  1. Ok, so some buffering on a 720p file is expected and the best I can get on either then? I think the Apple TV just has less buffer size as it does not buffer streaming to another PC.
  2. I know...before even thinking it, yes, I know being on WIFI is the problem, but I am not getting the wired network done until around Christmas. For now though, I am using WIFI to stream media to Apple TV / XBMC. For the most part it works nice, aside from some buffering on 720p videos. Some videos buffer more than others, so I was thinking of using Powerline to solve this, and then eventually I could use it for other parts of the house that I am not going to wire later on. I'm lost though...using Powerline seems to be worse. *WIFI* Read: 8.2 MB/s Write: 4.75 MB/s *Powerline* Read: 7.5 MB/s Write: 7.7 MB/s Using Powerline on other machines other than unRAID, I am able to achieve around 12 MB/s. Any ideas of what might be happening?
  3. Ok. Finished doing a few tests and what I am finding is that if I update library in XBMC, it doesn't find the new files. If I go to file view, I can see them, but not play from there. If I SET CONTENT, and then choose Automatic Scan, it will scan and find the files and add them to the library. I'd prefer to be able to update the library automatically...or at least, just be able to choose update library within XBMC without having to set content and scan again. This happens on my PC XBMC version as well.
  4. Are all lines necessary, and would they need to be done to other shares as well? Movies, Music, etc
  5. I am using 4.7 as well. Tried adding what was in that post, but I still have problems. A show downloads, and I see the notification on XBMC. I check the library and nothing. I then try Update Library, and still nothing. If I go to the files view, I can see it and play the file. When I go back to the library mode, it's there.
  6. That's what I figured. FILE THAT WAS COPIED FROM WINDOWS (INCLUDED IN XBMC LIBRARY) root@Tower:~# ls -l "/mnt/user/TV Shows/True Blood/Season 04/True Blood - 4x02 - You Smell Like Dinner.avi" -rwx------ 1 root root 1041733244 Jun 27 20:40 /mnt/user/TV\ Shows/True\ Blood/Season\ 04/True\ Blood\ -\ 4x02\ -\ You\ Smell\ Like\ Dinner.avi* FILE WAS DOWNLOADED DIRECTLY ON SERVER USING SABNZBD (NOT INCLUDED XBMC LIBRARY) root@Tower:~# ls -l "/mnt/user/TV Shows/True Blood/Season 04/True Blood - 4x08 - Spellbound.mkv" -rw------- 1 root root 2190982146 Aug 19 13:39 /mnt/user/TV\ Shows/True\ Blood/Season\ 04/True\ Blood\ -\ 4x08\ -\ Spellbound.mkv Only difference I see is the permissions, but like you said, x would be executable, so not sure why that would impact it.
  7. I did one test so far. If I do not use the SickBeard Post Processing Script in SABnzbd, and just move over the files manually, they retain the rwx permissions. I am trying Couch Potato now to see if the same happens. Will take a bit before the download completes, so will update later.
  8. Still relatively new to unRAID, but have been using XBMC for a while, so the issues I am having seem related to unRAID. When I first set it up, I copied all of my media files over to unRAID from a windows OS. It all worked....XBMC picked up all of the user shares I had setup, and scraped them correctly. I noticed that any files that are downloaded via SABnzbd (Couch Potato) are not showing in the XBMC library. I tried a few things such as rebooting the client device, and still nothing. I then took a peak at the file browser in unMENU. I noticed that all the files I moved over from Windows, had a mode of "rwx", whereas the files that were downloaded directly onto the unRAID server via SABnzbd were "rw". So 2 things: 1. Could this be why these files are not being updated in the XBMC library? 2. If so, how can this be corrected? Thanks!
  9. Nevermind. I removed it all, and installed manually. Worked fine.
  10. If it means anything, I installed Sick Beard and Couch Potato and they do the same thing, so I would think whatever I am missing is something pretty simple. Ok, I got CP and SB working. I really don't know what I am doing, but it sounds like it's starting the process for each: In telnet, I typed: python /mnt/cache/.couchpotato/CouchPotato.py and python /mnt/cache/.sickbeard/SickBeard.py --daemon Why would this have to be done, and will I have to do this any time the server is re-started? Any idea how I can get SABnzbd working the same way? I tried a few things, but nothing so far.
  11. Yep, it's installed: 7838 root 20 0 176m 11m 2272 S 0 0.3 0:00.26 python Getting an unable to connect: http://tower:8081
  12. I hope this wasn't answered in this thread already, but I installed the SABnzbd package using unMENU. Everything seemed to install ok, but when I went to http://tower:8081, it says not available. Any ideas?
  13. That's it then. They are both 2 TB drives with only about 20% used.
  14. Just setting up unRAID for the first time and right now I am just messing around with the settings to better understand how it works. Right now I have just 2 data drives with no parity. I am testing out Split Level. So for TV Shows, I have High Water and Level set at 3. TV SHOWS ---- Dexter ----------Season 01 ---------------Episode.avi So I would at level 3, it would create TV SHOWS on both drives, and then also include DEXTER, and a SEASON on each drive if necessary. Episodes within each season would remain on a single drive. Am I missing something? I get nothing showing up on drive 2. Nothing at all....completely empty.
