Synology NAS drives transfer to UnRAID
I'm 90% certain it's either RAID 5 or 6. So in this case, it will not work to transfer the disks directly to the UnRAID system. Thanks for the info! I'll start looking for some harddrives that I can put the important data on and then migrate the files to them. Then once that's done, I'll move the HDD's from the Synology to the UnRAID machine and then I'll probably sell the DS415+.

Synology NAS drives transfer to UnRAID
My Synology NAS is slowly dying. I also have an UnRAID machine and I’d like to explore whether it’s possible to move the hard drives from the Synology NAS into the UnRAID server. The main question is: will the data on those drives still be valid and accessible, or would I risk corrupting the files by transferring them this way? I have a lot of photos, videos, documents, and other important files on the Synology that I don’t want to lose. I could copy everything to separate HDDs first and then move them into the UnRAID server, but if I can avoid that extra step, I’d prefer it. Has anyone here done this before? Are there tutorials (video or written) that explain the process? System details and situation Synology NAS DS415+ with 4× 20 TB Seagate HDDs The NAS can temporarily be fixed by installing a 100-ohm resistor, but that’s not a long-term solution. I don’t want to keep running both the NAS and UnRAID separately. UnRAID server: HP Z840 Currently 1× 1 TB Samsung SSD I also have an old computer that’s failing, so I’ll salvage the SSDs from it to use as cache drives in the UnRAID server.

@Stampy is the script you made also applicable for the other arr's? Or only for Radarr?

Goodday, @JorgeB see the attached log files. I just haven't gotten any clue out of it what could be the reason for the sudden "unreachableness" of the system. I was thinking, could it maybe have to do with Cloudflare clogging up? syslog-previous syslog

Fixed it, there was a typo in the paths.. Very basic rookie mistake...

Thanks! I'll go for further help to the TDARR forum. It's a good point you brought that up. Apologies.

TDARR setup issues
Hmmm, seems interesting it's trying to do an .iso (which, by my knowledge is not a video format). I've gone to this section, and just put in mkv,mp4, as those are the 2 files that I have in my library. Right now, it still kicks back error on the "transcode" & the "health" section. Ok, that's interesting. Is this an error on my end in the TDARR settings? It will always come back with everything in the queue that will be errored. 700+ errors, I couldn't imagine it's all ISO files? See more info below from the end of the log. TDARR setup issues
Goodday, I'm trying to have TDARR installed, I followed along the YouTube tutorail of SpaceInvader One. But I'm running into an issue, and that's due to my unusual setup. The setup is as follows: I have my UnRAID machine I have my files on a Synology NAS I setup all the directories correctly, but I'll get the following errors back: [2025-03-28T09:32:02.459] [INFO] Tdarr_Server - Sending 736 files for extraction [2025-03-28T09:32:06.232] [ERROR] Tdarr_Server - stderr: { } [2025-03-28T09:32:06.238] [WARN] Tdarr_Server - FFprobe was unable to extract any data from this file: "/mnt/remotes/SYNOLOGY-NAS-SERVER/data/media/movies/Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014)/Dawn of the Planet of the Apes 2014 BD3D 1080p BluRay REMUX AVC DTS HD MA 7 1 Asmo.iso" as the FFprobe result is {} I have not really found a solid solution on how to fix this. I googled the warning above. But have not found a real solid thing that would work in my case. I'm known to the weirdness of my setup. But, as of yet, can't change this in the short to mid-term. If someone knows what I could troublehsoot and maybe help me dive into this issue, that would be highly appreciated! If I need to add more log files or other sections that would be neccessary, please let me know!

