Solutions

  1. bdb's post in random shutdowns and reboots when idle was marked as the answer   
    After numerous memory configs and swapping the power supply, still getting the same results, I finally noticed something in the syslog-previous:
    The problem was a faulty power button. Disconnecting it from motherboard seems to have fixed everything.
