Disk in error state
Just wanted to add a conclusion. I've replaced the disk with one that actually passed the SMART test and everything rebuilt. The faulty 3TB still passes the SMART tests but clearly has an issue somewhere. In any case, thank you for your help.

Disk in error state
Sorry for the delayed response. I purchased a cheap 2nd hand drive to swap out the "failing" drive so I can rule something out like you've suggested but after running a smart test on this new drive i get "Completed: read failure". I've attached the smart disk report, do I need to return this drive? Thanks again! tower-smart-20251008-1723.zip

Disk in error state
Thank you for confirming. I did as above and during the rebuild the same drive has errored again. I'm currently paused at 0.5% with 72 errors. Latest diagnostics attached. Please could you let me know I should proceed. Thanks again! tower-diagnostics-20251004-1828.zip

Disk in error state
Thanks again. When you say "rebuild on top". Would this be, stop the array, unmount the disk, start array, stop array, mount the disk again, start array.

Disk in error state
Thanks for such a quick reply. I've reseated the power & sata connections. Turned back on and was greeted with an "array turned good" message but i'm still seeing a red cross next to the drive and that its emulated. Latest diagnostics attached. tower-diagnostics-20251003-1524.zip

Disk in error state
Hi, I've just seen an error message pop saying that one of my disks is in error state, currently with 15 errors. I wanted to preform a smart disk check but when I go to do this, nothing happens. Reading your FAQ this looks like it might be becuase I need to restart the server? Before I do this, I've downloaded the logs and attached them. Could someone please let me know the best course of action is from this point. If the hard drive is dead / dying, would I be able to move all of the contents onto a recently installed 10tb drive? Thanks in adavnce. tower-diagnostics-20251003-1356.zip

Hi all, I updated to 7.0.1 and its stopped my matter-server docker communicating with my thread network. I found this thread; It looks like I just need to add a static route back in but I've never done this before and have no clue how to go about it. Please can someone explain it to me like im 5 years old. Thanks in advance!

VPN manager - Connection issues and DNS leaks
Sorry to bump my own post but I think I've sorted it.... Firstly, the errors in the log above were caused by a Mosquitto docker. Stopping that has stopped the constant errors. Not sure yet what the actual fix for this will be. Secondly, I've added --dns=10.2.0.1 to the extra parameters on the firefox docker and it seems to have worked! Checking dnsleak shows the VPN servers. Should this have been a necessary step or should the VPN manager have taken care of this? Adding 10.2.0.1 into the VPN managers Peer DNS server didn't work.

VPN manager - Connection issues and DNS leaks
Hi all, I am using ProtonVPN on my laptop and now that I have my Unraid server set up, I wanted to use it on there aswell. I've set up the configuration file on proton, downloaded it and improted it via the VPN manager in Unraid. Unfortunatly I'm having 2 issues; 1. When this does work (rarely), I go to check my DNS isn't leaking via https://dnsleaktest.com/ and everytime I have leaks (IP address is correct though) 2. When I then include ProtonVPN's DNS server address in the Peer DNS server, my firefox docker won't load any webpages and just times out. Active & Autostart are on. Ping replies. On Firefox I have Enable DNS over HTTPS using: off I have installed a 10gb nic on eth0 and although its working I did get the following lines in the log; Feb 24 19:36:58 Tower kernel: docker0: port 11(veth4579e7c) entered blocking state Feb 24 19:36:58 Tower kernel: docker0: port 11(veth4579e7c) entered forwarding state Feb 24 19:37:00 Tower kernel: docker0: port 11(veth4579e7c) entered disabled state Feb 24 19:37:00 Tower kernel: veth66be0bb: renamed from eth0 Feb 24 19:37:00 Tower kernel: docker0: port 11(veth4579e7c) entered disabled state Feb 24 19:37:00 Tower kernel: veth4579e7c (unregistering): left allmulticast mode Feb 24 19:37:00 Tower kernel: veth4579e7c (unregistering): left promiscuous mode Feb 24 19:37:00 Tower kernel: docker0: port 11(veth4579e7c) entered disabled state Feb 24 19:37:59 Tower kernel: docker0: port 11(veth4c358d3) entered blocking state Feb 24 19:37:59 Tower kernel: docker0: port 11(veth4c358d3) entered disabled state Do the above errors look like the issue I need to be solving? For context my ProtonVPN settings are as follows; Wireguard Platform: GNU/Linux Netshield: Block malware, ads and trackers Moderate NAT: Off NAT-PMP (Port Forwarding): On VPN Accelerator: On Secure Core Config Thanks in advance for any help!

Parity errors after data rebuild
So the parity finished and "corrected" 2562 errors but unraid is still showing 3968 errors next to my parity drive. I've now started a non-correcting check, what would be the next steps? Thanks again for your help so far! tower-diagnostics-20250222-0913.zip

Parity errors after data rebuild
Ahh I knew I should have waited. I've already set it going without, should I stop (5hours into a 24hour check) or should I let it continue and then do another check after, with?

Parity errors after data rebuild
Hi all, Hoping for some help. Yesterday one of my data drives had a red cross but I've had this before so I shutdown the array and re-did the data & sata connections, fired it back up again, ran some smart tests and then did a data rebuild. This completed but I woke up to one of my parity disks having errors. I've done some reading of forum posts but can I just get confimration of my next steps; 1. run parity check without correcting errors. 2. after that has completed, run it again with the correcting errors box ticked? Thanks for any help!
