I am using the X10SRA-F running into the same issue, in order to get rid of critical bug in BMC I must update but then onboard VGA no longer works in UNRAID. Given the popularity of the ASPEED 2400 in the previous Supermicro boards I think it would be nice to include the updated driver

I got the redfish version for my x10 from SuperMicro tech support. I would recommend contacting them to find out if one is available for the x9.
As far as updating goes, I bought an Out of Band license for that. Pretty sure this isn’t available for x9. Only x10 and x11. I’m sure that tech support can furnish some instructions for that though if there is an update available.
Is what you got s.th newer than REDFISH_X10_386_20191115_unsigned.zip ? Just downloaded that one and was about to update my BMC...

VMs and Docker usage is great and smooth setting these up
Would be nice to see 2FA , Yubikey integration for GUI log in and the array encryption

i had one pcie usb controller passed into the VM
i found the issue,
i had to change the bios setting to performance.
now it is working great!
thank
its odd that this was the reason, your cpu should be good enough to watch youtube flawlessly, I wonder....

Sounds serious, but would only affect users who still keep actual data inside docker containers and need to manually copy them out.
is data on inside docker mounted array paths in danger ?

I ´d use a simple script like that for exactly your example.

unraid takes care of the split levels and follows the rules you set.
as long as you move between shares. never move between disk(s) and shares. it may break things.
there is no best way. Kruzer docker, mc via CLI, root share, or copy with vm as intermediary are popular ways...

when i open cli from within the unraid gui mc is very laggy. for you guys too ?
using putty is lag free.
using a lag free cli with one click from the unraid gui with mc + screen would do it for me.
then again thats not an explorer like mouse-able experience many here probably like to have

def ´d come handy , so far i make a note in the share description but to have unraid display it ... sweet +1

+1 would be nice to have this + all permissions overview via the GUI

Are you using Q35 or i440fx?
The issue here is that the NVIDIA driver is behaving differently if the bus reported is anything less than x8. Also, Latency on the VM as a whole is greatly improved when using Q35 with the patches. Its a long read, but you can see the evolution of these changes on the level1tech forum i linked in the original post.
I am using i440fx-2.7 without any patch. still puzzling. Somebody here that can use the CLI tool and show their results of a working-as-supposed-to pcie 3.0 x 16 GPU ?
-
I am confused
PCI 3.0 x16 should gibe about 15,500 Mbyte/s
did run the linked tool in my Win10 VM guest and it shows me the following speed
its off by some degree, but probably ok since its a VM guest and VT-d ?
GPU-Z in Win10 reports PCIe 3.0 x16 and when I use the built in test it switches to x1 when I pause and back to x16 when I continue
in NVIDIA Systeminfo it says
does that mean passthrough works as it should GPU on PCIe 3.0 x16 ?! 😕

just looking at this card myself b´cause of the 4 usb controllers. any word here if the HW is working flawless in unraid nowadays?
-
considering this a buy too. I guess as long as your mainboard support PCIe bifurcation (check your bios) it will work and split the lanes up.
on top of that individual iommu groups would be great. tell me more about it ! not many reports out there....btw anybody with supermicro 2xnvme >pcie adapter experience here ?
-
here too. constantly seeing approx ~25-35% load on each of the 4 assigned vcores that power my win10 1803 vm. cpu is a e5-1650v3; cpu governor set on 'power save'

my few cents; I have used a 750 EVO but the NAND is not durable. Currently I use a CRUCIAL MX500 1TB and it seems excellent price/performance ratio wise (paid ~260 USD). it tends to overheat (probably my bad -airflow since its stuck on the backside of the board against a tower wall) It also feels a bit slower than a Samsung Pro. I´d stick with Samsungs PRO line either SATA or if you need the speed NVMe via PCIe. The PRO line has a higher TBW spec but costs a bit more than the EVO. About size - totally up to you - I had the 750 EVO with 500 and it got too small quickly with all the VMs on it.

+1 count me in. built-in filemanager would be awesome

I thought gridrunner answered a similar problem back a few pages. To me, it sounds like clover was not installed properly on the USB flash drive you used to create the img file. If clover is loading, the img file is working, but if clover is not finding the disk it is loading from, it sounds like there was a problem during the creation of the disk or installation of clover.
I'm also assuming this is before you even get to the installation of OSX? i don't recall you specifying that.
I have a similar issue.
I made a macOS usb install media (with a macOS 10.13.3 High Sierra and latest BDU utility) on my windows vm.
efi partition and hfs partition seem to be there on the usb stick. I then made the img.
via the terminal command and set up the vm in unraid as per the instructions + xml copy and paste.
I can boot the vm into clover but there is no option to install macOS. Seems it cant find the second non-efi partition.
the most left option in the clover menu is uefi shell; when I go in the uefi shell I can see fs1 is the efi partition with efi/clover and on it and fs1 is the macos partition. when i go in fs1: efi/clover/cloverx64.efi is there and i can boot in that to arrive back in the clover menu.
so that is that
after i initially made the usb install media i copied kexts (from gridrunners support files dated 24-09-2017 (to /EFI/CLOVER/kexts)
and his config.plist 19-09-2017 (to /EFI/CLOVER) as well as the two drivers (to /EFI/CLOVER/drivers64UEFI).
Also copied the q35...aml file (to /EFI/CLOVER/ACPI/origin).
Besides wondering what the issue is I also ask myself:
-is creating the install media with BDU utility in a windows vm a problem (uefi/efi mode ?)
-do gridrunners files (kext and config.plist) need to be updated to fit the my highsierra release ?
has anybody made the usb install media on windows ?
any help is most appreciated
thanks

me too. missing the cute transfer window. how to get it back ?
btw, multiply transfers each in separate windows would be nice too...

I am getting an error on the system temperature plugin and it is not installing on boot up.

I can re-install it just fine.
EDIT: On rc8q.
I have a similar issue. After reboots the plugin does not start up. Must re-install it to make it show up again. Somehow it does not ´stick´ ??

Which would indicate you have not read the thread since I have already made clear that performance is not great, and your comment seems to assume I'm suggesting the performance is near native.
Just interpreted wrong what you meant to say. My bad.

I kinda feel like this has been answered in this thread many times already.
Our feelings may deceive us here.
I dare to admit that I do doubt that anybody here has decent, intel typical, nearly bare metal vm performance with hardware passthrough (especially when the performance metric includes GPU and CPU) on their ryzen build.
