  1. I re-ran the New Permission utility and it fixed the issue. I came across a brief mention of someone else running it for another issue but it didn't resolve the problem so i figured what the heck.
  2. Ok so I found a post about an orange ball. So just on the off chance I ran the mover script and everything went green but I'm still getting access denied when trying to access the share. I even created a new account and it doesn't work.
  3. I've searched the forums but really didn't come up with an answer to my problem so here it is. I'm running 5.06a and have 5 shares setup. Today I attempted to setup my son's laptop to my music share but was getting access denied. First thing I noticed was in the unRaid menu under the share tab the music share has a red ball next to the name. I tired a few things and disconnected my network mapping in an attempt to test and I can't get back in it. when I click on the browser icon next to the share name I can see the contents. I attempted to create a new share and it has a red ball next to the name as well. My other shares like Movies and TV seem to be working just fine. I'm under the impression the red ball is not online. what am I missing or doing wrong?
  4. Rajahal 6 foot is correct. I tend to buy everything from Newegg and all I found was a 6ft cable. It's wrapped up neatly inside. Neilt0 I was worried of getting the wrong one when I was trying to spec out memory so I ended up purchasing 2x2gb that i was sure would work. For what I'm using it for I didn't see the need to go with more, and I'm sure like most things I jump in head first and will end up re-buying later or in this case I bought to much and ended up with an Icydock single drive tray i'll never use. I have the 2.5 drive sitting under the frame towards the back away from the bunch of 4 pin power cables. Up top I have the 1.5tb drive sideways and I'm waiting on the last drive to arrive and I'll place it sideways next to it. With a plus license that maxes me out. Currently i'm only using 3tb of Blu-rays (MKV), Music, files/photos so I'll be set with a total of 9.5 when its done. Couldn't be happier.
  5. I was in the market for a 4 bay raid device to support my media room’s HDI Dune H1 via my home network. While doing some research I came across unRaid and once I realized it was more than just a bunch of drives and involved learning something new I was hooked. I love to tinker. I didn’t want to place the server in my media room cabinet cause it’s hard enough to keep that cooled even when the AC is running so it had to be small in order to sit on my desk in the family room. I came across neilt0 MicroServer build (Thank you for the inspiration) and minutes later the confirmation email was in my inbox from Newegg =) OS at time of building: unRAID 4.7 Plus CPU: AMD Athlon™ II NEO N36L (1.3GHz Dual Core, 12W TDP) Motherboard: Proprietary HP RAM: 4GB Kingston 240-pin DDR3 SDRAM ECC Unbuffered 1333 Case: HP Drive Cage(s): 4x Cold Swap Power Supply: 200W SATA Expansion Card(s): Future upgrade Cables: 6 foot ESATA to SATA cable to support the 6th drive Fans: 1x 120mm fan for whole chassis + 1x 40mm PSU fan Parity Drive: 2TB Hitachi HDS5C3020ALA632 Data Drives: 2TB WD20EARS, 2TB Hitachi HDS5C3020ALA632 , 2TB Samsung HD203UI, 1.5TB ST31500341AS Cache Drive: 500GB WD WD5000BPKT 7200 rpm Total Drive Capacity: 7.5 TB Primary Use: Movie, Music, File Storage Likes: Meets the wife acceptance factor and still provides me with plenty of storage and speed to meet my media needs. Dislikes: The case top is a pain to put back in place once removed but that’s not very often. Several cables had to be removed to slide the motherboard tray out to replace the memory but what do you expect when it’s such a tiny case. Add Ons Used: unMenu and a few support packages. Future Plans: I ordered a 2 port PCIe SATA card to support one more drive. Tinker time!!! I would like to see if it’s possible to remove the cage and replace with a 5 drive. Power Requirements: I don’t have a Kill A Watt Meter on purpose as the thought of what my media room components draw frightens me. I consider this another part of the room and another thing to feed my obsessive compulsive behavior.
  6. Your correct Rajahal. I did not realize the angle was an issue. I was able to place the rear drive as Neil did but I didn't realize till he posted the picture that the front drive could sit forward like that. I was going to order a card to support drive 7. I was going to order a card from Monoprice. I don't think the heat will be much of an issue for two 3.5s on the top but 4 might be much. My current drives are all 5400 and 5900. Only 7200 is the 2.5 500g black.
  7. I was looking for a 4 bay raid device when I came across Unraid and your build. This post inspired me and 4 weeks ago I went and bought the same Microserver. I basically duplicated the entire build with 8tb of storage and a 500 WD black drive for cache. Bios has been hacked and everything runs well. Before putting in the drive tray in the spare bay I was playing with drive layouts and was able to place 2 3.5 drives sideways on a diagonal with the interface up so it can be cabled. Only reason I was messing around was because the license allows for one more drive. Did you give any thought to a 7th drive or did the power supply concern you? I was thinking of modifying the top left inner cage so i could lay the drives flat.
  8. Thanks for the reply Joe. After reading through the posts I removed one device at a time from the network and found it was coming from my Dune Smart H1 Media Streamer. Not sure why now since while running 4.7 i didn't see any of these entries. The unRaid Menu option is still an issue. I can reach Mymain via the name or IP specifying port 8080 in the browser window. I can reach unRaid main by name and IP only when I don't specify the name. I can't get to unRaid from Mymain. I extremely green to Linux so I'm not getting anywhere. I've tried IE and Chrome, cleared the cache, rebooted the computer, rebooted server, stopped and restarted unMenu. Anyone have any ideas?
  9. So I decided lets upgrade to 5.06a from 4.7 and I followed the directions I found and things went pretty seamless. I have no issues with the MBR and everything else looked good. After starting the array and fixing the permissions and users I went to the myMain to look at my drives and came across the following in the syslog. In addition which might be related or not I can not go back into the unRaid Main without closing the browser windows and going in under the ip address. the link returns webpage not found once i'm in unMenu. 10. Thanks for the suggestion. I reviewed what you had mentioned and I believe I made a mistake. I guess I got used to seeing the * for temp when the drive is idle. For some reason the WD20 continues to provide temp reading when it's spun down unlike the other drives. Basically i treated them as one in the same and they are not. Live and learn. Thanks again.
  11. Hello Everyone! I just stood up a new unraid 4.7 server about 2 weeks ago and I'm very impressed with its rather ease of setup and the amount of information not only from Lime tech but the entire community provides. My server has a bunch of different drives in it and what I've noticed is the single WD20ears that I have never seems to spin down yet all the other disks do.. I tried a few different search topics but didn't find anything. HP Microserver 4 gb ram Parity Hitachi 2tb Storage Hitachi 2tb, WD20EARS 2tb, Samsung 2tb (firmware has been upgraded) Cache Seagate 250gb
