  1. Been using unraid for 2 weeks or so now, and im very much enjoying the benefits of having a server at home to offload tasks from my pc and raspberry pi's! Nice and easy to set up my array and cache, and is so nice not just having x amount of drives show up in windows. So far i have a plex server with 6tb or so of content, home assistant server connected to 30 or so devices and a windows VM for caching steam games. One issue i have come accross (nothing on UnRaids side!) is my ISP (Sky) doesnt provide static ip's. A couple of things i want to get set up require a static ip as far as i can see, such at a proper Steam Cache which apart from Plex and file storage is my next main usage of the server. So far, i've got around this by installing a windows 11 VM, having a share on the array with Steam's download/install folder pointing at the share, downloading games and have it set to download from clients on the local network. So i or friends on my network can download the game quickly. SO. Title of the topic, any recommendations for ISP's that offer static IP as part of the package or as a bolt on? Thanks all
  2. I am also having the issue where certain Shift commands don't work. Most common i've come across is Shift + 3, pressing 3 results in a successfully registered keystroke, but shirt + 3 does not seem to register. Also noticed the ` key responds the same. ` registers but shift + ` does not register. Have not found a solution for this despite 2 days of googling on and off, so just hoping my info can help someone in the future diagnose this issue. Windows 11 VM
  3. Could anyone comment on is a quick solution for this, would be to use the "remove vm and disk" on the menu in shares? I dont mind installing a vm again, and finding a different guide to follow to set it up correctly
  4. Ah ok, so i've misunderstood how "hard drive space" is allocated inside the VM's? That would make sense. Before disabling, i went into the windows vm and uninstalled/deleted the games i had downloaded and emptied the drive i had created in the vm hoping this would delete the files, but they still seem to be on the cache drive. I have now disabled VM's and docker in settings. How would i go about deleting files from domains? if i try to navigate to the domains folder in shares, it will only let me download the vdisk as far as i can tell?
  5. Apologies, have enabled mover logging. Hopefully this helps I believe the main culprit is my windows 11's vm, i increased its drive size to 1tb on the shares menu, and assigned the drive inside the vm, then i started to load with games. Would that be the "domains" share? I had thought i had set it to move files from the cache to the array, but i have apparently got something mixed up/misunderstood something Apologies, very fresh to this so having to google most things lol. Ideally, i would like the windows 11vm, plex and home assistant to run from the cache drive. With the mass drive assigned in the vm reading and writing from the array Thank you home-server-diagnostics-20240608-2359.zip
  6. As mentioned in title, i'm having an issue where i can't figure out why my cache isnt moving files to my array. I made a windows 11 VM, downloaded steam and started downloading games to act as a local lan cache (Actually lane cache seems out of the picture, cannot get a static ip from my isp). A few games downloaded, then i noticed the cache was basically full and mover hadnt wasnt set to move until 12am. I have gone into shares, and set them all to primary cache and secondary array, with mover action being Cache>array. Invoking Mover doesnt seem to do anything. A few files moved as the drive was 99% done when i noticed the cache hadn't been movingthen went to 100% It is back at 99%. Very new UnRaid user, very impressed with the versatility and looking forward to "smartifying" my home further. Hopefully i've posted any info needed to get some advice on what i'm doing wrong/missing that i need to change. Thank you! home-server-diagnostics-20240608-2333.zip
