  1. Hi, great app. I plan to sell my server, so to clear the disk for the next user i plan to zero them out. Am i correct if the fastest way is to use the "Erase All disk" option, then enable the "Skip Pre-Read" and Skip Post-Read" ? Is that the fastest way to erase them so nothing can be recovered ? Edit: my server has 8gb of ram, how many disk can i clear at the same time ? Thank you in advance for the help.
  2. Great I see it comes in two models here: BR900GI & the more costy BR900G-GR As i can not find the difference between those two, and hope the model BR900GI will be enough. Edit: For now i can see the BR900G-GR can use Gigabit , while the BR900GI show 10/100 Network, maby it is a later version ? Hope BR900GI is the same model you have johnnie.black
  3. I can also get this one on sale now: APC POWER-SAVING BACK-UPS PRO 900VA. 230V But i cannot find any info about if it support APCUPSd or NUT.
  4. Hi I plan to put my server/nas that i built on an UPS I was hoping this UPS will work good with unraid and tell it to shut down: http://www.powerwalker.com/datasheets/Line-Interactive/PowerWalker%20VI%201500%20LCD.pdf Hoping this will fit good, else i must pay twice the price for an APC branded UPS.
  5. Thank you very much, i flashed the new firmware for the Marvell controller and disabled the VT-D in the Bios. I am now running and Parity synch that the system want (20+hours). Thanks again for the good help. Best regards Nortrek
  6. Hi Can you point me in the direction where i can find info about flashing the firmware for the marvell controller ? I am now running an parity synch, should i stop that until i fixed the flashing for the controller and the settings in the bios ? Best regards Nortrek
  7. My Asrock C2550D4I suddenly broke down and i got it replaced. All was fine the first day then suddenly it tells parity is invalid and 3 disks Show no device/missing. I have tested to check cables, replaced parity disk cable. I managed to start up and only parity show invalid, started an parity synch, then after some hours suddenly parity get grey in the middle of the process. Can somone help me to try to find out what could be wrong ? tower-diagnostics-20160730-1650.zip
  8. I just lost an wd green 1.5TB disk in the raid, tested it out and it seem broken. Is it possible to copy the files from the emmulated disk over to lets say another disk in the raid that have 5TB free on it ? I guess i have to use the shrink array method to copy it over and make a new config without the broken disk. If this will work i would be happy as i use all 12 slots on my motherboard and miss a slot for cache disk that i would free up for.
  9. Thank you both, i think i know what i need to do in there after you pointed me to Global share settings. Waiting for the preclear to get finished, then i will rebuild the new parity disk, move the old parity disk over to data disk and try to free up space from the disks. But is there anything wrong of having full closed disks ? Since i get mail from the server complaining about full disks.
  10. Hi I am trying to remember and digging in the sharing settings to try to get the disk shares. Can remember i seen a settings i did where i saw every disk before i set up windows user share. Could you give me a wink in the small direction where i can find these settings, or maybe link to a guide/post ? Would be really helpful
  11. Thanks for the answer, i feared it was like that. Do i have to open up share on each disk and the move over to the new, and will the parity disk update these changes when i move over like that ?
  12. My disks is now on 99 to 100% full, couple hundred gigs left on the raid server. I am now adding a new disk, when i expanding with the new disk, will it unload from all the full disk to the new one so they will not stay fully loaded ?
  13. My English is not so good so i try to understand all what you wrote. If i copy it over, can i use windows copy and just paste it from failing disk 1, to the fresh new disk 9 in the array, then new config and leave out the failing ? It is very slow process to copy from the server via another computer and back to the new hardisk. Woul`d be nice to have an filemanager on the server to copy internal. Thank you so much for all this help
  14. The new disk i putted in yesterday is just zeroed over night, so if i coul`d remove that one from the array and put it in the slot where the disk is starting to show sign of errors. The new disk i want to remove from the array got 0 bytes used so i don`t think it woul`d affect the parity disk much. The disk that need to be changed is not redballed yet. EDIT: Can i go into the failing disk 1 and copy the files there in to the new disk in the array, and then remove it from the raid ? That woul`d be easyest so i don`t have to remove the new data disk to replace the failing one.
  15. Hi Here is the photo i posted from my other post: I also attatched the Diagonostic report as an attatchment to this post. Thank you very much for the help tower-diagnostics-20150703-1526.zip
  16. Hi I have an failing disk, and i installed an fresh new disk yesterday that have not been filled with data yet. How woul`d i go forward to remove the new disk i installed, and then remove the failing disk and install the new disk in this slot ? EDIT: Can i unmount the failing disk and the new empty datadisk, then insert the new empty datadisk instead of the failing one and do an new config and let the parity rebuild the raid again ? Regards Nortrek
  17. I just notice that one of my disk have some warnings. Coul`d someone help me understanding the errors please. Here is an screenshot of the error:
  18. Hi I am trying to figure out what i have to do to get all secured, or if it is bad in some way to have this yellow unprotected storage under my shares. really appreciate the help i can get with this. Here is a photo of the message:
  19. Thank you for the good info, as you see i am not so much into this and it shows that i have more reading up to do about this. It is 30% so the speed does not seem to slow, but i can immagine it is very slower when i put in new 4TB disks. I will modify this post to solved, hopefully some other will search and use the information.
  20. By "forced to preclear" do you actually mean that you didn't preclear them but unRAID cleared them itself? Regardless, a disk that will be added to a parity array (thus increasing the number of drives) must be clear (all zeros) so parity will remain valid. I mean that when i added them to my server, the only option i can do is to clear them, and not go direcly to format as i used to do some months back when i added new disks. Ok, so there is not a way to skip this for disks that you kinda "trust" ? EDIT: I see it is 25% on those two new disks, is this for round 1 or is this % showing totaly for both disks ? Thank you for the quick answer.
  21. I got 2x 1TB disks i plugged in to my unRaid 6 sererver, and i see something have changed from some time back where i coul`d just click format on the disks. I got forced to preclear them first before adding them to the array, this is very good and i will use on new disks, but these two disks i trust so i woul`d be happy if i can skip this process ? Regards Nortrek
  22. Ok thanks I won`t drag out this post more then it need to be, and hope others can find it helpfull. You guys helped me with quick answers on this forum. Skål, and happy easter futher for you all
  23. Is there a big diference between BR900G-GR and an more costy version BR900GI As i can see it have other layout with the power cables, and in the info it says surge protection of only 10/100 network (thinking it is an old version they want to sell out) If this is an older model, i will just go for the smaller compact 550 that has enough juice to close down the server, and gigabit surge protection.
  24. Good to know, i updated my post as i can see there are 2 versions of the 900, the litle more simpler i think of BR900G-GR and an more costy version BR900GI. I added this late in my post, so just want to be sure that both versions are a good choice. Edit: I see the version i think to buy only have 10-100 Base-T protection , and not Gbit. So much to think of here, must be an old model.