  15. I think I have read that in order to increase speed of transfer that you could not assign a parity drive until after all data transfer? Is that too risky?
  16. Thanks. I was more concerned with handling the data transfer and setting up user shares. For example should I create the shares first or once the data has been moved. I guess the only way to bring the data over is move data from 1 drive to the new cleared one and then bring that one over? Is that basically the only way?
  17. Just built my first unRAID server, and testing out the free edition right now. I have a 2TB empty hard drive that I just precleared, and now I am curious on what next steps I should do. I would like to use 2 of my other drives that currently have data on them, but I am not sure the best way to add those to the array. Any comments on what I should be doing next as far as bring the other drives over and setting up user shares?
  18. I'll admit I have not read through this entire thread, but I just started setting up my first unRAID server (waiting for my first preclear to finish) and I had a few questions on using VirtualBox in an unRAID environment. 1. I have used VirtualBox in a windows environment, so is there an interface to change settings and setup your Virtual Machine once VirtualBox is installed? 2. Currently, I do remote connect to my windows box, and then I am able to run any of my VMs. Is this possible in an unRAID environment? Thanks!
  19. Ok, I had to pull the plug. I went with a modified #1. Chose the 2100 instead of the 2100T. Came to $352.12 CAD with taxes and shipping. I hope it's sufficient for my needs.
  20. I am still debating on what parts I need for my requirements. I was thinking that I would like to run VMs for development environments, so an increase in CPU would be necessary. I am not sure exactly what would be enough, but not overkill. I have come up with 2 options. Would either of these work, and which one would be better? There is only about $10 difference in price, and only the CPU and Motherboard are different. #1 Motherboard: ASUS P8H67-M LX REV3.0 - http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131713 CPU: Intel Core i3 2100T - http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116394&Tpk=Intel%20Core%20i3%202100T PSU: CORSAIR BUILDER CX430 WATT POWER SUPPLY - http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139026&Tpk=CX430 Case: Azza Helios 910 Black ATX - http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811517007&Tpk=Azza%20Helios%20910 RAM: Kingston ValueRAM 4GB (2 x 2GB) KVR1333D3N9K2/4G - http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820134810 #2 Motherboard: ASUS P7H55-M PRO LGA - http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131623&Tpk=p7h55-m%20pro CPU: Intel Core i3-540 - http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115221 PSU: CORSAIR BUILDER CX430 WATT POWER SUPPLY - http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139026&Tpk=CX430 Case: Azza Helios 910 Black ATX - http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811517007&Tpk=Azza%20Helios%20910 RAM: Kingston ValueRAM 4GB (2 x 2GB) KVR1333D3N9K2/4G - http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820134810 I haven't built a computer from scratch before, so would there be anything else I need? Extra fans, cpu cooler, etc? Thanks!
  21. Ok, I got a quote from a local store that ends up saving me a little on shipping. I am just wondering if this is enough to do what I want it to do. Basically I want to use it as a media server where all videos, music and photos are kept place. I would also like to use it as the dedicated box for downloads using SABnzbd, SickBeard, Couch Potato, etc. Would the following be enough? CPU: AMD Sempron 140 Processor ($37) Motherboard: ASUS M4A785T-M ($81) Case: COOLERMASTER 692 ADV MID CASE BLK NO PSU ($84) RAM: Kingston KVR1333D3E9SK2/2G ($29) PSU: CORSAIR BUILDER CX430 WATT POWER SUPPLY ($45) Parity Drive: WD20EARS ($0 from old system) Data Drives: WD10EARS and WD20EARS ($0 from old system) I'll add more drives as I do, but I am worried the CPU is not enough to handle SABnzbd, etc.
  22. Thanks for the help. I ended up finding the Power Supply you mentioned. I also changed the RAM and Case. PSU: http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?item_id=032795 RAM: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820139050 Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119216 I feel like I am missing something...I guess I'll find out when I start it.
  23. Sorry. You couldn't find it because it was a typo. Should have read Thermaltake TR2 430W http://www.ncix.com/products/?sku=36933&vpn=W0070RUC&manufacture=Thermaltake Would I need a CPU cooling fan? I just noticed it was not on my list.
  24. Read about this for some time and was really in need of a media server and though unRaid would be worth a shot. I am finding it difficult to find specific parts, especially the motherboard, but this is what I have come up with. I am hoping someone could verify if it would work well, for an unRaid I do not see more than 8-10 drives if that. CPU: AMD Sempron 140 Processor ($33.58 PM from NXIC) Motherboard: ASUS M4A785T-M ($80.00 PM from NXIC) Case: Thermaltake V5 ($69.12 PM from NXIC) RAM: Kingston KVR800D2N6 ($23.80 PM from NXIC) Flash Drive: Kingston DataTraveler 101 G3 4GB ($6.35 PM from NXIC) PSU: Thermaltake DR 430W ($0 - had an unused at home) Parity Drive: WD20EARS ($0 from old system) Data Drives: WD10EARS and WD20EARS ($0 from old system) Questions: 1. Am I missing any parts? 2. Will the Thermaltake PSU be enough? 3. Will all Green drives cause issues or any concerns? Thanks in advance!
