  2. Its plugged into a (USB2.0) 9 pin adapter on the MB.
  3. Logging into the web gui on the server ( couldnt login remotely ) It had forgotten I had cache drives, but remembered the data/parity layout, and reversed my ethernet ports, and forgotten the server name/description. VM's, Dockers and Apps all still in place...
  4. Last 2 nights system has crashed, This morning it reboots to Tower again. This is making me crazy.
  5. And once the parity is done i need to update my key file
  6. Thanks for the help everyone, now to let the Parity run for the next 14 hours
  7. No Joy, still giving me a array stopped invalid configuration
  8. I assigned them all as data, to see which drive was unformated, then set it to no device and tried to move it to parity.
  9. sdd is the parity device ive set it to no device in the array devices, then set it in parity. though now it says invalid array and wont let me start it.
  10. New Samsung 32gb Flash drive, 6.6.5 stable installed. added back the cache drives, added all my HDD as data, how do i determine which are formatted and which aren't after adding them?
  11. Thanks Frank, I've been using the Micro center drive just to test the USB connections, and all of the ports seem to work flawlessly with the microcenter drive where the original Lexar drive would no longer boot reliably, and im guessing it was damaged when the MB bit the dust, I have a Samsung drive(32gb) arriving tomorrow( $10 amazon, gotta love prime ) that I will do the new 'permanent' Install on. Good to know it uses the serial numbers for drive assignment. I have 3x8TB data drives, 1x8TB parity, and 2x500GB cache drives(mirrored?)
  12. The motherboard was replaced also, so I am not sure of the drive assignments as an exact replacement for the board wasn't possible, so I'm unsure if the drive assignments will help unless it uses the Drives serial number or something for the setup. Thanks!
  13. i reformatted a microcenter 32gb flash drive and installed a trial key of unraid on it, and it boots fine on the 4 usb ports i tried it on. Leading me to believe my previous USB drive was faulty, is there some kind of stress test I can do to verify. And since it seems I'll be replacing the USBkey, is unraid smart enough to know which drives where used for parity when i set it up, or is there some way for me to make sure i dont destroy all my data when starting up the new unraid usb key? I have a 32gb samsung USB drive coming tomorrow to do the permanent install on along with the 9pin to USB adapter to move the drive to the interior of the system.
  14. BIOS update didn't seem to have any effect, ordered adapter and a couple new 32gb thumb drives, guess we continue this thursday =/
  15. ok ill try a test install with a new flash drive if the BIOS update doesnt work. Thanks for the replies I'll keep you all updated.
  16. Will reinstalling from scratch help? what would I loose? will I have to buy another key?
  17. Ordered one similar that will arrive Tuesday.
  18. Fustrating, rebooted the server to see if it was going to work again, and its back to calling itself Tower, and not allowing dashboard access even from localhost.
  19. Ok im not sure what changed but the system just booted up with the right server name, and I can access the dashboard again and copied the diagnostics to my windows machine. ava-diagnostics-20181111-0628.zip
  20. yes i am shutting down moving the stick and restarting.
  21. this is what I'm seeing, I tried the 4 front panel USB's ( 2 2.0, 2 3.0 ) and the 4 rear ones and each time the file is not on the thumbdrive when i move it back to the windows PC to open the zip and post it here. can i just stick in another USB drive and cp the file there? Thanks for everyones help, I am a linux/unraid novice(obviously).
