  1. Has somebody connected successfully an iPhone to OSX? It is in a loop connecting and disconnecting every time and I cannot see the device inside the MacOS. According to some external forums, it is easy to solve in VMWare with a configuration option in the VMX file: I don't know how to make it with unRaid. Maybe I have to pass the entire USB controller. 3. From UnRaid 6.5.3 (I don't remember the exact version) I have a poor performance on every virtual machine. I thought it was a problem with the GPU or something like that but after investigating the problem, I have detected a poor CPU performance. It doesn't matter if I have one or two VM, the performance is always very bad. For example: When I am writting in the search bar of chrome, the system freezes some seconds (2-3) and it comes back again. With the games is the same, sometimes the system freezes. It doesn't matter the SO or the task. I am writting in Linux and the system freezes, I am in Windows playing, and the system freezes... I have tried changing the configurations, recomendations, disks (trying SATA vs SCSI) etc. With no results. I have tried Tips and Tweak Plugin, isolating CPU etc. With no results. Please, I appreciate so much any help. Thank you very much. casa-diagnostics-20190205-1642.zip Some topics I have read:
  4. Oh great!! It is working now. The problem is just with the Windows VM machines? Could I make all disks in scsi or just with SSD? Thank you very much johnie!!

  6. Thank you for your answer johnnie. But I just have two vdisks in the cache. One with 105GB and another with 240GB. They are the size shown in the OS of the VMs. Also have some config files of Dockers. Really so much space is lost? When I created the cache the space was correct but each day is lower. I have configured them in RAID0. Maybe the btrfs is not the correct to my case? Kind regards.
  7. Hello, My problem is each day the cache free space is lower although I remove data from the VMs. I have used the balance, scrub, etc but my problem is still there. In the past, I had this problem as well and I solved it moving the data to the array and recreating the cache disks but it is tedious to make always. Here the info about the space using df, btrfs df and btrfs usage: root@Casa:/mnt/cache# df -h | grep sdc1 /dev/sdc1 466G 462G 2.3G 100% /mnt/cache root@Casa:/mnt/cache# btrfs filesystem df /mnt/cache Data, RAID0: total=461.71GiB, used=459.44GiB System, RAID1: total=32.00MiB, used=48.00KiB Metadata, RAID1: total=2.00GiB, used=659.02MiB GlobalReserve, single: total=512.00MiB, used=0.00B root@Casa:/mnt/cache# btrfs filesystem usage -h /mnt/cache Overall: Device size: 465.77GiB Device allocated: 465.77GiB Device unallocated: 2.05MiB Device missing: 0.00B Used: 460.73GiB Free (estimated): 2.26GiB (min: 2.26GiB) Data ratio: 1.00 Metadata ratio: 2.00 Global reserve: 512.00MiB (used: 0.00B) Data,RAID0: Size:461.71GiB, Used:459.44GiB /dev/sdc1 230.85GiB /dev/sdd1 230.85GiB Metadata,RAID1: Size:2.00GiB, Used:659.03MiB /dev/sdc1 2.00GiB /dev/sdd1 2.00GiB System,RAID1: Size:32.00MiB, Used:48.00KiB /dev/sdc1 32.00MiB /dev/sdd1 32.00MiB Unallocated: /dev/sdc1 1.02MiB /dev/sdd1 1.02MiB They are the values shown but if I use DU and btrfs du it is shown the correct size I have: root@Casa:/mnt/cache# btrfs filesystem du -s /mnt/cache Total Exclusive Set shared Filename 345.57GiB 344.02GiB 1.55GiB /mnt/cache root@Casa:/mnt/cache# du -sh 346G . I have tried the balance multiples times with dconvert=raid0 and mconvert=raid1 without results. Also I have checked others posts in the forum but the problem is still there. The most probably is I don't know something related with the btrfs system, I am a newbie. Does anybody know how I could solve it? Thank you very much. Attached my diagnostic. casa-diagnostics-20180727-1255.zip
  8. Then if do I just have disks in the array (for example HDDs), will a VM use the size only in one disk? I don't understand how the parity save the data because if I have two disks with differents sizes and differents data with a total of 8TB but the parity have 4TB... how is my data secured?? Again thank you very much. I understand it now better.
