwm-ng in there (where do you get them?) and then start via go script But if anyone has done this and could post specifics it would be much appreciated.
  5. I know how to cp the new conf file but do you need to restart the vsftp daemon? if so, how?
  6. I originally built my box using the ASUS P5PE-VM - which after a few weeks the network port failed (see other thread in this forum). Instead of simply replacing it I bought this motherboard instead. So far it seems to work quite well and with four on-board SATA ports and one promise SATA controller you have 8 SATA II ports, and adding one more promise controller will get you up to 12. There is a thread in the Hardware forum about the "Ultimate" un-raid server that tipped me off to it. Seems to work really well. (knock wood) ASUS P5LD2-VM R2.0 $91.18 at Buy.com with Google Checkout Motherboard Capabilities: 4 Onboard Serial ATA II (300MB/s) Ports - Recognized by unRAID 4 PATA Drives Can be Added Onboard (If you want a mixed system) Dual Channel DDR2 Memory Support (DDR2 667) ICH7 I/O Supports Intel 775 Pentium 4 through Core2Duo CPUs Intel Pro Gigabit LAN Intel 950 Integrated Graphics (DirectX 9) PCI Express 16x Slot HD Audio More advanced Intel 945G Chipset 8 USB 2.0 Ports ASUS CrashFree BIOS2 Q-Fan automatic fan RPM control in BIOS (Quiet Operation)
  7. Mine just died as well - took about a month. Anyone have a good NIC card they recommend?
  8. Crap - I just bought this MB. Hope it fares OK.
  9. With the new business model I would suggest a LOT more help with recommened components, how to's, etc. The ability to do a quick pick list of readily available, inexpensive but good, componenets and advice on how to hook stuff up would be really helpful and should mate well with the new approach. The current recommended list is pretty out of date and one has to really comb the forum for build advice. It's challenging...
