As a newbie I dont know how to check for any power/reset errors. I dont have a new PSU yet. Should I try different power cables? Will that screw up identification of disks in the corrrect location or is that attributes to the sata cables?
What generally causes disks to go misssing?
Thanks for the help to all.

Did anyone ever get back to you with any links or recommendations? I'm in the same boat, but havent added any drives.
-
Tried new cables.

Bootom left corner says: Array Stopped stale configuration

IT GETS WORSE! Tried to rebuild parity. Array stoppped, I am now missing Disk 1 and disk 3, same hard drives just different serial numbers, but just shows no device and no device in the drop down for each harddrive!
-
Start with parity disabled, then enable and restart?
-
The power isnt all on one wire. Do you think I need to purchase a modular PSU?
-
thanks, i'll take a look.

My cables came from amazon, CableCreation [2 Pack] Mini SAS 36Pin (SFF-8087) Male to 4 SATA 7Pin Female Cable, Mini SAS Host/Controller to 4 SATA Target/Backplane, (B07CKX62L6)
my Power connectors came from there as well, StarTech 15.7-Inch (400mm) SATA Power Splitter Adapter Cable - M/F - 4x Serial ATA Power Cable Splitter
(B0086OGN9E)
are either of these known to cause problems?
-
I checked them they looked ok, sff 8087 from card, so i dont have another, unless you mean the other cables? Everything was tight and not loose.
-
Any other suggestions? My parity drive is still disabled.

my parity disk has a red x, it used to be unassigned but now just red X. Previously disk 4 showed errors, now doesnt. I ran read error test overnight and now disk 7 htower45tb-diagnostics-20210903-0808.zipas a million and half errors and still counting. HELP! I'm clueless as to what to do. I have attached the diagnostic file

Could any of you techno wizards make the script an app or docker add in for idiots like me that just know how to use the the web GUI?
Please?
Thanks!

Is it possible that one of the disks involved in the operation is not quite healthy ?
Slowing down that much feels to me like some disks is having i/o issues.
In the unbalance UI, I added the link to a plugin by a fellow forum member that looks at the health of a disk.
Can you check that ?
Can you provide the name or a link to the app concerning disk health? Thanks

Deleted mystery share labeled ?, everything seems to work now. Yeah!
-
If I uses dolphin, under network, there aren't any folders or shares showing in network or samba.
Could my network controller be bad?
-
There is a mystery share labeled ? do u think that is the problem? I cant access it thru gui

Was able to correct the separated cache drives by logging in with safe mode. However in safe mode the Starting Services was still constantly running in GUI at bottom of screen.
Anyone know what this error is?
emhttpd: error: put_config_idx, 613: Invalid argument (22): fopen: /boot/config/shares/?.cfg
Thanks!

Unable to shut down array, Starting Services constantly running in GUI at bottom of screen. My server flashes on and out of the network on my window machines. It also seems that one of my two ssd cache drives is not listed as a cache.
emhttpd: error: put_config_idx, 613: Invalid argument (22): fopen: /boot/config/shares/?.cfg
PLEASE HELP!

I found this on Reddit, Will I destroy any chance of recovery doing the following:
Go to Tools -> New Config. Then add the drives back into the array.
It will clear the old config and allow you to create a new array. Any data on missing disk(s) will be gone, but it will keep whatever is on the current disks.
So I would lose the missing disk data? Not a good solution, IMO
