[7.2.3] Array refuses to start after update - AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS - WebGUI works
Fixed! The issue was indeed the missing cache device configuration blocking the array start. I set the Cache slots to 0 in the Main tab (effectively removing the defined pool), and the Array started immediately without issues. Thanks for the help!

[7.2.3] Array refuses to start after update - AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS - WebGUI works
Thanks for the suggestion regarding the missing cache device. I followed the instructions: Performed a New Config (Retaining All). Unassigned/Removed the missing cache device from the pool slot. The "Missing Device" error is gone from the Main tab. However, the Array still refuses to start. When I click "Start", the page refreshes (showing "Starting..." briefly), but it immediately reverts to "Stopped". I have attached a fresh Diagnostics ZIP taken after the New Config and the failed start attempt. Could there be something else blocking the mount? Or maybe a plugin issue? eva-diagnostics-20260211-0925.zip

[7.2.3] Array refuses to start after update - AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS - WebGUI works
Hi everyone, I'm running Unraid on a generic Mini PC (Win element M600) with an AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS. After updating to version 7.2.3, I can access the WebGUI and dashboard without issues, but the Array refuses to start. Symptoms: The Dashboard loads correctly. Parity and Data disks (Disk 1, Disk 2) show as "Healthy" regarding SMART, but status is "off-line" (green dot) because the array is stopped. When I press "Start", the page refreshes, but the array stays in the "STOPPED" state. Tailscale is connected and running fine. Hardware: Model: Win element M600 CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS w/ Radeon 780M Graphics OS: Unraid 7.2.3 (Basic) Steps taken: Rebooted the server. Checked BIOS settings (nothing changed). I suspect this might be related to the newer AMD kernel support or a plugin conflict, but I am not sure where to look. I have attached the Diagnostics ZIP file. Thanks for the help! eva-diagnostics-20260210-2007.zip

AMD Radeon 780M iGPU Passthrough help - Win-Element M600 - Windows 11 VM
Hi, I'm trying to set up a Windows 11 VM with full iGPU passthrough on my Win-Element M600 mini PC. I need the VM to use the Radeon 780M for all rendering tasks. Hardware & Soft: CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS w/ Radeon 780M Host: Unraid 7.0.0 BIOS: AMI SR500_P5C2V08 (Dated: 2024-07-29) VM: Q35-9.2, OVMF, Windows 11 Pro The Issue: The Radeon 780M is passed through and visible in Device Manager, but the VM defaults to the virtual QXL/Basic Display adapter for the desktop. When I try to force the Radeon as the primary GPU (using a Virtual Display Driver/Headless), the system becomes unresponsive or the driver throws a Code 43. Goal: I want to disable the virtual QXL completely and have the VM boot and render everything using only the Radeon 780M. What is the recommended XML configuration and boot parameters for the 8845HS/780M on Unraid 7.0 to achieve stable iGPU passthrough without the "Reset Bug"? Thanks in advance! Q35.xml

Disk 1 Disabled - SMART test is clean, what are the next steps?
Hello everyone, I'm looking for some help with an issue on my Unraid server. This morning, I found that Disk 1 has been disabled from my array. I'm not sure why this has happened. I have run a full SMART extended test on the drive, and it came back with no errors reported. I'm unsure what my next steps should be to safely resolve this and bring the disk back online. Could someone please advise me on the proper procedure? I have attached the diagnostics file from my server to this post for you to review. Thank you in advance for your help! How to Increase Processor Speed on UNRAID Server
Hi everyone, I'm running tests on an older UNRAID server with an Intel Core i7-9700 @ 3.00GHz, but it’s currently operating as an Intel® Core™ i7-9700T CPU @ 2.00GHz. Are there any methods to boost the processor speed or optimize performance in this setup? For example, can I adjust BIOS settings, enable turbo boost, or make changes within UNRAID to maximize CPU performance? Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Using RAM Disk as Cache - Alternatives to SSD for Small File Handling
I might not have been precise in my previous message. I'm thinking that creating an additional drive within my UNRAID server using RAM could potentially replace the cache drive used for temporary data during copying. I haven't tested this approach myself, but I'm hesitant to use SSDs for cache due to their limited write endurance, and I worry about premature failures.

Moving License from Damaged Server to New Server - Seeking Detailed Process
"Thank you for the quick response. Unfortunately, I do not have the old USB key or its backup. However, after checking my UNRAID account, I found the order number: 1053048 and the identifier of the old USB drive. I have already prepared a new USB flash drive with the latest version of UNRAID installed. I plan to build a completely new server and would like to transfer my license to this new flash drive. Is it possible to transfer the license to the new USB key using the order number and the old USB drive identifier? Please provide further instructions on how I should proceed in this situation. Thank you for your assistance."

