Hello,
I´d set up an SSD only completely new UnRiad-Server and have a strange SSD behavior...
In short over a 10GB-Network i get around 350 MB/s read speed from my Kingston DC450R which supports up to 560 MB/s (official specs).
I thought thats a little bit low so i hooked up a Samsung 870EVO 1TB SSD today and from that i get around 510 MB/s over the same network...
The rest of the server:
https://geizhals.de/?cat=WL-2923167
The kingston SSD has the newest aviable FW.
So is my Kingston SSD just bullshitting me or is there any extra setting i can try out ??
Worst cas i need to switch from 7.68TB Kingston SSD to 4TB Samsung SSD´s. But i have a hard time to believe that this "read-optimized" data centre SSD from Kingston is so much slower than a consumer one from Samsung.
Thanks in advance!

I built an all nvme ITX unraid server on a z690i with a highpoint technologies AIB allowing 8x nvme drives in my one x16 pcie 5.0 slot. I've filled 8/10 drive bays with 8tb sabrent drives. Expensive. But, crazy fast 80TB tiny NAS of the future. No regrets here.
And can ypu pleas elink me the board / controller ?

For example a Crucial P3 Plus SSD 4TB M.2 begins at 294,- Euro and there a few others at the same price range.
Didn´t really think about used enterprise stuff, will have a look at that, thank you!

Thanks for the answer, 4TB SATA-SSD´s are (right now) more expensive than 4TB M.2 drives here in germany and i can still save the cache drive.
I ordered a PCIe 16x card with 4x M.2 slots and PLX-chip. I will try if this thing has any big compronises.
Since i need at least 16TB at the start with room to upgrade the 6x SATA connectors on most motherboards are not really enough for 4TB SSD´s.

Hello,
I want my Server go all SSD and upgrade to Intel (Quicksync for Plex).
Right now i´m thinking about the Gigabyte Z790 AORUS Master together with an Intel i7 13700K.
The motherboard has 5x M.2 slots which would all be filled with 4TB drives which would give me 16TB + Parity.
Now the big question, how can i add more ? Since i don´t believe (and can´t check) this board can´t use PCIe bifurcation 4x4x4x4 so i can´t use my Asus Hyperdrive card.
As i understand now i need an adapter card with PLX chip and UnRaid can still see and use any drive individual without any problems, ist that right ??
Second question would be if there´s any recommended on ?
I found for example the QNap qm2-4p-384 which can use 4x PCIe 3.0 M.2´s on a single PCIe 8x Port which would mean i can use in total 8x M.2 extra on this board.
Am i right on track so far ??
Thanks in advance!

Try running a live Ubuntu system on both Server and Client machines (using a live boot USB)? That way it rules out or rules in UnRaid OS.
Done, also tops out at ca. 300MB/s.

Hello,
My Problem; Since last week my LAN-Speed was going down from 10GB to 3GB...
I can´t recall any special event besides me turning my cache drive off and later on again.
I now have the exact same speed with my cache drive (Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2TB) on or off.
What i tried so far:
- Another 10GB-Switch (unmanaged)
- Another Cat.6a cable
- Another 10GB network card in my PC and on my UnRaid Server
- Older windows driver
- Completely new UnRaid install on new USB-Stick with no extra settings and no Plugins, Docker etc. and with the only array disk being a NVME drive (Samsung 970 EVO Plus 256GB) with the exact same result.
- Linux (Ubuntu 22.10) instead of windows on my main machine
- Directly attach the server to my pc with 10GB fiber cards without any switch
iPerf and manual file it copy always comes down to around 3 Gbits/sec.
Im really at the end here... Anyone any idea what else i can try ??
The Server worked with full 10GB and the exact same HW for over half a year now.

None?
Really...only textedit should be recommended.
However, if you want to use opencore configurator with the risk of breaking your efi, the version you want to use depends on the opencore bootloader version.
Original macinabox includes opencore v.0.7.7 so opencore configurator 2.55.0.0 should work as expected:
https://mackie100projects.altervista.org/occ-changelog-version-2-55-0-0/
Obviously, if you updated opencore bootloader you should read the configurator changelog and download a version compatible with the version of the bootloader.
Yeah, like i wrote version 2.55.0.0 didn´t really does it for me and i´m not experienced enough to just use textedit...
-
Which exact version of the configurator tool is recommended ?
After the use of the newest one and 2.55.0.0 my Montenary VM just can´t boot anymore...
What "Mac´s" do you use in the configurator ?
Thanks in advance.

Sadly enough no...
Gave up after a few failed attempts, but this is still on my To-Do list...
Are you still giving up ? 🙂

And i can copy them (manually ?), put them in the same place in a completely new machine and it will work exactly like the old one ?

Hello,
I´m playing with UnRaid for 2 days nonstop now and will use it for my company to replace two old servers and an old Synology NAS.
I now understand things like array, parity, cache etc. my two test VM´s (windows server / windows 10) and my share running fine.
BUT what do i need or better what exactly do i need to backup / export in the case of a total failure ?
Is it enough to simple save the VM´s vdisk1.img ?
I´m a little lost in this specific part sind google & co only show me things like backup to a UnRaid server and not the other way around.
And i´m pretty sure there are plugins as well fo my case.
The perfect solution would be a plugin which saves everything needed to my other synology NAS.
Thank you very much in advance !

But thats great to hear!! Thanks
