    Das war die Lösung! (nach einigem suchen)
    Ich habe die Unassigned Disks Plugins (beide) installiert. Wichtig!: Dann in den Einstellungen von UD (Zahnrad) den destructive Mode aktivieren.
    Dann kann man die alte Partition löschen, indem man auf das rote X neben der Partition klickt. Danach erscheint neben dem Laufwerk ein Format Button.
    Dateisystem auswählen und formatieren.
    Danach lässt sich die Platte ins Array mounten.
    Paralell habe ich eine Festplatte unter Linux Mint Cinnamon (VM unter Windows) neu partitioniert und mit EXT4 formatiert. Hat auch funktioniert.
