Yeah, I'm not sure. I have tried 3 PK3 files now. I found some on a github. At the end of my log I noticed this: ---pak0.pk3 found, continuing--- ---Prepare Server--- ---Checking if 'server.cfg' is present--- ---'server.cfg' found, continuing--- ---Checking if 'maprotation.cfg' is present--- ---'maprotation.cfg' found, continuing--- ---Server ready--- ---Starting server--- So it eventually found it? The thing is if i have any PK3s in there it seems to not do anything, the webgui shows that the docker is using 0% CPU and 0bytes of RAM, if i remove the PK3 files it at least runs to some degree. Is there a specific version of the PK3 files i would need, or is it pretty universal? Appdata is on an SSD in a pool for the sole purpose of running VMs and dockers, no alternative storage is set. These are the PK3 files i found on that github, decided to dump them all in there. Same result. I don't know what info you might find useful. I'm still pretty green to unRAID and my understanding of the Linux file structure is pretty weak.

Alright, got that sorted out. The default install path was in /tmp and I think that was throwing myself and the system off. Anywho looks like i have the files in the right spot, more files have populated around it, but now the console and the logs only show up for a split second, and I'm not sure it is even running. EDIT: I can see the logs after stopping the docker, here is what it has: text error warn system array login 0 files in pk3 files Sys_Error: Couldn't load default.cfg Q3 1.32c linux-i386 May 8 2006 ----- FS_Startup ----- Current search path: /quake3/.q3a/osp /quake3/osp /quake3/q3ded/osp /quake3/.q3a/baseq3 /quake3/baseq3 /quake3/q3ded/baseq3 ---------------------- 0 files in pk3 files Running in restricted demo mode. ----- FS_Startup ----- Current search path: /quake3/.q3a/demota /quake3/demota /quake3/q3ded/demota ---------------------- 0 files in pk3 files Sys_Error: Couldn't load default.cfg Q3 1.32c linux-i386 May 8 2006 ----- FS_Startup ----- Current search path: /quake3/.q3a/osp /quake3/osp /quake3/q3ded/osp /quake3/.q3a/baseq3 /quake3/baseq3 /quake3/q3ded/baseq3 ---------------------- 0 files in pk3 files Running in restricted demo mode. ----- FS_Startup ----- Current search path: /quake3/.q3a/demota /quake3/demota /quake3/q3ded/demota ---------------------- 0 files in pk3 files Sys_Error: Couldn't load default.cfg ---Ensuring UID: 99 matches user--- usermod: no changes ---Ensuring GID: 100 matches user--- usermod: no changes ---Setting umask to 000--- ---Checking for optional scripts--- ---No optional script found, continuing--- ---Checking if Quake3 is installed--- ---Quake 3 found, continuing...--- ---Taking ownership of data...--- ---Starting...--- ---Checking if .pk3 files are present--- ---pak0.pk3 found, continuing--- ---Prepare Server--- ---Checking if 'server.cfg' is present--- ---'server.cfg' found, continuing--- ---Checking if 'maprotation.cfg' is present--- ---'maprotation.cfg' found, continuing--- ---Server ready--- ---Starting server--- ---Ensuring UID: 99 matches user--- usermod: no changes ---Ensuring GID: 100 matches user--- usermod: no changes ---Setting umask to 000--- ---Checking for optional scripts--- ---No optional script found, continuing--- ---Checking if Quake3 is installed--- ---Quake 3 found, continuing...--- ---Taking ownership of data...--- ---Starting...--- ---Checking if .pk3 files are present--- ---pak0.pk3 found, continuing--- ---Prepare Server--- ---Checking if 'server.cfg' is present--- ---'server.cfg' found, continuing--- ---Checking if 'maprotation.cfg' is present--- ---'maprotation.cfg' found, continuing--- ---Server ready--- ---Starting server---

That is just the name assigned to the SSD I use for VMs and Dockers. I'll uninstall and reinstall and try again in case I boogered it up.

Looking again I don't think that was the right move. I'll have to poke around more when I get back to a desktop.

Yeah I restarted it. Initially I tried the pk3 files from the CD, the from the install (it's on a win98 box) and restarted each time. The path looked like it didn't go deep enough so I pointed it right to the folder. Still no luck.

Howdy! I am trying to setup a Quake III Arena server, and this is what I am running into. My install only has the one PAK file. Any tips? Thanks!!

Upgrade Parity Drive during Parity Check - V6.12.3
sp00nix replied to AskCharlie's topic in General Support
Correct. You might be in a tricky spot if you don't have a spare 2tb drive to get things back to normal first. If you remove the parity with a failing drive then you run a very high risk of losing data. -
Upgrade Parity Drive during Parity Check - V6.12.3
sp00nix replied to AskCharlie's topic in General Support
I would let the check finish, then replace the failing drive and let it rebuild, THEN replace the parity drive. -
I haven't had any problems outside of any self inflicted issues to see how it works, and figure out how to fix them. It's seemingly rock solid so far.

Thanks you for the input, much appreciated. I have been stress testing and downright abusing this setup without an hiccups for a couple weeks now, but the seed of doubt has been planted. I will continue to try and break it for the rest of the trial while I re-think my setup. Might be worth while to find another case, or motherboard that will support the hardware i have, again trying to keep within a budget and re-use what I have in the "junk" pile.

Hello! To start off I am new to unraid, I have a test system going right now and I am really digging it. It's time to replace my 10+ year old Windows server. To save money I would like to use some of the equipment I have on hand, but I wanted to get some input on my plans to make sure it makes sense to the more seasoned users. I am planning to use this for one of my data backup locations for my main desktop and work laptop as well as less critical media storage and Plex server. I also will run VMs and Dockers on it to replace some of the duties my current windows server handles. I am also toying with the idea of building a second one to store at a friends house that will VPN home to sync. For this I have a bunch of terrible, but new, Seagate SMR drives. Not worried about performance on that one. So what i have right for the test rig: -Dell Optiplex 3070 SFF computer, i5 8500, 8GB RAM -Sabrenet 4x USB 3 hard drive bay, 4x 2tb Dell/WD Drives (1 parity, 3 data) -1x 500GB SSD -1x 256GB NVME My plan is to upgrade the test rig and use it in production: -64GB of RAM (or 32, some say 64 may work. This will be trial and error) -9th gen i7 or i9 -5x 10TB HGST refurbished drives (1 parity, 3 data, 1 spare) (I have been using these for years, so far no issues) The final config will probably ditch the NVME drive, and use the SSD for cache and VM, I am open to suggestions as I got this far by googling and tinkering. Additional questions I have: -Is there a simple way to have the unraid connect to a windows share on my main machine to sync up when it's online? Right now i use All-way Sync/GoodSync on the source machine. -Anyone else have a setup with an offsite machine to sync to over VPN? -Every 3-5 years I cycle out my spinning disks and put them in storage, is there a solid method for doing this on my rig? -Can i setup an email or other method to alert me of any issues with the machine? A PC speaker alarm would probably suffice. Thanks in advance, sorry if this is a bit of a run on post.
