  1. Thanks JorgeB. IMO card is faulty and it doesn't even really work with SAS drives. Got some Then after 20/25min. Air flow is fine. I tried another PCI slot, same thing. So I switched back with 9211-8i and everything works perfectly. My friend confirmed brand is 10Gtek. I don't recommend.

  3. I'm really puzzled and out of ideas, hopping some LSI expert here can shed some light on the issue. My LSI 9200-8e (SAS2008) controller isn't recognizing any SATA WD RED 5TB (WD50EFRX) drive. Here’s what I’ve done so far to troubleshoot: Tested other drives. I connected a few other SATA drives to the controller, and they were recognized without any issues. Same with some SAS drives. Checked power supply. I use a Molex power connector to SATA adapter to ensure there’s no +3.3V issue. Tried another controller. I switched to an LSI 9211-8i controller, and the WD RED drives were immediately recognized and functioned correctly. Reflashed IT firmware. I used sas2flash.efi -o -e 7 ... sas2flash.efi -o -f <firmware name>.bin .... sas2flash.efi -o -sasaddhi XXXXXXX Hard drive jumper pins. Tested all of them. About brands, the SAS9211-8i is a IBM M1015 and I think the SAS9200-8e is 10Gtek. sas2flash -info of the 2 cards. Thanks.