7.0.0 - UnRAID "Crashes"(?) - CPU limiting possible?
Sorry for the late reply. I do have a very interesting setup right now. As it's a start of the full / complete build. I have my storage on a Synnolgy NAS. But, due to lack of "power", I bought an old Z870, that will have all the brains. I'm very aware this is less of ideal. But this was currently the quickest fix for my issue, where I needed compute power, rather than storage. I have 1 TB SSD inside the UnRAID system, but all the storage is on the Synology NAS. @JorgeB I have a log service running now. When the issue happens again, I'll share them here. But this could be a long time @MowMdown I will take this into consideration. But I'll be waiting for financial focus, that I can put in the UnRAID machine. Then some more HDD's, and some SSD's for cache will be brought into the system. Thanks all, and have an incredible Sunday!

7.0.0 - UnRAID "Crashes"(?) - CPU limiting possible?
Hi, I've been using UnRAID for a few weeks/months and love it, but I’m facing an issue where the system becomes unresponsive, and I can’t access the UI (locally or remotely). The only way to restore access is a physical reboot, which is inconvenient due to its placement. I suspect this happens when the CPU is pushed too hard—once, I saw all cores hitting 100% before the system froze. This often occurs when multiple users make heavy requests on Overseerr. Is there a way to prevent this, such as limiting CPU usage or reserving some cores for system stability? Would underclocking help? Thanks!

Event ticketing app
Good morning, I'm looking for a piece of software that I can host on UnRAID and that I can use for some small events that I host. I looked around and found: Pretix & Attendize. But... I can't find it on the app store on UnRAID. Someone that's aware of an existing app on the UnRAID store that could fulfill my needs? Thanks!

UnRAID machine connected to Synology NAS
@JorgeB Thanks! Is there anything else I should setup inside UnRAID or Synology to get this to work properly? Or is it litterally as easy as that? Maybe, if someone knows or already has written an guide and could share that with me. That would be amazing!

UnRAID machine connected to Synology NAS
Goodday, I just purchased an older HP Z840 for a good price and would like to have that setup as my Unraid Device. The main goal for the Unraid device as of yet, is to be a workhorse and do more power intensive tasks that my Synogloy NAS can't keep up. My NAS is currently the storage house and I would - for now - like to keep it that way. Therefore I would like to connect the Synology NAS and the UnRAID machine connected and that it will write / read files between the two. The Z840 has 2 ethernet ports, so I was thinking I could maybe connect the two directly together for a fast(er) connection. So hence the following questions and guidance; Is it possible to achieve a direct ethernet connection between the Z840 (UnRAID machine) and the Synology NAS? How to setup the machines to work together, or what should I be aware of when I'm following this method? Primarly how to setup folders and stuff in UnRAID / Synology when installing apps, etc. What are things to be aware of? In the future I would like to have the UnRAID machine to take over the Synology NAS. But that future is not right now. Thanks in advance!

Beginner / Rookie - Old PC to UnRAID Home Server
Hi, Just coming back to the topic after I had a long brainfart. This project is still in it's research phase, as I'll need some more money to have a different PC that I can physically sit behind and do stuff on. Currently I would like to do a few things for the future where I want to keep using my Synology NAS in combination with an UnRAID machine. The current use cases are this: Having the Synology NAS with 48TB of storage as a long term storage and backup system. I have 4 drives in it, this would mean that 2 drives could fail simultanously and everything would be (yes, in theory) still be OK. This is something I can live with on that end. The UnRAID machine would be more like a working horse, I would run services on it like: - Arr's for media and streaming - Docker - Various Non-SaaS alternatives for my personal free-time hobby / business thingy - Homarr - Mealie - TDarr - Photoprism - Cloudflare (Tunnels) - Maybe 1-2 VM's so I can try out some Linux stuff from time to time. Now.. the big question: Is it possible to combine this setup. So you have a Synology NAS for long time storage You have an UnRAID machine for the powerwork. I do think this will bring a lot of extra complications and would be more hassle to setup. But it's something that would fit my short-term budget really well at this moment. I would like to have 1 propper machine in the future. But at this moment I can't bring up that financial sacrifice. And as of now, I kinda had to turn off all the Docker containers on my Synology NAS, as the performance is so underwhelming, that watching a movie through Plex is just not really doable at all right now. Thanks in advance!
