  1. Did you ever build this? My use would be very similar to yours and I am interested in building a similar machine.
  2. Let's say that all of my drives are currently 4TB. If I upgrade my parity disk to 6TB, will my parity check speed be affected or does the parity check stop after the largest data drive is covered?
  3. @ich777 @Sic79any update on Blue Iris?
  4. I'm was running an older server with a mixture of 1 & 2 TB drives and a 4TB parity. Everything ran fine. I replaced a 2TB data drive with a 4TB drive. The rebuild goes fine until it gets to about 73% when it slows to a crawl. I've restarted it multiple times and it happens at the same spot. tower-diagnostics-20200126-0939.zip
  5. Background: I've had my unRAID server running since 2008. I'm pretty cutting edge with an ABIT AB9 motherboard and a Core 2 Duo CPU. 😀 I think that I've only updated the software once from v4.3.3 to v6.1.9 and added disks as necessary. I've had 2 disk failures along the way and UnRAID recovered the data flawlessly. I've only ever used my server as data storage. I'd like to change that and start using more of the features that didn't exist when I first started using unRAID. Question: I need Motherboard/CPU recommendations since I've been out of the game for a while. I plan to run Blue Iris w/ eight 4MP cameras. I'd like to also run OpenALPR on the server. https://www.openalpr.com/ https://devhub.io/repos/openalpr-openalpr I'd also like to run Plex and Kodi. I am currently running 12 drives. That number probably won't grow too much. Thank you.
  6. I've got an older system with an ABIT AB9 Pro motherboard. The SATA card of choice used to be the SUPERMICRO AOC-SASLP-MV8. Is this still my best option or has something better come along?
  7. It appears to have worked. I'm doing a parity check right now to be 100% sure. If you don't hear back from me then everything's fine. Thanks for the help.
  8. That could definitely be the cause. That disk is 100% full. I'm transferring some files now. Hopefully I'll have some time tomorrow to see if it works.
  9. Disk4 is the problem. WDC_WD10EACS-00ZJB0_WD-WCASJ0361661 Motherboard: ABIT AB9 Pro LGA 775 Intel P965 Express ATX Intel Motherboard All of my drives are WD Caviar Green drives. syslog_2010-07-11_1430.zip
  10. I have been running 4.3.3 for a while now, with no issues. Today I tried upgrading to 4.5.6 and one of my data drives shows up as "Unformatted". I then tried to upgrade to 4.5.4 and had the same issue. I have now reverted back to 4.3.3 and everything is fine. Anyone have any ideas? I've got the syslog file, but I have no clue how to decipher it. Plus it's 28 pages long, so I'm not going to post it unless someone asks for a specific part of it.
  11. Has anyone found another solution? This trick doesn't seem to work anymore.
  12. I appreciate and respect (almost) everyone's comments. You guys have talked me into just buying the extra license for a spare. I appreciate the effort that Tom has put into the product and I still consider it a bargain.
  13. I think that your opinion is about as stupid as it gets. I plan to buy a product for its advertised price. What I do with it after that, assuming that I don't violate its terms of use, is of no concern to anyone else. So next time you decide to get high-and-mighty do it somewhere else. Maybe I should quit carpooling to work since I am cheating the oil companies out of their money since I am splitting gas with a coworker. Or maybe when my wife and I go to Subway I should start ordering two 6" subs instead of splitting a 12" sub.
