  1. Wow, that's right. I just noticed on newegg, the form factor says proprietary. I enjoyed reading this thread and also keeping track of the silverstone ds380 thread too.
  2. SUPERMICRO MBD-X7SPE-HF-D525-O would this board be ok too. Only difference seems to be ipmi and onboard video is different.
  3. When I browse my share from windows, unraid will spin up a drive. The cache script is running. what could cause the spin up? I recently added 2 new drives and changed ram.
  4. I'm using a dune smart H1 for streaming. I have a gigabit lan. The dune is not gigabit though. I'm streaming from my desktop pc without issue. When I say there is spin-down, I'm only referring to the other 4 drives not being accessed. Ya I didnt mean to imply all drives spin-down while I'm streaming.
  5. I'll have to check this. I remember using default setting of 1 hour without problems, so I hadn't tried changing it yet. But tonight I'll try it.
  6. My user share has a split-level of 2. I think that makes sure my particular movie folder is all on one drive. I'm streaming bluray folders.
  7. I notice after an hour when the drives spin down, I get a video and audio hiccup. Then after that, playback will skip every few minutes. Other times it takes 2 hours for this to start happening. I don't really know how to troubleshoot this issue. I'm pretty sure it's the unraid box because I never get skips on my desktop pc. edit: I should have read the tips direction more carefully. My problem with skips was cause I wasnt using the directory cache script. I am using that script right now and no more video skips. syslog-2011-05-24.txt
  8. I saw at my local best buy had Western Digital WD20000CSRTL. Did anyone get this? And is this the wd eads? Ok amazon, reviewer said it's eads or ears. I am thinking of getting 1 or 2 and returning some of the seagate drives. I'd like to follow the tip of buying different drives.
  9. Seagate ST32000542AS. I did 2 preclears with cc34 firmware Raw_Read_Error_Rate 0x000f 118 099 006 Raw_Read_Error_Rate 0x000f 116 099 006 I did one preclear with cc35 firmware. Raw_Read_Error_Rate 0x000f 116 099 006 Raw_Read_Error_Rate 0x000f 114 099 006 It seems this raw read error rate keeps going down. Is this a bad sign for the drive? Also there wasnt any reallocated sector or pending. I am wary because of all the bad comments on newegg about failures within a few months.
  10. Does the loud clicking happen even when it's idle? If that's the case, I think I'll upgrade. I havent heard anything during the preclear and it hasnt been idle. But I've only had it for a few days.
  11. I just ran preclear twice on two of these seagate drives. I checked the syslog and didnt see any reallocate event. Should I upgrade the firmware from cc34 to cc35? I read it's suppose to fix clicking noise. What does this firmware fix other than clicking? Is clicking bad?
