  1. This is fantastic! I've got a laptop that runs 24/7 for no other purpose than to use bittorrent. MUCH easier if this process is done on my unRAID server. One request - are you able to make an unRAID package for the PluginEradedata Plugin? (http://code.google.com/p/rutorrent/wiki/PluginErasedata) I like that when I remove torrents as then I don't have to remember to remove the downloaded data too. Thankyou very much... highly appreciated.
  2. Like a lot of people here I've chosen the CoolerMaster 590. Haven't moved my system to it yet, it only arrived late last week.
  3. Don't know if you've seen this - but a small 1.5GHz solution with 8x sata ports. http://www.auspcmarket.com.au/show_product_info.php?input[product_code]=MB-NAS7800-15LST&input[category_id]=1764
  4. The Windows version of HandBrake GUI does have a Query Editor that can generate the base script. Just then call the CLI executable with this script at the end.
  5. Hey Psychosis, Let me know how you go with that. As above, I'm thinking of later this week doing this upgrade but with the CoolerMaster 590 ($100AUD cheaper).
  6. Thanks guys. I might look at the CM590 and the Lian-Li hot swap cages then. I think it should be fine. I might end up swapping out the fans to get quieter ones, but I'll see how it all goes. Now to decide if I want to upgrade the cpu/motherboard/ram at the same time. It might be cheaper than buying addon SATA cards for my current setup!
  7. Hey everyone, So after having 3 200GB disks starting to fail due to overheating issues, I think its time to upgrade my case for better cooling! I've currently got an Antec P150 with 7 disks inside it. I'm looking at: CoolerMaster Centurion 590 3x Lian Li EX-H34B hot swap cages. I'm in Australia, and all other hot swap cages seem to be VERY expensive down here. I was checking out the single trayless ones. The cheapest I've found is $25 each http://www.stormcomputers.com.au/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=83_235&products_id=2890. Or the Wellands for $29 each http://www.austin.net.au/ProductList/ProductDetail/tabid/104/ProductCode/HD-RACKME-751/Default.aspx. However for the extra $70odd I may as well get 12 disks total not 9 I think. Has anyone used the Lian Li cages yet? They look ok, but not that much space for the fan to pull air through the back of the cage. http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=11160 I'd appreciate anyones input... I'll be looking at doing this sometime in the next few months probably.
  8. Thanks guys. Need to get a bit more money up my sleeve before I start this rebuild of my server. Can't wait - lower power, more HDD support and never having to open the case again. I might even upgrade my USB from 256MB to something more substantial.
  9. So I'm possibly looking into upgrading my unRAID server. Currently have 7x drives and my case is full. So I'm looking at upgrading to a Centurion 590 with 3x 5-in-3 boxes. So with 15 drives, I was thinking a nice way to do this would be to use a motherboard with 6x on-board SATA, a 2 channel PCIE card (http://www.addonics.com/products/host_controller/adsa3gpx1.asp) and 2 internal port multipliers (http://www.addonics.com/products/host_controller/ad5sapm.asp). I've read through the other port-multiplier threads but can't seem to tell if this is likely to work or not? I'm in Australia, so all this would probably be ordered from the USA as pricing here in Aus is very gay! Any thoughts?
  10. Hi everyone, Has anyone seen this motherboard? 10 sata ports, 4x gigabit LAN ports with teaming function... I think this'd make a great unraid motherboard. Any chance the teaming could be made to work in unraid?
  11. I'm one of those! As much as I love my system stability, I also like assisting in moving these products forward. I generally jump on betas like this on the 2nd-3rd release so those really bad original bugs have already been found though.
  12. Being a Mac user at home I've been keeping a close eye on the OSX port of this. The developer is doing a great job, and has it running very nicely on a Mac Mini. From what he's been saying (through his blog), I'm not sure which dual core Mac Mini he's got, but he played a1080p MKV of Rumor Has It, average bitrate of 11.5Mbps, spikes to 15-20, with only 230 dropped frames through the entire movie. His CPU only hit 130-140% as well, so with some more tweak a Mac Mini will be capable of pretty much all 1080p content. IMO that will make the perfect OSXBMC device. Now for someone to add a front end for Myth or HD Homerun's and I can finally do away with the last remnant of Windows in my house! (being a Vista MC).
  13. Fantastic work! I was thinking it'd been a while since we've seen an update... and the improved Uli SATA support is awesome - downloading this right now!
  14. If someone does setup a torrent for this I'll grab it and seed. I've got a 24/7 torrent box I'll put it on.
  15. I think I was the one that posted that. I put this at the end of my go script: ############################ # # Enables SMART on Samsung disks # SMART is not enable by default # on these drives # /boot/smartctl -a -d ata -s on /dev/sdf /boot/smartctl -a -d ata -s on /dev/sdg /boot/smartctl -a -d ata -s on /dev/sdh # ############################ I haven't actually rebooted yet to see if it works, but it should! EDIT: For the purpose of the original post, I'd prefer the WD AACS drive. The AACS drives are their green power ones. I just installed a WD WD10EACS in my server. The temps down my drives show how efficient it is, and atm I'm currently writing from DISK1 to DISK6 (no parity atm! Waiting for the 2nd 1TB disk to arrive!!! its scary..) : DISK1 - Samsung HD401LJ - 36 DISK2 - Samsung HD401LJ - 32 DISK3 - Samsung HD401LJ - 32 DISK4 - Seagate T3200827AS - 31 DISK5 - Seagate T3200827AS - 34 DISK6 - WD WD10EACS - 28 DISK7 - Seagate T3200827AS - 38
