Hi there,
the problem:
after VM creation (tried Windows and Linux) and clicking on start, it fails to start the VM. It is stuck on starting. I once got it to start the VM and the output was just glitchy, see screenshot.
While starting the system becomes unresponsive. The VGA output with the console freezes. The web console is still usable, but clicking on VM tab results in endless loading. SSH still works at that point. VMs that were up before trying to start the VM with the W5700 are still running at that point. Doing on the console virsh, list --all results in no output, the command just hangs. Sometimes I still can reboot the machine over ssh, but not all the time and I have to force shutdown the server.
Everytime I try booting up a VM with the W5700 now results in the same behaviour.
I tried playing with the PCIe settings, but without getting different behaviour.
The card is working tho. It was installed in my old Threadripper 1900X system and I played some decent amount of hours with it. Then after finishing the Epyc build I first installed Windows 10 and did some benchmarking and gaming, the card works fine.
I can get clean unRAID console output on the W5700 during bootup of the server.
With a Nvidia GT710 there are no issues, I can bootup Windows without any problem.
The crashes with the AMD GPU are reported in the syslog.
Maybe BIOS version 2.4 could resolve the issue, but I have no Supermicro account.
Here are my specifications:
AMD Epyc 7443P
Supermicro H12SSL-CT (BIOS Version 2.3)
4x Micron 32GB 3200MHz MTA18ASF4G72PDZ-3G2E1R
AMD Radeon Pro W5700 8GB
Nvidia GT710
Samsung 1TB NVMe SSD
Patriot Memory 256GB USB 3.2 Gen 1x1 stick
I tried unRAID 6.11.0 stable and 6.11.0-rc5 next.
Thank you in advance.
