Solutions

  1. Esperon's post in Drives not visible to Unraid on restart - ASMedia ASM1064 not detected unless full power cycle performed was marked as the answer   
    After replacing the ASMedia controller with a 5 sata port JMB585 Chipset controller, 'soft' reboots work fine and all drives show up properly on either full shutdowns or Unraid OS restarts.
