  1. So long story short, I had an issue with my usb drive. I've got up and running with a new usb drive, and made the mistake of transferring my licence before getting a copy of my backup in My Servers dashboard. Now when I look at the dashboard, my original server is no longer shown. Is there a way to get a copy of the backup? I'd love to get my docker xml's to save me from starting again with them. thanks
  2. Thanks heaps. As luck might have it - the parity drive i had was damaged with the server crash and isn't powering on. I'll mount the drives that are working just to make sure, but from what I read, as long as you don't assign an array drive as a parity drive, you're not going to lose data, and can pop the disks into the array in any order. Is that your understanding as well? I'm going to leave the server off until I can get the parity drive replaced. I could probably start the array without one and ignore the parity errors, but I'm not excited about running an array without parity.
  3. Hi All, I've had a major issue with my server, which ultimately fried the usb boot drive. I had My Servers plugin running before the crash, and thought I had a backup because of this. I've restored a USB with a fresh copy of unRaid, got it running and then tried to restore my backup, but I think I stuffed it. I went into the My Servers dashboard, but because the old server was powered off, i couldn't download a copy of the backup as there was no link! So that led me to thinking that I need to restore my licence first, so I went through that process and transferred my licence to the new usb. Now, the server has disappeared, and I'm left without a backup, and I have no idea what order the drives were connected in to the array. Any suggestions on where I go from here without losing all my data!!?
  4. Went with the Gigabyte Z790 Gaming X AX - had the most NvME ports
  5. Hi All, So about 8mths ago I built my first unraid setup, and everything was going great. I moved house, got the server setup again - happy days. That lasted 1 night though, and then the server was dead. Motherboard tried to start, but just died. Tried multiple PSU's, nothing. Eventually it didn't even try to kick over. So I sent it back with the CPU and memory, and I finally heard today that when they tried to power it up, it caught fire! Yep, fire! It happened right near the RAM, so its gone as well. The board in question was the MSI Pro Z690-A Wi-Fi DDR5 Motherboard. I'm going to change brands after hearing what happened. So I'm looking for recommendations for a M/B that can handle an Intel 13th Gen i7, DDR5, NVME drives, and has about 6 SATA ports. Any suggestions?
  6. Hi all, I have a server that I suspect has a faulty motherboard. It currently doesn’t power on, however the PSU is showing that it’s getting power and not showing any error lights on it. I’ve still got some troubleshooting to do, but in the event that it is a motherboard fault, I’m wondering how unraid will deal with this? Will I need to plug the HDDs back in the same order (I’m assuming that this is required for the array to start clean)? any other issues that is going to cause me grief if I have to change motherboards? I’d likely change from MSI as it’s only 6mths old. thanks
  7. I do, but I will backup the data first on an external drive before installing unraid
  8. Hi All, As a newbie to unraid, I'm looking to get recommendations on what parts I need to rebuild my server. Currently running an old i5-4570 with only 4Gb ram and Windows 2016 Server (so dearly needs an upgrade). It really is just for Plex, and running my usenet downloads. I've struggled to understand all the complexities for Plex 4k hardware transcoding, so please recommend hardware that will be able to do this. I have 4x2TB (currently raid5) disks to put in, and to help with costs, I'd like to keep them. Budget sub-$1500 if possible.
