  1. I am considering a new small min ITX build for a 2nd Unraid NAS. As such the sole PCI space will likely be taken up for a great number of HDDs. In order to have an alternative access to the Unraid NAS (when the Ethernet is disconnected), I was hoping to utilise a USB wifi dongle. I am hoping not to have to utilised the PCI for a wifi card. Has anyone successfully achieved this? I did a quick search on the forums and the hardware compatibility without much luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated. -Alex
  2. I had two queries with regard to PATA drives and experiecnes. I seem to be going around in circles so any help would be greatly appreciated. The first is whether from everyones experience a PATA drive is suitable to act as the cache drive? This would be, I presume, in comparison to using a SATA equivalent. The second is whether it is possible to place two PATA drives (not cache in this example) onto the same channel/cable and whether the array itself or performance takes a dramatic hit. Any experiences would be fantastic and much appreciated. -Alex
  3. I also am very curious as to how people have implemented an FTP service on their unraid setup. I find myself in the same boat as the poster, Windows savey, but completely useless in Linux. Any suggestions? -Alex
  4. samba is interpreting the permissions as it being a "protected operating system," file. Uncheck "hide protected operating system files" in file-explorer, and you should see it. Thank you. I will give it a go.
  5. Just curious as to why I can not actually see the 'go' file on my flash drive. I have edited the one included in the latest version, but when I go to copy it into the config directory it says that it is there, yet I still can not see it. Hidden files have been enabled. Any ideas? -Alex
  6. I am just curious from more so a "lay mans" perspective what interesting things people have added on to unRaid to enhance the overall experience? Just generally what more can be achieved? I am interested to hear the experiences of everyone. -Alex
