Tips for improving cpu iowait
Hello. Fairly new to this and would like some recommendations for how someone experienced would set up my hardware to minimise iowait. Currently running i5 12400, on a b760 MB, 64GB ram, 3x 970evo nvme ssd 1TB, crucial bx500 2TB sata ssd (currently not being used as it was slowing downloads used as a cache drive), plus 5x spinning drives for the array. No parity as all of the data is fully replaceable with zero effort on my part. Currently I am running 2x 970evo for the app data/system/images mirrored, 1x 970evo as a download cache, running Plex transcoding with ram. Currently getting issues with iowait fairly often running sabnzbd and all of the art’s and Plex, and it is causing issues with Plex streams stopping and starting periodically for outside users, even when it is a direct stream with no transcoding. How would you configure your setup to minimise iowait?

Trying to get split levels right.
Ok, thank you. All good on the tv shows, they’re in the same share so can’t have different settings anyway. The movies are the priority and not having duplicate folders for single movies with the different files split across them.

Yeh I had found that post and a number of others. Though I am still unsure which option I pick for my particular situation.

Trying to get split levels right.
Hello, Trying to get my split levels right for my media share. Currently my folder structure is as follows. data(share)/media/movies/individualmoviefolders/moviefiles data(share)/media/movies-1080/individualmoviefolders/moviefiles data(share)/media/tv/showfolder/seasonfolder/showfiles data(share)/media/tv-1080/showfolder/seasonfolder/showfiles What I am trying to achieve is to not have any of the files inside the individual movie folders split up. Inside a particular movie's folder there is the movie file, a info file, an image file for the movie cover and an art file. I would just like all of the files relating to one specific movie not spread across drives. TIA

New setup/build advice.
Yeh I did notice that. Future bandwidth isn’t an issue, 2.5g is fine. But as a result I changed the sas to a single 9300-16l

New setup/build advice.
Hello. As a long time basic nas user my mind has recently been opened and am now building a machine for unRAID and I wanted to see if there was anything majorly wrong before I pull the pin. Usage for the machine will be: 2x sonarr, 2x radarr, overseerr, flaresolverr, prowlarr, qbittorrent, sabnzbd, and Plex with hardware transcoding for 4k for about 6 users being able to transcode video and audio +subtitles remotely and myself locally. I want the machine to be able to stream to all of my users while also having them be able to interact with overseer without it being slow, and for sabnzbd to be able to download while unpacking without pausing to process, all simultaneously. The idea for the setup is that 1x name ssd will house the containers, 1x nvme ssd will be used purely for downloading/unpacking by sabnzbd, and the the arr’s will move the completed files to the drive pool, which I’m hoping to set up as raid5 and be able to expand as I get more drives up to a max of 16 hdds. My main priority is speed, I want the users to go from requesting a movie to watching it in minutes. There is a third nvme slot on the MB if it might help to use that as well The pc part picker list doesn’t have the ram as it wasn’t there. But it’s 64gb 3200 ddr4. And it also didn’t have the lsi sas card I found either, was thinking two of these would do the trick? https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006831663542.html?_randl_currency=AUD&_randl_shipto=AU&src=google https://pcpartpicker.com/list/mVK94M Any feedback or recommendations are welcome and appreciated 😁
