[6.11.1] Parity drive has 298,496 errors?
Extended smart tests completed! Which of these options do I choose to post the results here, or does it make no difference?

Never? I'm new to UNRAID and it hasn't been a smooth sailing experience from the start.

[6.11.1] Parity drive has 298,496 errors?
Should I be worried about this? Do I need to do anything? I ran a SMART short self-test: Completed without error

[6.11.0] disk1 has read errors - What do I do?
Thanks trurl! I use UNRAID only for NAS storage. I don't run any dockers or VM's. Have a great weekend man!

It's been a different disk every time. And I've already replaced 2 disks with new ones.

Best practice recommendations for settings inside the setting's help description.
I love that UNRAID has help descriptions that are easy to find next to each feature and setting. It would be even better if "best practice" recommendations were added to the descriptions. Or, maybe a link to a Wiki of best practice recommendations for each feature and setting. For example, the setting "help" would show: the help description as it currently does a best practice recommendation or a link to the best practice recommendation located in an external wiki

[6.11.0] disk1 has read errors - What do I do?
Thanks JorgeB. Every other month when I do a parity check, I have to go through this process -- Disk fails, unmounts, UNRAID says there are errors, but extended tests show no errors. Any ideas to help me figure out why and how to prevent this from happening again? I have a very vanilla setup. I only use this for NAS, no VM's, nothing else. Also, does "maintenance mode" disable READ and WRITE or just WRITE?

Hi trurl, the extended test completed. What is the next step? taflix-unraid-smart-20221004-0726.zip

[6.11.0] disk1 has read errors - What do I do?
Okay, thanks. I didn't know that was a best practice thing and fixed it. It would help users if these "best practices" were implemented in the help. And, it would reduce the amount of support posts by helping users abide by best practices. Is this where I should be looking?

[6.11.0] disk1 has read errors - What do I do?
Thanks. I'm currently running an extended SMART test. I don't see any Smart warnings on the DASHBOARD page? Thanks, yes I have it do parity check every other month and I run into this issue every time. What am I doing wrong? I don't know if anything was writing during parity check, it starts at 2am. Unfortunately, I do not have a disk that I can rebuild to. I've already replaced 2 HDDs with new drives since this already happened in the past every time I try to do a parity check. I don't have the budget to buy new drives every time I do a parity check.

[6.10.3] Is it okay to temporarily disable a cache pool if we want to copy a large amount of files directly onto the array?
Is it okay to temporarily disable a cache pool if we want to copy a large amount of files (more than what the cache can store) directly onto the array? And then, renable the cache pool afterwards?

Is it okay to have multiple Shares share the same Cache Pool?
Seriously, life changing for me. Thank you for sharing!

Is it okay to have multiple Shares share the same Cache Pool?
Thanks! This is great because now I can create 1 large cache pool and have my Shares share it. I don't have to worry about any one Share running out of cache storage. I don't see why this isn't more commonly used?
-
Is it okay to have multiple Shares share the same Cache Pool?
Would there be any unforeseen issues with this? The cache pool mode would be set to: Yes indicates that all new files and subdirectories should be written to the Cache disk/pool, provided enough free space exists on the Cache disk/pool. If there is insufficient space on the Cache disk/pool, then new files and directories are created on the array. When the mover is invoked, files and subdirectories are transferred off the Cache disk/pool and onto the array.

[6.10.3] How do you add multiple SSD's to a cache pool but format as not a mirror type? [SOLVED]
I want to use multiple SSD's in cache pool but how do I format them so they don't mirror each other so I can use all the space on each SSD? I have different size SSD's and want to use full capacity of each drive. I figured it out, you have to set the Balance Mode to CONVERT TO SINGLE MODE

[6.10.3] UNRAID reported read errors on existing Drive 4 - Replaced it and now I have read errors on many more drives?
Yes. All of those subfolders were empty. The entire contents of the lost+found folder was 0 bytes. Use these tools to copy the original data over? Unassigned Devices and Dynamix File Manager Mount the HDD using Unassigned Devices? Copy files using Dynamix File Manager? Just wanting to confirm?

[6.10.3] UNRAID reported read errors on existing Drive 4 - Replaced it and now I have read errors on many more drives?
There are no files and 0 bytes in the lost+found folder. Yes, I mean the original disk. It still has all the data. I was able to successfully copy everything to a spare HDD. Can I use the spare HDD or original HDD to copy the contents that was unrecoverable in the lost+found folder?