Using RAM Disk as Cache - Alternatives to SSD for Small File Handling
"Hello, I'm exploring options to improve the handling of small files on my UNRAID server and I'm curious about the possibility of using a RAM disk as a cache. It seems that using an SSD for cache purposes can lead to premature wear, especially with frequent small file operations. I'm wondering if a RAM disk could be a viable alternative, offering faster performance for these types of files. Specifically, I'd like to know: Is it possible to configure a RAM disk as a cache drive within UNRAID? If so, are there any plugins or configurations required to achieve this? What are the potential benefits and drawbacks of using a RAM disk as a cache in this scenario? Are there any considerations regarding data loss in the event of a power outage or system crash? Are there users that have already implemented similiar solutions and what are there experiences ? Any insights or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you."

Moving License from Damaged Server to New Server - Seeking Detailed Process
"Hello, I'm facing a frustrating issue with transferring my UNRAID license. My old server experienced a critical failure, and unfortunately, the USB key containing my UNRAID license has been damaged, rendering it unreadable. I'm now in the process of setting up a brand new UNRAID server, and I desperately need to transfer my previously purchased license. Given the circumstances of the damaged USB key, I'm unsure of the best course of action. Could someone please provide a detailed, step-by-step process for transferring my UNRAID license under these conditions? Specifically, I'd like to know: If there's a method to recover the license using my UNRAID account details or license serial number. The exact procedure for initiating a license transfer with a damaged USB key. If contacting UNRAID customer support is necessary, and if so, what information I should prepare. Any potential pitfalls or challenges I might encounter during this process. Any detailed assistance or insights into this process would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance."

Unraid USB Protection: Proposal for Built-in Checksums
Hello Unraid community, I'd like to share my experience related to the recent corruption of my USB drive where my Unraid system was installed. I lost a significant amount of time recovering and reconfiguring the system from scratch. Unraid recommends using reputable manufacturers, but the truth is that all USB drives fail eventually. This made me reflect on the need for built-in additional security mechanisms in Unraid to prevent similar situations. I propose that we consider implementing a function to automatically generate and store checksums of key system files directly on the boot USB drive. In case of detecting file corruption, the system could use these checksums to restore them. Additionally, the fact of restoring a file using a checksum should inform the user about potential failure risks, recommending replacing the drive. There is also the possibility of moving files to another location on the flash drive, but it seems to me that this is managed by the flash drive firmware, to which we do not have access. I understand that Unraid emphasizes simplicity and flexibility, but I believe that introducing such security features would significantly increase system reliability. What do you think? Are there other, better ways to protect against USB failures in Unraid?"

Subject: "Starting mcelog daemon" and "/var/tmp/go: cannot execute binary file: Exec format error" on boot
"Hello everyone, I'm experiencing an issue with my UNRAID server during the boot process. I'm getting the following error messages: Starting mcelog daemon: /usr/sbin/mcelog --daemon /etc/rc.d/rc.local: line 160: /var/tmp/go: cannot execute binary file: Exec format error Problem Description: My UNRAID server is not booting correctly. I'm seeing an error related to the mcelog daemon starting. The crucial error points to a problem with the executable file "/var/tmp/go" on line 160 of "/etc/rc.d/rc.local". The "cannot execute binary file: Exec format error" message suggests a file format incompatibility or file corruption. What I've Tried: (Here, please describe any troubleshooting steps you've already taken, such as restarts, disk checks, etc.) My Configuration: unRAID Server OS version: 6.12.14 Questions: What could be causing this error? How can I resolve the "cannot execute binary file" error for "/var/tmp/go"? Is the mcelog error related to the executable file error? What diagnostic steps can I take to pinpoint the cause of the problem? Has anybody encountered a similar problem, and how was it solved? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you." Tips for Posting: Include screenshots of the error messages if possible. Be responsive to any questions from other users trying to assist you. Ensure you post in the correct section of the UNRAID forum. Before posting, it can be useful to search the unraid forums for similar errors, to see if an answer has already been posted.

Windows 11 Docker (WindowsInDocker) Networking Issues
Hi everyone, I'm a long-time engineer (over 50 years!) and new to Docker. I've always used virtual machines in the past, but yesterday I successfully installed a Windows 11 Docker container (WindowsInDocker). I'm having trouble getting it to communicate with my local network. I have internet access, but I can't see any other devices on my LAN. Out of curiosity, I also installed an MX Linux Docker container, and I'm having the same issue with local network access. I'm also having trouble connecting to the Linux container via RDP using Remmina, but RDP to the Windows container works fine. Can anyone help me troubleshoot these issues? I'm not sure where to start. Thanks in advance!

There a plugin or Docker container available that offers a file cataloging service
Certainly, here's a question you can ask on the UNRAID forum: **Is there a plugin or Docker container available that offers a file cataloging service for the server, or even better, the entire local network? I remember there used to be a program similar to Google search for local networks, but it seems to be unavailable now.**

"No space left on device" error during Docker install, despite free space on disks (screenshots & diagnostics attached)
Hi everyone, I'm running the latest version of Unraid and I'm having trouble installing Docker containers. I get the following error when trying to install: write /var/lib/docker/tmp/GetImageBlob3255216196: no space left on device I've checked the disk space and I see that Docker has 7GB allocated, and there's about 3TB of free space on the disks themselves. I don't understand why Docker can't use the available space. I've attached a screenshot of the error message and a diagnostics zip file. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance for any tips! judyta-diagnostics-20240717-1403.zip
