  1. Im not sure, but I would guess so. You can use both drives over the single eSATA port or single USB2 port. Its actually a really nice thing to have laying around, even if you don't think you will need it right away.
  2. Just curious, i have the duet version, which i havent used since building my unraid server (used to be my storage method using that + many drives). How does one go about using it to preclear? That function could allow me to bring it out of the box in the basement.
  3. I recently swapped a drive. It seemed that by default the "maintenence mode" was checked so I was unable to access my shares during rebuild. If you still want access i think you have to make sure that is unchecked, but im not 100% sure. Even after rebuild, i was unable to access anything before i stopped and started the array again.
  4. I agree with this. If you turn on internet connection sharing on your main PC, it will assign an IP to your server and allow it to join the network. That should solve your problem.

    Norco SS-500

So I called IPCDirect since I never got a response via email. They said that they would have the SS-500 in stock again by Novemeber 25th (black friday). His response when I asked about the item was rather quick so im assuming there may have been alot of interest. Just an FYI in case anyone else is looking for these.
  6. Ok, im terrible with linux. I want to upgrade my Plex with the newest version and i am currenly using this plugin. How do i install the new one? I have downloaded the file (PlexMediaServer-0.9.5.1-56298e9-slackware.tar.bz2) but im not sure what to do from here. Can someone who has done this provide me with some easy instructions?

I sent a message to IPCDirect asking them to confirm that they had the SS-500 in stock. If they do i'll order a couple from them. Otherwise i'll start looking at other cages. I really like the Norco cage so trying for those if i can.

PM Sent. I would get the ones from IPCDirect, but I have a feeling the refund from mwave isn't going to be as fast as payment was sent. I want to make sure these are actually cancelled and I have my money back before I order 2 more.

    Norco SS-500

I wouldn't have any problem with a different cage, but I like a clean look and not sure what would look ok. The iStarUSA one linked below doesnt seem like it would look too terrible with a norco cage, maybe sandwich the norco in the middle of two of those? I dunno. Also, this is in an antec 900 if anyone has opinions on how it would look or an example maybe? http://www.mwave.com/mwave/SKUSearch.asp?scriteria=BA25916&pagetitle=iStarUSA%20BPU-350SATA-BPL%203x5.25%20to%205x3.5%20SATA2.0%20Hot-Sw
  10. Thanks for the info. I guess the update on changes feature works. I enabled it and tested it, seems to be working well. What are the major benefits to upgrading to the newest version of Plex? Im debating on if i want to do this but I don't want to mess anything up.

Well crap..... I hate when you can purchase something and payment goes through, only THEN do they tell you they don't have it. Dear Valued Customer: We regret to inform you that the following item requested on your order, has recently been placed on back order: BA31120 - NORCO SS-500 5 bay SATA / SAS hot swap rack module Unfortunately, we do not have a current ETA as to when we can expect this item in our warehouse.
  12. I just did one yesterday as well as on the 1st for my monthly, should be ok there. So i dont need to shutdown right? Just reassign the drives as i mentioned? Also, the data that was on the 1.5TB will show up when i move it to cache right? So i just have to delete it or do i needt o format the drive or anything?
  13. How much RAM does your server have? I've found that preclearing multiple 2TB drives simultaneously requires at least 2GB of RAM. I also tried to buy a couple of these drives last night. It seems that I bought the last drive in all of northern California and northern Nevada... I have 4GB. I was also creating a new section in Plex while the 2 preclears were running, so that may have had something to do with it. When i first built the server i was able to easily preclear 3 2TB EARS drives at the same time. 1st drive should be done soon, i'll start second one and see what happens, but im sure it will be fine.
  14. So i looked at the wiki for this but didnt really find what i was looking for. I have an older 1.5TB seagate i added to the array a few weeks ago when i was out of space. I just snagged a couple of 2TB Seagates from BB. I want to use one to replace the 1.5TB drive in my array with the 2TB drive and then use the 1.5TB as my cache drive. Can i simple stop the array and unassign the 1.5, assign the 2TB in its place, assign the 1.5 to cache and then start the array again? Or do i have to do this a different way?
  15. So even with auto update set to 6 hours, its not working. Even if i do Shift+clicking the update button it is still finding a show that is no longer in the folder i have set to this certain section. I actually moved it to another folder in a different section and its not adding it to the library there either.

Thank you so much. Ordered the 2 i needed.
  17. Good to know its not something broken on my end. Thanks!
  18. Hello. I upgraded to 5.0beta13 and then updated unmenu. Everything is working fine, just one small difference. The emails i get for parity checks no longer show speed and progress like they used to, only that a parity check is running. Was this feature lost? Example below. Before: Subject:unRaid Resync Notification Status update for unRAID Tower - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Status: The unRaid array is resync/rebuilding parity. 19. I myself have 4GB memory in my server while running cache_dirs and Plex. I have not had any issues at all. The memory dips down to as low as ~10MB available when im building a new library or watching a movie or something along those lines. If nothing is being streamed and server is idle, my situation is much like yours, majority of the memory is being utilized, but i have never run into any out of memory errors or anything like that. I was also however thinking of adding another 4GB since memory is so cheap now.
  20. @mgworek: Did you have to re-add all your media to the library? Or was all the meta data and stuff still there?

Anyone know a good source for these? Newegg is out and Amazon only has one from a 3rd party vendor. Im looking to buy two of them, if i cant find them i guess i'll have to go with something else and mismatch my cages. I saw some on ebay but i dont like spending that much on ebay, just not comfortable with it.
  22. I stopped at BB on my way home last night and grabbed the last two of these on the shelf. Started preclearing them and server crashed, doing one at a time now and seems ok, 15 hours in and all is good on first drive. I picked them up more for the what if factor and not because i needed the space just yet. Like others, i didnt want to be in a situation where my only option was paying $200 to replace a failed disk.
  23. I recently installed Plex on unRAID 5.0beta13 and have had no issues. I did realize that I needed to break down some of my collections to decrease load times in the meda manager and the client, 2500 movies takes a while to load. Couple questions. If i want to move the Plex data to a Cache drive so that my array will spin down, do i simple change the config and move the files, then start it up and Plex wont have to rebuild collections and meta data? Also, I have played with the auto update settings and have not seen it actually pick up changes aside from manually pressing the button to refresh the collection. I have gone from every day to 12 hours to now at 6 hours trying to get it to work, is this broken for others? I am also interested in upgrading to the newest version of Plex but i dont want to have to rebuild everything, hopefully there will be a easy upgrade option to retain current data. Anyone know anything about this?
  24. Alright, i got my Apple TV. I was able to jailbreak it and everything is running good with Plex on it. I really love this so far. Im only having one issue. I created a section for my SD movies and added the folders before i went to bed. When i woke up, i clicked on that section in the Media Manager and it locked up the page as well as the unraid web gui i had open in another tab. It does this everytime i select this one section now. None of my other sections have this problem. Anyone know anything about this problem or have any advice? Thanks
  25. So I installed Plex on my unRAID server and so far (haven't gotten my Apple TV yet, comes today) i love it. I have a question though regarding the Plex data files and where to store them. I currently have it set to store them on my only 7200rpm drive which also is pretty much empty. I don't really like the idea of the drives not spinning down, but i would also like all the data to be somewhat protected. I have an older Hitachi 750GB 7200rpm drive laying around. If i install that as a cache drive and store the files there, then i can just back those files up to the array weekly or daily or whatever, that would allow the array drives to spin down correct?
