    Hi @squanchy2112 sorry to re re-open a dead thread, but I have just experienced exactly what you describe, albeit on less advanced hardware. Did you ever manage to get a fix for this?

    Beep not working in Unraid

    Hi!

    Hope this is the correct place to post this. 

    I have just installed a speaker on my motherboard (MSI Mortar B660m), as it did not come with one as standard - as I want to start using audio cues for various things. 

    The beep works on startup (after enabling it in BIOS), so the speaker is working - however I cannot get a beep when issuing the command in the command line. 

    I have tried various beep frequencies and lengths and there is no sound coming from the speaker. 

    When i put my head right up to the server I 'believe' there is a slight vibration, but I do not know if thats just my imagination. 

    Please let me know if there is anything I can try, thank you as always!

    Hi again, 

    So I just looked at the logs, and I thought I would post this info - the last lines that I am able to see on the monitor attached to my server are:

    After that its unresponsive - even though the logs obviously show that there is more activity. 

    I notice the nvidia line - my monitor is plugged in directly to the HDMI output from the GPU (a 1050ti) could that be an issue? Should I attempt using the onboard graphics? (In the past when I have tried this I have had no video output at all).

    Hi all!

    I am having a strange issue, I hope you may be able to help with. 

    When booting my server, I cannot login via the command line directly from the server - the console hangs at a certain point and I cannot enter username/password - it is completely unresponsive.

    I can access the server fine via webGUI, all works as usual - also, if I boot using GUI mode, the console also 'hangs' at the same place for a while, but then boots into GUI mode like usual.

    I have only just noticed this happening - its the first time I have tried to login via command line since 6.12 update. 

    Safe mode does not change anything.

    @JorgeBThank you again for your help!

    I ended up ordering 2x32GB - 3200 MT/s 22CAS timing. Now hopefully ill build a server thatll run 5-10 years without upgrading!


    Really appreciate your help, I also learnt in the meantime the difference betweeen MT/s and Mhz, all because of your correct usage!

    That is super info, very much appreciated!

    I am now considering if I need to use dual channel, or if I can get a single 32GB module, so that I can eventually upgrade all the way to 128 GB using all 4 slots. 

    Is unraid affected much by single/dual channel?

    Hi all!

     

    This is probably a super basic question, but I have had trouble finding a definitive answer.

     

    What is the maximum ddr4 non-XMP RAM speed/timing/cl I should be using in Unraid?

     

    I understand that in the interest of stability, I do not want to run any ram overclock, even XMP - but I can't figure out if that means 2400 MHz, 2666 MHz, or even some RAM has standard 3200 MHz.

    Also, what about best ram timing and CL for peak stability?

     

    I am making a new build (docker, jellyfin, maybe 1 VM) so far the parts are:

     

    I3-12100

    MSI B660M Mortar Ddr4

    3x 8TB HDD

    Corsair RM 550x

    2x 16gb RAM DIMM?Type unknown?

     

    I only want to buy ram capable of the speed i will be using, but not sure what speed/timing/CL that i should get.

    Motherboard Power Draw Comparison

    Hi! Thank you!

     

    I understand the CPU needs to enter a C state and that of course any attached devices will mean more power draw, but from what i can tell, reading a variety of posts etc, motherboards own power draw can very quite heavily. I was just wondering if there was any resources/reviews/comparisons of motherboard power draw.

    Hi all!

    I am upgrading my Unraid server (power supply died, good excuse to refresh everything!) and I am looking to build a power-efficient system. 

    I am wondering if there are any resources on Motherboard power draw?

    It seems there is lots of info to find on PSUs, CPUs, GPUs, HDDs etc - but motherboard power draw seems to be overlooked somewhat, and it seems some Mini ITX boards can draw as little as 5W, while some feature heavy boards draw upwards of 70W - making a pretty significant difference to overall consumption. Also I am not sure if motherboard power draw is affected by load, or if it is consistent under load/idle?

    The only real list I can find is hardwareluxx google sheet, which compares various low power systems:

    This has some good info - but when choosing a board it would be great to be able to compare power draw - does anyone have any suggestions?
