  1. 4k and 2k video are good examples. On the case, before I knew about unRaid and similar software, I picked up 2 Fractal R5's, one for my gaming PC and one for my HTPC/Server. Best case I've ever owned for cable management and air flow and lots of room for internal 3.5 drives. BUT if I had to do it over again I would have gone for a case with 3 X 5.25 bays instead of the 2 that come with the R5. Still, great case. Now, if the Canadian dollar ever makes a come back I might just upgrade to a full ATX case with at least 7-10 5.25 bays for expansion. Unfortunately most of these type cases are more geared towards gamers and look way too flashy. Combining the R5 look with 10 5.25 bays would be ideal and in my opinion, the perfect case for my needs. EDIT: I should probably clarify why I want so many 5.25's http://www.amazon.ca/StarTech-Aluminum-Trayless-Backplane-3-5-Inch/dp/B00OUSU8MI/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1453813286&sr=1-2&keywords=startech+trayless Future expansion.
  2. So my place of employment renovated the entire building including their server cabinet. I asked my boss what they were doing with the old one and he said "make it disappear". So I'm pretty new to the home server world, basically full ATX towers, so I have no idea what I just inherited. Is this cabinet a gateway drug or just a piece of scrap metal? Maybe I can turn it into a storage cabinet for paints and such in the work shop, I'm pretty handy that way. http://imgur.com/a/QZBxi uploaded 4 images, let me know and thanks!
  3. I disabled SMB2&3 because there is currently a compatability issue with SMB2&3 as implemented by SAMBA and SMB2&3 as implemented by Windows. I'm not sure that's how I did it exactly, but it did involve the command line. If you google how to disable it, there is a Windows support page on Microsofts website that describes the process. Edit: Found the Page You want to follow the instructions for "How to enable or disable SMB protocols on the SMB client" Honestly though, I think this will be fixed when unRAID updates to the latest version of SAMBA. Also if we can agree on a fix, can we perhaps sticky the solution since I've seen this question about a dozen times now. Really appreciate your reply, thanks!
  4. I have the same issue and found this thread which is active and might have a fix for you..... http://www.tenforums.com/network-sharing/7386-cant-see-other-computers-workgroup-windows-10-computer.html?s=460878d0231be20cf29a3c0d0a45ab4b The only fix I haven't tried is http://www.tenforums.com/network-sharing/7386-cant-see-other-computers-workgroup-windows-10-computer-7.html which is: "I discovered that my server on the network had defaulted to smb2. I changed the server to smb1, and yikes everything appeared under Network in Win 10 Pro 64. It seems any networked computer not on smb1 will cause all network browse to fail. " "CMD (admin) sc.exe config lanmanworkstation depend= bowser/mrxsmb10/nsi sc.exe config mrxsmb20 start= disabled" I did not try this yet because I don't know enough about SMB. Maybe someone here can enlighten me on whether or not this is a safe move to make with unRaid?
  5. I'm very new to unRaid and have just finished preclearing (using the preclear plug-in) 3 6tb WD reds. 2 came back perfect but the third came back with some Seek Error Read info which I dont understand. Should I be concerned? I have express RMA for another 2 weeks on this drive so exchanging it shouldnt be a problem as long as this problem warrants an exchange, could this just be bad cable? maybe I can re do the test using a different cable, 56 hours to preclear though...... I appreciate any help I get, Thanks. Also, am I finished with the preclear process or is there another step I should do before creating the array and starting a parity sync?