  9. Thank you again johnnie. But if I don't have a HDD for example and I want to put both SSD in the cache pool, would it be possible? I think when you try to start the array without disks in the array, it fails. Also if I put them in the array (I know is not supported oficially the SSDs in the array) the VMs save the data in DISK1 or DISK2 but it is not RAID0 so when the VM load the max size of the disk it will be busy and it will not use the second disk. Is it true?
  10. Thank you johnnie . Then using the cache pool in raid0 mode could I save my VM data inside them? I understood the cache is for improve the write speed and in the night the data is passed to a normal HDD so when I go the next day to load my VM, it will be load very slow because it will be reading from a HDD and not from SSD. I apologize for my knowledge about this topic, I try to understand it.
  11. I will use it for: 1) Developer work stuffs, working with IDE, databases, Big Data, and similar. 1) Home purpose like playing games, write documents, see videos, etc. Really I don't need the parity because my important documents are uploaded to cloud-services. Work or personal important information are in the cloud. I am not an expert on hardware but I need the best speed to work without to be waiting for operations, or something like that. I have a I7 7700K, 16GB RAM DDR4 3000 and two GPU GTX970. So I don't want to lose performance by reading from a HDD at 5200 RPM. Maybe a disk fails each 10 years? 5? I don't know but I think it is not important for me. Then, is it possible to configure the unRaid for my purpose? Do I need to put disks in the array always? I thought cache-pool is for writing but not reading. What do you think? Should I use the parity? or which is the mode I should configure my unRaid to get 1 disk RAID0 (2 SSD with 250GB each one) and another with 4TB (for saving data). Now putting all in the array mode it gets me 3 disks and non-perfomance of RAID0. Or maybe a good option would be put another HDD as parity and my 2 SSD in RAID0 as disks to get the best reading performance. I don't know. Thank you very much for the help! Kind regards.
  12. Hello, I would to know which is the best mode configuring my drives to get the best performance. My drives are: 2 SSD with 250 GB and 1 HDD 5200 RPM 4TB with 256MB cache. In a normal Linux system I would make a RAID-0 with ZFS of my SSDs to get 500GB and my second drive as a normal HDD. Which are the configuration options to make that in unRaid? Do you recommend me use the parity? Really I want to get the best performance, I think the possibles fails is not more important than performance in my case. Actually I have each drive in the array but then, the performance is not like a RAID-0 because each VM use differents disks to save data. Thank you very much for the help. Regards.
  13. I have solved the problem. The problem is not with the GPU Passthrough. Really is with the default driver of Ubuntu. To solve the problem I had to install the NVIDIA driver via VNC. So I am going to put step-by-step if it is helpfully: UPDATED: Really you just need to install nvidia-384 packet via apt-get. After you can reboot with the GPU attached and now it will be working. OLD: 1) First create the VM Ubuntu with the VNC as the main graphic device and your GPU as secondary. 2) Install Ubuntu via VNC. 3) Access to Ubuntu and download the NVIDIA drivers. 4) Before Install NVIDIA drivers, you need to disable the NOUVEAU driver which is causing the error. 4.1) For disable, create the file: sudo nano /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-nouveau.conf 4.2) Add the lines: blacklist nouveau options nouveau modeset=0 4.3) Install dkms and regenerate the kernel initramfs: sudo update-initramfs -u 4.4) Reboot. 5) Install NVIDIA drivers. 5.1) For install you need to be without X mode so access to another terminal with CTRL+ALT+F1. 5.2) Stop the lightdm service. 5.3) Enter to runlevel 3: sudo init 3 5.4) Install executing the NVIDIA installer. 5.5) Shutdown the VM. 6) Now you can remove the secondary GPU and put it as the main. All is working now :). Thanks to anybody. P.D: If you have demonic audio with NVIDIA AUDIO on Ubuntu enable MSI of intel: options snd-hda-intel enable_msi=1 Regards, Pedro.
