  1. Hello all! Thank you in advance for the help.
What is the purpose of the setting Minimum Free space? in Share Settings.

After I converted my drives to ZFS this setting seems to have defaulted to 188GB .
Just on SOME shares. Which is weird.

    Thanks again

  2. Thank you - I also noticed the SSD's were reporting 100 degrees temp.
I stopped the server to let everything cool down - think my network closet may need some more cooling.

@JorgeB could you please point me to any primer on BTRFS recovery?
I am not a linux maven have learned along the way - been using UNRAID for like 25 years now. Love this tech and it makes me learn new stuff.

    Thanks again

  3. Fair enough. Thanks both.

It was nice to have a here's the list of stuff we know works for sure.

What thoughts on these M.2 to SATA adapters that some folks seem to be using?

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07T3RMFFT?linkCode=sl2&tag=buylocal0e8-20&creativeASIN=B07T3RMFFT&asc_item-id=amzn1.ideas.2BS6J9W0XMNFQ&ref_=aip_sf_list_spv_ofs_d_asin&th=1

Modern MB seem to be rather short on SATA ports and heavy on M.2 ports.

    Thanks

  4. Sorry - find attached the full diagnostics.
Do you mean the power supply is failing?
The server has not been moved - so not sure how anything would come loose.
The two drives are in two different drive cages.

  5. Hi folks,

I had one drive fail (disk4) - while I was waiting for a replacement drive to ship from Amazon I started copying the content to some empty space I had (disk1) - unraid suddenly reports disk1 has failed also.
I am running a two parity drive setup.

Seems unusual to have 2 drives fail could you please look at the attached log and help me unerstand what is going on.

Thank you in advance. Log file attached.

  6. You are 100% right - it is OCD :) guilty as charged.

Want to confirm everyone who uses Dockers / VMs have them - and this is not some weird thing I managed to do to my server.

And yes - my OCD does not trump my sanity - I don't want to have a super special setup that no one can help me with so I will not do that. Thank you for the advice.

  7. We may need to file this under Noob stupid questions without enough info. Apologize since I am technically not a noob to UNRAID but I am a bit green with containers and linux in general.

    I have the following folders/shares under /mnt/user/

    /docker

     - docker.img

    /domains

      /VM

     - - vdisk2.img

    /appdata

     - This seems to be where all my docker data is

    /vdisks

     -  *.img files

     - think these are my virtual machines

    /system

     / libvert

     - libvert.img

    I didn't create them.

Is there a way to tidy these up?

Say move /docker /vdisks /domains under /appdata? without breaking my well running system?

    Thank you,

  8. Situation - ALL Is well. Some drives are getting a bit tight.

Solution - time to switch from 3TB drives to 8TB drives.

I have 2 Parity drives - and I really like having 2 Parity drives.

Is there away to replace both the old 3Tb Parity drives with new 8Tb parity drives and build parity once?

    Thank you.

  9. I have been running a PROMISE SATA300 TX4 PCI SATA II since 2008, that is 5 years) no problems.

The product is out of manufacture but is available on ebay for around $15

Supports 4x SATA drives on the PCI bus.

    I have:

4 drives on the Promise SATA300 TX4 controller

5 SATA drives on the motherboard (ASUS A8N32-SLI)

3 PATA drives on the motherboard

    Total storage 13Tb +parity

    5.0-rc16c Unraid server Pro

Not the fastest rig but its built with mostly handme down parts from my main PC - have seen 38MB/sec on Parity Checks
