  1. Is there no information on the ability to change ownership of files on a NFS mounted UNRAID setup?

And fails because the only valid UID is 99 and GID is 100. How do I open this up yo all UIDs & GIDs? Thanks.
  3. I have a Ubuntu 22.04 server, NFSv3 mounted unraid mountpoint, everything appears to be owned by UID 99, GID 100, and anytime I try chown ampl:ampl MOVIES I get "chown: changing ownership of 'MOVIES/': Operation not permitted". Do I need to add some options on the mount line, like 'insecure', to get it to be more open to other UIDs & GIDs? On the Unraid->Settings->NFS is Tunable (fuse_remember), currently its set to 777. Not sure what it should be set to. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
  4. It appears much faster removing the SMR parity HD, the rsync completed by morning. Have to purchase a new CMR 8TB HD to replace it. I am seeing an error, rsync: [receiver] chgrp "/disk4/4K/.Doctor.Strange.mkv" failed: Operation not permitted (1). Are there some NFS permissions I need to set on UNRAID to alleviate this error? Thanks. tower-diagnostics-20240418-0642.zip
  5. Thanks for the info, will try this weekend. USB drives arent known for being the best quality, so having a backup is good. Thanks.
  6. To make a backup copy of the known good working UNRAID USB drive, can I make an image of the working USB drive & copy it to a new USB drive? On a linux PC using the dd command, can I .. dd if=/dev/sdb of=/root/UNRAID.img bs=8M Remove working USB drive Insert new USB drive dd if=/root/UNRAID.img of=/dev/sdb bs=8M Thanks.
  7. Tonight I'll disable the parity drive, reboot, restart the rsync. See what its like in the morning. Is there any other logging I should turn on?
  8. But can you see that the rsync processes are still running from the host? Besides the fact that the parity disk is a SMR disk, do you see anything else that would cause Unraid to stop? a SMR disk is just slower at writing from what I understand. Thanks.
  9. I started the rsync last night, it was 300-500Mb/s, this morning it was reporting 3Kb/s. tower-diagnostics-20240417-0721.zip
  10. Is there a way to clean up Post #3, I thought that by using CODE markers it would have put the text in a scrollable window within the post, just trying to clean it up. Thanks.
  11. Tonight, I'll reboot, mount the Unraid volume, start an rsync. What do I do with the Downloaded zip file? Where can I post it? Thanks.
  12. I uploaded the Hardware Diags from the Tools page, Here's the XML output.
  13. I have an 8 year old desktop PC, Gigabyte mobo, Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4770 CPU @ 3.40GHz, 16 GB RAM, 3x8TB HDs, 3x3TB HDs, Gigabit net port. I've uploaded the hardware spec for further information. During a parity check it can take up to 24 hours, and the fastest write speeds I see are 150MB/s, which seems awful slow. Also when writing to the UNRAID over NFS from a Ubuntu 22.04 server the rsync starts at 200-300 MB/s but then slows down to 3.7 MB/sec and slower. Can anyone give me some suggestions on how to get more performance. Thanks.
  14. Thanks for all the replies, so far my initial copies havent filled up the cache drive before they're moved off to the array.
  15. I'll install the nvme, my only concern is as I'm initially writing files to unraid, if the cache fills up before mover moves files to the array, I understand the writes will fail. I'll have to look at mover options I suppose.
