Advice required re usb flsh drive total failure.
I've been using a Lenovo Tiny M90q for around a year now without issues, and took the plunge to add a PCIe riser card and AQC113 10GBe NIC this weekend..... For background info, I updated to 6.12.15 several weeks earlier, but guess what, don't think I backed up my flash drive.... I will have an older backup, from 6.12.11, but didn't save it to my PC, I saved it to the default location so assume that is on the M90q under Downloads .... Numpty....
I shutdown the M90q today to add the PCIe, and AQC113, but the machine didn't come up..... even tried plugging monitor and keyboard but the machines is trying to boot to PXE as it can't see any USB Flash...... I've tried the Flash drive in a windows 11 machine, it bleeps as though it is recognised but does not issue a drive letter and in device manager it shows a failure "Unknown USB Device(Set address Failure).... if i have Device manager open as I plug it in, it does see the flash drive under Disk drives for around 10 seconds, then bleeps and deletes it and the error shows under USB Controllers..... very weird......but suggests the USB has totally failed and i can't read it.
My assumptions for getting back up and running are :-
1. Remove disks from M90q and connect to a linux machine (i'll need to create one first) to try and find the backup from 6.12.11 and copy to another USB and hope everything comes up OK. Will I see any problems as it was previously 6.12.15.
2. I can only assume I was unlucky, and it was nothing to do with the PCIe install. The USB was going to fail....
3. Any tools to try and rescue the Flash drive.... If windows won't see it, then will a linux install show anything....
Thanks in anticipation,
