  1. Hey everybody, I feel like a newbie, but I just can't get it to work. The Task: I have my old Homeserver running on MacOS with Plex. I want to migrate my Database (especially my viewstate) to my new unRAID Server. I have copied over all Media-Files. So far so good. The Problem: I am trying to follow the steps from this link which is commonly refered to in this forum: https://support.plex.tv/articles/201370363-move-an-install-to-another-system/ I tried everything. I tried copying all folders, I tried copying all folders except the Plug-Ins, I tried copying only folders where the content made sense to me to migrate. I tried changing chmod to 777.... I tried to migrate to binhex-plexpass docker, I tried to migrate to linuxservers docker. It all comes up with the same result. After I copy the files from the old server to the new one the Plex Server won't start. Both behave the same. The Log File says "Starting Plex Server" and then tries this over and over again. I am really desperate. I would say f*** it and just add my media, but I have like 4-5 Friends watching and I don't want them to lose all their viewstates. I will buy the guy a beer that helps me fix this Thx. Acid
  2. I solved this by setting a password in the secure.oho and going to the /admin/index.php and setting it up without a wizard. I still don't know, why I can't click on next, but hey. It is solved
  3. I have a weard problem with this docker. I am building a new unRaid Machine. So I installed this docker yesterday and cofigured it through the wizard. Then I realized that I had messed up some array configuration and deleted my docker-image and reinstalled the docker. Now the admin-page starts with the wizard again (which would not be a problem) but when I try to click on "next" to start the configration the cursor turns into a "no entry"-Symbol and I can't click on next. I tried to delete the docker and also delete the appdata Folder for NowShowing2 but even after that I get that same issue. Can you help?
  4. Thanks for your replies. Can anyone tell me if an encrypted harddrive can still be decrypted on another non unRaid Machine? With the right key of course?
  5. Hello everybody, I am building a new server and the disks are preclearing at the moment. So I was wondering how to format them after that. Should I use xfs or xfs encrypted? I could not find any pro/con lists about that. Obviously the xfs ecrypted is... well encrypted. But does it have any cons? Is the array slower when it is encrypted? Can the hardrives still be read on any other linux-machine in case of a failure (of course when the other linux machine has some kind of key?!) Thanks for your help Acid
  6. Oh I didn't think about it that I could go both ways. I that case I will mount the samba shares of the new unraid Server on my Mac. Because I have a neat little tool called chronosync, that transfers the data and then also checks if everything was transfered correctly.
  7. Ok, so parity and turbo write it is. How about the tool. Midnight Commander? Some sync Tool? Krusader seems to gui to be safe. But maybe that is a wrong prejudice? and how do i See that everything really is there in the end? thank you already so much for your advice. Acid
  8. Hey there, I'm new here and am planning on setting up a new unRAID Server. At the moment I run MacOS Server and with the new server coming in next week I want to migrate all my Data (ruffly 10TB). Now I know the easiest way would be to put the old harddrives in the new server with the unmanaged devices plugin. But I have two reasons why I can't do that. 1. Downtime - I want the old server to stay up and running until the new one is completely done. 2. The Mac runs a software-raid "SoftRAID" - so I guess the harddrives would not be running without that anyway, I assume? So now I need some advice from you pros. What is the best way to migrate the Data? Put both servers on the same 1Gbit Switch and use smb shares? Directly connect them through their second LAN-Port with no switch attached? Is smb the way to go or afp? What tool do I use? I'm not much of a command-line guy. I can work with midnight commander pretty good. Or is there a better tool? Is there a way to validate that all files came over safe and sound? Oh and do I setup a parity drive in unRAID before or after migration? Thank you for any advice. Acid
