On my current setup I have 2x4TB HDDs (Data and Parity) and 1x 1TB NVME SSD (Cache).
Now I need more storage for my media collection.
I'm currently debating whether to get larger HDDs for more storage overall, or another SSD to setup solely for media.
Larger HDDs mean overall more storage, which is nice. I don't want an additional 4TB drive, when I upgrade the HDDs, then I want bigger drives, which means thats more expensive now.
When I go for an SSD, this would have the benefit to be able to stream from the SSD, so no need to spin up the HDDs for streaming and thus having lower power consumption. 4TB is currently more than enough for my data without the media stuff.
NVME drives dont cost that
What route would you go, and why?
