  1. yes, I've just figured this out. For some reason I can't update my version of unraid so I started all over again with a trial key. I installed the linuxserver version of plex and it seems to be working fine, Can I transfer my account from my old USB stick to the new one which is currently in tial mode?
  2. Hi , I went to community applications to see if I could find another version of Plex but when I click on "available apps" nothing comes up. I can only find applications that Ive installed previously, like plex etc. I know I'm probably being stupid but I can't figure it out. I've also searched for Plex in community applications and nothing comes up as well.
  3. hi Squid I'm using Limetech unraid 6.3.5 EDIT: sorry I misunderstood. Yes, I am using the Limetech version of Plex media server
  4. hi. Thanks but my tower IP is still 192.168.1.5
  5. Haven't used my unraid server for a while (probably about 8 months). I had been using plex docker just fine up until then. However recently when I fire up my unraid server, I can log into the tower server on my pc, I can access my files on the server via windows explorer but when I try and open plex via http://192.168.1.5:32400/web/index.html which is how I always accessed it on my pc, I get This site can’t be reached 192.168.1.5 refused to connect. Plex media server is up to date (latest version) and is set to autostart. Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be wrong?
  6. Thanks all. Deleted network.cfg file and using DHCP and all works.
  7. Thanks for your reply. Sorry for my ignorance but how do I find out what subnet my router is on? I don't have a keyboard/monitor attached to the server I'm afraid. If I delete the network.cfg file would that maybe solve the issue?
  8. Hi Set up Unraid several years ago and have only a vague recolection of it. Don't use it that regularly so not familiar with how things were set up. It worked flawlessly for years so I never touched it. Anyhow, changed ISP's and got a new router. Now I can't connect to my tower either through windows explorer or through the web interface. My tower was set up with an IP of 192.198.0.100 Do I need to modify some settings on the usb drive by editing something? Any help appreciated. Thanks
  9. thanks man. Youve helped me so much. That worked fine. Brilliant!!
  10. Not sure if this is the right place to post this but I'm having immense trouble finding any info on how to configure plex to find my media. Basically I've installed the latest version of unraid 6.3.5 and am trying to get configure plex to find my media. So far I've installed Docker and community applications. I've searched on community applications for 'plex' and found several versions. I've installed the linuxserver version since it seems to be the most popular but I'm at a loss to know how to configure it. Can someone give me some pointers? Here is the set up page that I'm presented with when I click install. Not sure how to proceed. Is 'repository' the place where my media is stored?
  11. Hi I'm trying to set up unraid (latest version) and despite a few minor issues with the registration key, I've got to the point where I'm trying to start the array on the MAIN tab and I noticed that the array start button is greyed out with a message next to it saying "Cannot contact key-server. Please check your network settings." My network settings are in the jpg: Can anyone help? I've searched the net but not found anything concrete. One person had a similar problem but resolved it by fixing the system time settings which I've already done. EDIT found out that my default gateway (router) was listed as 192.165.0.1 instead of 192.168.0.1. Changed this fixed the problem.
  12. thanks. the other reports are there but not the drive that is still preclearing. if I stop preclear, will it appear?
  13. thanks. how do I get the smart log of the new drive?
  14. ok. So I RMA-ed the drive and got a new one yesterday. I've got 3 drives in the machine, all the same WD 2tb green drives. I decided to preclear them all again. I started them all off at the same time. The 2 old drives finished preclearing in about 16 hours but the new drive is still preclearing after 25 hours and showing no signs of finishing anytime soon. Here is the current status : note the read speed is 468 kB/s unRAID server Pre-Clear disk /dev/sdd = cycle 1 of 1, partition start on sector 64 = Disk Pre-Clear-Read completed DONE = Step 1 of 10 - Copying zeros to first 2048k bytes DONE = Step 2 of 10 - Copying zeros to remainder of disk to clear it DONE = Step 3 of 10 - Disk is now cleared from MBR onward. I tried changing the cables and the sata port on the old drive and it made no difference Any ideas what might be going on here?
  15. No, its not! If you drop any of those windows, that preclear will be aborted. with screen, it will continue. sorry i should have been clearer. I'm running screen in each putty telnet window
  16. many thanks for that. Actually Ive got 3 putty windows open to preclear 3 drives. I suppose its the same thing .
  17. Hi I'm trying to preclear 3 2tb drives. I've installed screen as per the manual but I'm a bit confused about the step that says: Does this mean I can use putty to open a telnet session? Also, if my network drops does the preclearing carry on? If so, how do I see it's progress? I'm guessing that I just open up a new putty/telent window and type screen -r Is that right? Thanks for any help
  18. Thanks for the advice. I bought 3 WD 2TB drives from you to go in an unraid box. Two are performing adequately but one is severely under performing in speed tests. I've run a 400MB read test on each drive using dd of=/dev/null bs=4096 count=102400 if=/dev/sdd 2 of the drives report read speeds of around 150mb/s whereas the other one is at 3.9mb/s . After preclearing it got better but was erratic. Anyway, I've has enough messing about with it. I'VE RM-ed it.
  19. Hi and thanks for your input. This SMART test is the first thing I've done since a preclear on the drive. The preclear completed all 10 steps but on the final post- read I lost the network on the putty session.I noticed that on the final read the speed had slowed down to several kb/s. When I tested to see if the drive had been precleared using the "-t" option, it said it had. Because I lost the putty session I didn't get the final SMART test results, hence this SMART test. Bearing this in mind do you think the drive is worth persevering with?
  20. Hi, I have a problematic drive (WD 2tb) and have run a long SMART test on it and was wondering if someone could take a look and see if I need to RMA it.I don't really have much of a clue as to what I'm looking at and would be most grateful if someone could help me. 21. I'm doing a long smartctl (about halfway through)test and I wanted to see what results have come up so far, so I did smartctl -a -A /dev/sda to check. Will this have aborted the test or will it just carry on to the end?
  22. thanks. When I've finished preclearing the other 2 drives, I'll power down and mess about with the cables. The problematic drive in question sdb has the identifier WDC_WD20EZRX-00D8PB0_WD-WCC4M9YLCTRE. Will this be written on the drive somewhere? Presumably this is a serila number?
  23. Did as you suggested and my sdb drive is definitely under performing. 3.9mb/s compared to 45 and 49mb/s for the other 2: Disk /dev/sda: 7851 MB, 7851737088 bytes Disk /dev/sdb: 2000.4 GB, 2000398934016 bytes Disk /dev/sdd: 2000.4 GB, 2000398934016 bytes Disk /dev/sdc: 2000.4 GB, 2000398934016 bytes root@Tower:~# dd of=/dev/null bs=4096 count=102400 if=/dev/sdd 102400+0 records in 102400+0 records out 419430400 bytes (419 MB) copied, 9.24476 s, 45.4 MB/s root@Tower:~# dd of=/dev/null bs=4096 count=102400 if=/dev/sdc 102400+0 records in 102400+0 records out 419430400 bytes (419 MB) copied, 8.50575 s, 49.3 MB/s root@Tower:~# dd of=/dev/null bs=4096 count=102400 if=/dev/sdb 102400+0 records in 102400+0 records out 419430400 bytes (419 MB) copied, 107.331 s, 3.9 MB/s
