Preclear paused on step 2
I just swapped this drive into my other server and set preclear to just verify signature and it gave the same errors. Looks like I'm unable to run SMART reports on the drive until it's been added to the array. Is that correct? Guessing maybe both of these drives came from a bad batch of drives but at least I can still return them.

Preclear paused on step 2
ok, moved the drive to a different bay again. Was able to finish step 3 but then failed step 4 with the following log: In Summary: Drive One had reallocated sectors during preclear, pulled that drive to return. Drive Two (This One) has failed step four twice now. First time was due to connection problems that filled the log. I swapped bays to use a different cable and started again. Preclear paused on step 2
Having a hell of a time preclearing two new 28tb drives. First drive started reallocating sectors so I pulled that to return. Drive 2 failed step 4 the first time I ran it. After swapping it to a different bay, it successfully finished step 1, but essentially never started step 2. Once step 2 began, it was at 0 mb/s or 1 mb/s but never any faster. After ~12 hours it was still at 0% complete. Diagnostics attached. photoserver-diagnostics-20260314-0610.zip

Preclear failed step 4
9QSQ is the drive the preclear is running on. I just put it in another bay and started preclear again. Will replace cables once this finishes.

Preclear failed step 4
First time I've encountered an error during preclear. Steps 1-3 completed successfully but step 4 failed. Error says "cat: write error: No space left on device" Diagnostics attached I was able to reboot the server and start a new preclear, but that will obviously take days to complete and was hoping for some guidance before it potentially finishes. photoserver-diagnostics-20260314-0610.zip

Reallocated sectors during preclear
I think this is pretty straightforward but wanted to check first. Was running preclear on a brand new 28TB drive and at 97% complete it started throwing out reallocated sector warnings. It got up to 20 sectors over the course of two hours and I ended the preclear. Is there any recommendation where the best practice isn’t to simply return the drive and get a new one?

Lost internet access after switching NICs
Under Routing Table? I’m only showing docker0 and eth0 there. Docker0 was not there last night when I removed the NIC but was there this morning when I restarted. Edit: looks like the routing table reverted back from the changes I made last night. I’m unable to delete, modify, or add any new routes though. How do I make changes here? Well, whatever changes I made caused me to lose LAN access.

Lost internet access after switching NICs
I had an Intel NIC to avoid the onboard Realtek but wanted to add a new GPU to handle transcoding and the GPU needed the slot. After removing the NIC, I switched the network settings over and had internet and LAN access last night. After waking up this morning, I restarted the machine and now internet access is gone. I can still log in to the machine on the LAN, but I do not have any internet. These are settings I know very little about, so I'm positive this is just something I need instruction to setup properly. tower-diagnostics-20251218-0634.zip

Device Disabled after upgrading to 7.0
Unsure what's causing this or how to resolve. My server was working normally when I went through the upgrade process to 7.0. As soon as it restarted, Disk 7 was now listed as Disabled. Logs attached. tower-diagnostics-20251214-1358.zip tower-smart-20251214-1400.zip

Multiple Disks with Errors during Parity Check/Data Rebuild
Once I add the new parity and move the current parity over, it will give me an additional 10tb. I normally upgrade my drives before this point, but it kind of creeped up on me. Will upgrade software once I get the drives settled. Just noticed my dockers are empty. Is that normal from rebuilding a drive, or did something get deleted in the process? Edit: Was able to add Plex back using "Previous Apps" but my database was gone. Have to rebuild the media library from scratch.

Multiple Disks with Errors during Parity Check/Data Rebuild
I redid all the SATA cables and did the power cables this time. I'm at a million writes on the disc rebuild without any errors. Assuming this completes without issues, is there anything else I need to do due to the disk errors?

Multiple Disks with Errors during Parity Check/Data Rebuild
Not without taking apart another computer. Is there any way to test other than trial and error? So everything in diagnostics looks good? Is there a risk of data loss/corruption from the multiple disk errors? Fortunately I wasn't writing anything at the time. I'm going to attempt to unplug and reseat all the SATA and power cables again; do I just need to try to continue with the data rebuild as normal or anything special to do at this point?

Multiple Disks with Errors during Parity Check/Data Rebuild
Yup. All three drives are in the same Drive Module and all are going to that controller. Replace the controller?

Multiple Disks with Errors during Parity Check/Data Rebuild
Not sure the proper terminology, but I'm using three Norco SS-500 bays. One goes direct to the PSU with nothing else. The other two are daisy chained... one bay to the other bay to the PSU with nothing else. I'm about to check to see if all three of these drives are in the same bay. These are over 12 years old at this point.

Multiple Disks with Errors during Parity Check/Data Rebuild
Nothing's bundled, everything is loose. I learned that lesson about a decade ago when I first built the server. I unplugged both ends. The one from the motherboard/controller and the one from the drive bay. No splitters; straight from motherboard/controller to the drive bay. I didn't do anything with power.

Multiple Disks with Errors during Parity Check/Data Rebuild
I was planning on upgrading a HDD this weekend and started a parity check yesterday. When I came home, one of the drives (Drive 10) had errors and had been disabled and had the message "Device is Disabled, Contents Emulated". While doing some troubleshooting, Another Drive (Drive 3) threw some errors as well. I shutdown for the night and started again this morning. First thing I did was check cables. I don't have any spares to replace at the moment, but I unplugged and reseated each cable. I was attempting to get Drive 10 up and running again, so I unassigned the disk, started in Maintenance Mode, stopped, and reassigned the disk. It began the process of rebuilding data when Drive 3 started throwing errors again, but this time the parity drive also had errors. All three disks pass the SMART short self test. Just need to figure out next steps to get back up and running. Diagnostics attached from last night and this morning. SOLUTION: Reseated SATA cables, Controller card, and power cables and everything was up and running. tower-diagnostics-20250410-2048.zip tower-diagnostics-20250411-0927.zip

"Not Enough Space" message when moving files
15.6TB It was giving a message that I needed an additional 15.1TB but now it's saying I need an additional 979GB. Not sure what changed, but I can probably manage the transfer in several smaller subfolders.

"Not Enough Space" message when moving files
I'm trying to move a large folder onto my server and getting an error that there is not enough space on the drive. I clearly have enough space on the array though. I have Cache off, I've run New Permissions, but I still can't get this folder moved. photobackup-diagnostics-20240212-0909.zip

Errors on Array, Unable to Shutdown
Switching to SATA seemed to work as the speed didn’t slow down, but I got more errors on two drives about four hours into the rebuild this time. tower-diagnostics-20230511-1626.zip

Still no errors, but the rebuild has slowed to 2.5 MB/sec. Estimated completion is 80 days. tower-diagnostics-20230511-1339.zip
