  1. I went to MicroCenter and bought a new USB3 external hard drive dock.

I figured I'd be wasting my money so I unpackaged it very carefully.

Not ONE problem copying files back ever since.  There's no reason why two older docks shouldn't work and this one does.  I can only imagine, somehow, there's a limiter on the size of the hard drive or on the NAS end of it.  We're talking only 6TB.

AND the really sad thing was, all because a couple of movies weren't playing correctly.  KODI playback configuration needed a change and everything plays as it should.

    I went completely stupid TWICE.

Well, it fixed it, it seems.

I went by my office and got a different external USB case (not really a case, but hard drive drop in).  I could not get the backup drive to be recognized.  My Windows 10 computer would ding but no explorer window opening the drive.  I moved the drive to a different USB port on my Razer laptop.  BOOM.  Drive found.  Copies like before.  No IO errors with windows copy.  Will re-download Teracopy to see if I get the createiocompletionport error (but I doubt I will).

So to whoever is getting this error.  Check every part of your connection.  Mine was the USB dock AND USB port it was plugged into.

Back to not working, again.  I'm shutting it all down and walking away from it.  I can't find a work-around to rebuilding my unraid server from my backups.  I'm done with this.  Very frustrating.

Your approach to fixing these issues doesn't make much sense, to me at least.

  4. I, too, am getting this error all the sudden.

I upsized a disk, overpopulated and found stuttery performance.  I deleted all files and am now copying back over from my good backup.  Failure errors abound.

    Can't figure out why.

I'm wondering if it's the router.  Had a short in my home wiring and it tripped a breaker.  Not sure, but internet has been slightly won't.  Have been watching The Crown from unfair and never a glitch.

How can I tell my router needs replacing?  They are so expensive, now.

  5. Long and short of it.  I've swapped 3 3TB drives for 6TB drives over the past ?year?.  I watch mostly the newer movies I add to the array, but when I went to watch an old movie (that was re-populated through parity rebuild) it was stuttering.  I realized more that one movie didn't play smoothly.  I, now, don't feel comfortable that unraid repopulated the data correctly (maybe not true, but...).  Decided it wasn't worth troubleshooting since I have a full backup of each disk.

So, now, I'm deleting a disk, one at a time, and copying the movies back onto the drive.   Since I have backups, I've decided to un-assign parity (speed isn't that much faster, so in hindsight I would not recommend doing that nor would I have done it).

Question - my parity drive, when I re-assign it back into the array, will flip out some things have changed while others have stayed the same.  Should I just let it go through a party check and fix it all or should I delete all the parity data (through pre-clear utility, I guess) and let unraid rebuild from scratch???

I don't know why the array seems screwed up, a bit, but putting fresh copies of everything seems like the best move, at this point.

  6. I Had a 3TB drive in my array.  I replaced it with a 6TB drive.  After adding a few movies on it I realized the drive was bad (movie files wouldn't play or would act finicky).  I replaced the drive and did a rebuilt.

I'm realizing the bad files were now merely copied to the new drive as bad files.  I do have a separate backup of these movies.

    So, do I...

Simply select all the files in the drive and delete them.  Then copy my backup drives data to the empty drive?  Seems like this really clutters things.  Is there a better way of wiping this drive clean and starting over?

Thank you for any help you can provide,

    Rick

  7. Thank you, Baby Jesus, for this!

I used to dread having to add a drive to my unraid.  I've wait and wait until it was absolutely necessary.  I'd have to re-read how to do it (because I'd forget between pre-clears).  It was always a pain in my butt.

This plugin is a dream come true!  Thank you, thank you, thank you...

  8. This is from the step by step guide link I posted:

    Download MediaInfo from HERE

Note: You must download the CLI version of MediaInfo (look for CLI in the filename)

If you are on windows 32bit get the package MediaInfo_CLI_x.x.x.x_Windows_i386.zip

If you are on Windows 64bit get the package MediaInfo_CLI_x.x.x.x_Windows_x64.zip

If you are on Mac get the package MediaInfo_CLI_x.x.x_Mac_Universal.dmg

If you are on another operating system, choose the appropriate package.

NOTE: If you are on Mac or Linux you may need to make the mediainfo.exe file executable before it will be recognised by YAMJ: chmod 755 *.exe

In the YAMJ folder create a new folder and name it MediaInfo (no spaces) extract the files into that folder

and I agree with the above, those are not errors and will not stall your scan.

  9. Skank -

All this is new to me.  I play around with computers but don't know more than I know.

