    Ok managed to solve this one with a bit more googling and SpaceInvader's videos:
     
    Stop the array Start the array in maintenance mode. This starts the array without mounting disks (assuming this is where it went wrong for me). Open cache pool (both in my case) and "erase" the disks. File system type should revert back to auto. Stop the array Click back on the pool and choose the desired file system (zfs in my case, took the chance to enable Compression aswell) Start the array Format the disks  
    et voila, that worked. This was mainly an issue with my lack of knowledge in unraid i'm assuming.
     
    Hope this might help someone in the future who experiences the same.
