  1. So I couldn't find a solution to quiet the fan using bare metal UnRaid because I couldn't install ipmitool on the host os which a version of slackware. I decided to install proxmox bare metal and run UnRaid as a VM and works great!
  2. Good evening everyone, I got a dell r730xd and installed UnRaid with no problems, however, the fans are always at 90% and blasting. I have tried everything and nothing is working. Here is what I have done so far: configured iDRAC enabled IPMITOOL over LAN tried to connect to the server via ipmitool but I have gotten this error: Error: Unable to establish IPMI v2 / RMCP+ session I have tried installing ipmitool via the nerdpack but getting error: no dell server found I have tried other iDRAC packages from the unraid store. Conclusion I think I need to install the iDRAC server module iSM for IPMITOOL to work properly. I believe the reason I cannot connect via IPMITool is because the server module is not installed on the host os which is UnRaid. However, I have no success installing the module directly on Unraid because there is no to little support for Slackware from Dell. None of the packages would install on Unraid. The next thing I will try is to maybe do a dual boot. Install an OS that supports iDRAC iSM and then install unraid.. If anyone has a working solution PLEASE share. I have been pulling my hair out!
  3. For whatever reason after the latest update, after stopping and restarting the service everything seems to be working again. weird.
  4. @Hoopster thank you for responding. Thank you for pointing out the checkbox, I tried to do it manually via the command line. However, despite stopping the service as I did previously, I still cannot find the docker.img file and everything else is the same in terms of the issues I am facing.
  5. Hello everyone, ok there's a lot going on and I need help with the docker service. I can not run, start, stop or remove any of my containers. Background I was able to install and configure the following containers without any issues: Home assistant; mariadb; nextcloud; plex; swag and vault warden. However I had to move my unraid to server to a different server and that's the trouble started The issue Issue #1- I was not able to stop/start the containers because it kept saying, there's another container running with that name. Therefore I decided to remove them. I tried to delete but I got the following error: Issue #2 Warning: file_put_contents(/var/lib/docker/unraid/images/mariadb-icon.png): failed to open stream: Input/output error in /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/dynamix.docker.manager/include/DockerClient.php on line 93 Warning: file_put_contents(/var/lib/docker/unraid/images/swag-icon.png): failed to open stream: Input/output error in /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/dynamix.docker.manager/include/DockerClient.php on line 93 Issue #3 I tried to delete the docker.img file in order to start over but can't find anyway and not even in the location specified in the docker settings please see my attached diagnostic attached tower-diagnostics-20230501-1059.zip
  6. @mathomas3 Great advice, I'll think your advice to have a separate box and look at craigslist. Thank you again for the advice.
  7. That's awesome, thank you
  8. Thank you @mathomas3 for responding .I was hoping to save money lol (i'm cheap). Do you have any suggestions for recommended hardware and/or places to buy them. ebay, I've never used aliexpress but I could try it. Also, because I would be running a few vms I was thinking of getting a server level cpu for their quantity of cores if were to go the separate nas box route. Thoughts?
  9. Hello everyone, I am brand new to this forum and unraid. Please let me if this is in the right category for this question. Anyways I need some thoughtful advice. I already have unraid setup with the hope of booting from a windows VM; this is already done except I am having issue with audio sometimes. My question is: Would my hardware configuration be enough to run unraid, gaming vm ( to play x-plane12 mostly) and run containers) or would it be better to get a separate unraid server. PS> I am trying to save money, so what's the best bang for the buck I have the following hardware. Motherboard: GIGABYTE Z390 AORUS PRO WiFi RAM: 32GB CPU: Intel Core i7-9700K GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 SC Black Edition, 8GB GDDR5 NVMe: (2) 500 GB + 1TB Drive: (3) Western Digital 6TB WD Red Plus NAS Internal Hard Drive HDD