I stayed pretty cookbook with my install.  I followed this thread from the beginning to a 'T'.  I installed yamj on my laptop and scanned my movies (using the step by step guide found here: http://code.google.com/p/moviejukebox/wiki/StepByStepInstall.  I copied the index file and jukebox folder that it generated to my unRaid and saw how it looked on my Popcorn Hour.  I refined my naming schemes for those movies and shows that had missing artwork, deleted the jukebox and index files and ran it again, and again, and again until my movie wall was pristine.  I then changed my skin to Aeon and rescanned again.  Once that was perfect I moved forward.

Then I used this thread to install yamj on my unRaid.  I even changed the name of my share to Movies so I wouldn't have to change any scripts.  I used the URL that is listed about 8 posts up that someone posted for me for the install files.  I copied it into my Movies folder.  I used http://code.google.com/p/moviejukebox/downloads/list for the latest stable version of yamj and copied it on top of the one I downloaded figuring the bundled install had an older yamj version in it.  I changed my skin to Aeon.  Ran the script, got the permissions error, searched this thread and found a solution and it ran great.  1.5 hours to run and my Movie Wall is spot on.

I don't know anything about Enversion to help you, but...  Are you sure you have Java installed?  There is also a media file that must be dropped into the media info file, if I remember correctly.  Please read the code.google.com step by step page and maybe something will jump out at you that you forgot to do.  You are really close to getting it done, you just have to look for the last bit.

    Good Luck.

  10. Type / copy paste this:

    chmod +x /mnt/user/Movies/YAMJ/My_YAMJ.sh

    'enter' and then type this:

    chmod +x /mnt/user/Movies/YAMJ/MovieJukebox.sh

    'enter' and then rescan (yamj-rescan).

  11. I'm working on mine right now.  I was getting the same errors.  Found a possible solution and it is scanning as I type.  Give me one minute to cut/copy what you need to do.  I am not doing Eversion, though, just yamj with Aeon skin.  Sit tight I'll post in a couple of minutes...

  12. What does Eversion add/bring to the table?  Is it easier to set up?  Does it run / scan faster?

I have the next two days free so I'll be installing yamj on unraid Friday or Saturday.

  13. Have Aeon skin with yamj working on pc.  It took me a few starts to get cover art and links to work.  I tried to have my kid's dvds that are actually tv episodes displayed as tv episodes but that made no sense after I realized it.  Now all is working nicely.  I am still copying jukebox folder and index file over to share on unRAID after each addition of a movie and want to move from this.  I'm ready to make the switch to it running on my unRAID.  Link to original file needed is dead (on Lime-Technology site).  I've seen a link to another site (not the mediafire site) but can't find it.  Anyone know the URL?

  14. Ran YAMJ on my laptop.  Had a few hiccups but now it's working.  Wow, I wished I'd have done this so much sooner.  I'm cleaning up my filenames so I don't have to edit the index file - I'd rather it gets it right on its own.  I think I'll move on to a skin after this.  I've tried a file manager (don't have the name with me here at work) but didn't get my changes to 'stick'.  I'm trying to remove the small language banners at the top corner of the cover art and running into problems.  My 'change this code line to...' skills are lacking but I'll keep trying.  Once I'm done cleaning up a few more errors (cover art / movie listings that I don't have so I have to search that out / TV series (mostly my kid's shows) need to be turned into series / and dead links where you hit play and nothing happens) I'll move forward.

So glad I'm doing this but at first was daunting.  I wished there was a better one place sticky guide for director / filename structure.  I did eventually find the google code wiki pages which helped immensely.

  15. I have the A-200 Popcorn hour.

When you say PC - I hope you mean unRaid.  My unRaid was build 09/2010:

    Supermicro MBD-X7SBE LGA 775 chipset

    2 GB RAM

    Intel Celeron 430

Is having YAMJ on the NAS or on the laptop I upload my iso's to the best option?  Reading more about this it seems when I upload my iso's (through a laptop connected to the network) I could simply update YAMJ on my laptop at the same time and it would create a updated file on the unraid that Popcorn hour would access when starting up.  Is this correct?  So, YAMJ on the NAS or created from the laptop is a decision I have to make.  Best option?

The link on Lime Tech's site to YAMJ no longer functions - can I download directly from YAMJ website?

I'll start this entire process tomorrow.  Glad to know someone is out there!

  16. I've had my unRaid for a couple of years.  About 750 movies on the unRaid and viewed via Popcorn Hour.  Really tired of the tree directory navigation and want to give this a go.  My tech / code knowledge is low on the scale of what I read on these forums.  I did get this far on my own though!

Wish me luck.  I hope there's someone out there still reading this thread because I know I'm going to hit a few walls!

One quick question - how long does the initial scanning of about 750 movies take?
