  2. My Servers approach. Although my main goal at the moment is to make my webGUI accessible again!
  3. Hi, so recently I’ve learnt that OpenVPN is no longer available as a docker, which I used to connect to my server from anywhere in the world. last night I was trying to set up unraids own server manager, I think some ports have been setup wrong and when I restarted my server the web ui was no longer accessible from my old IP. server still completely functional, can connect through ssh. I go away next month, what is my best solution to connecting to my home network while I’m away?
  4. I don’t… on the note of bad connections, I did replace my Sata cables with other ones just in case. im not sure the cabling setup I have is quite the recommended one! Pictures attached. when I first built this server I bought a LSI card, I don’t have any experience with these and hadn’t really a clue how to use it, but I couldn’t fathom it and left it. Would this improve my system reliability? also attached a picture of LSI card and cabling I bought. thanks.
  5. Over the last 3 months I've had Drive 2 fail numerous times, leading in corrupted files, which i had to fix using xfs repair. Around a week ago, this drive turned into "Contents Emulated, Drive Disabled." I wasn't 100% sure what this meant but assumed the drive had given up. I had a spare drive, so replaced and rebuilt the array, without a issue and is all running OK again now. In the mean time, I added the "faulty" drive back into the array, and did a preclear, assuming if anything was wrong, it would show up. But.... It was all clear, and smart test was "Passed" I have started a memtest this evening, it has been going for 3:45 Hours and has had no issues. Could it still be a drive error even though nothing is showing up indicating that? Is there anything else I should check or test to prevent this happening in future, assuming it isn't this drive? Appreciate any help. Attached: Preclear results.
  6. Sorry I got myself confused. I was wanting to get into boot location as that is where my logs get stored from my user script, is it possible to make it accessible? I’m sure I’ve been able to access it before.
  7. I am trying to access my boot drive to remove the docker image file, to reinstall docker settings. I am wondering the best way of changing the permissions to allow me to access the boot folder. I tried chown but it throws the error of Operation not permitted.
  8. So, the last few weeks I've been having trouble with 1 drive specifically, often showing up as unmounted, requiring me to xfs repair to allow it to be mountable again, earlier this week it decided it was its end, and this solution no longer fixed my issue. I ordered a new drive, pre cleared it, and put it in today to begin a rebuild of the drive, i ran a comparison from my backup server to the main server, and was missing about 400gb worth of data, is this normal after a parity sync? or will this be related to previous xfs repairs...? I'm looking to resolve this so i don't have to go through this again, but as it is around 1 week down the line, am unable to provide many diagnostics for it as I didn't take them at the time, so understand help is limited!... As a countereffect. Some dockers are un-launchable. I assume this will be down to lost files causing them to not run, what is the best cause of action in this case for those apps? Thanks.vault-diagnostics-20220101-2343.zip
  9. Yeah when I clicked your link to the APC site, it said $180 odd. i usually trust Amazon to reflect a pretty decent price, I don’t often look much further.
  10. think this looks ok for my purpose. Might just bite the bullet on this? £334 not sure how that value goes in the scheme of things. Thanks again everyone. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0041MP81Y/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fabc_HNH0FVBGAK9YZ8BRGT1K
  11. Sounds good to me. Thanks for the help.
  12. I heard that there were UPS that would communicate with Unraid servers, to be able to shut the array down before the UPS ran out of power, which sounded like a great extra. I'm not sure how i can tell if a UPS is compatible with this feature on unraid. Im looking for a UPS to supply my main unraid server, and my backup if it happens to be running at the time of power loss. I have calculated my Main Server to draw approximately 268W, i have used Outer vision PSU Calculator for this, it also mentioned for a 600 VA UPS. And my server draw approximately 180W, with a recommended of 400VA. Obviously, it cannot be known if the power outage would occur when the backup server is running, so it's best to cover all basis. The server is turned on over IPMI to do the backup, then switched off again... In a ideal world, and I'm not sure if this is possible, it would be convenient for my router to be on the UPS, and if the power is out for a hour or so, it would be able to remain functional... Any advice greatly appreciated.
  13. Believe it or not, im back... Again! So i updated my server to 6.9.0-rc2 today to configure hw. Logged onto files just later on and it seems they are not working at all, originally i could not get on my file explorer on pc, but then tried krusader, and it couldn't access the /mnt file, i changed chmod on the /mnt to 755 and it worked on krusader and not on windows. There is definitely a samba error in the diagnostics, I've done a little search but couldn't come to a resolution vault-diagnostics-20210209-2208.zip
  14. When i try to start plex after installing the NVidia drivers etc, i get this error, any ideas?? Thanks
  15. Hi, So I have my Unraid server currently using the built in motherboard NIC for all connections, I have added a 10gb NIC to my server today, and would like to connect to my main PC via its 2.5gb Built in NIC. I currently only have 1 Port on my PC, is there a way i can connect to the unraid 10gb, relay internet through the server? if i can/cant, how do i go about configurating both NIC's to talk to each other when connected to each other, I've tried a few things this evening and cant seem to get any response. Thanks.
  16. Ah yes, That explains it. I knew there was a figure on there that, its not crucial if it has errors or not, just that it doesn't increase. Thanks for the knowledge. P.S. I updated my Signature!!
  17. Ok, So basically, any errors on any drive, is basically a no no. I suppose the risk to cost ratio, it is cheaper, and easier just to replace the drive. I had a look on Seagate's website, looked up the S/N and it seems it is covered under warranty until November this year, so might see if they'll cover this one!
  18. Hi, I have a Seagate Iron Wolf 2TB NAS Drive, which i have had since December 2018. I don't think it has been abused as such. These are the attributes, obviously they aren't squeaky clean, but how risky is it to run this drive in my server? It seems a shame to throw away a drive!!
  19. Removing the card fixed the problem, drives showed up in bios when starting up, just didn’t stay connected. All parts in relation to the lsi card were brand new. its beyond me.
  20. Ahh right!! I should really look into the server equipment route. I recently made a new server for my Main Unraid, and it was a bit of a silly build now i come to think about it. AMD Ryzen 5 2600 Processor Rog Strix B450-F Gaming Motherboard Silverstone CS380 Case (Lovely!! ) Really wish i took more time to research as i really don't think AMD was the right choice.
  21. To be frank, and I know it sounds bad. I don't really know what is required, I looked at requirements and found one that fit the motherboard requirement and flipped the coin. Wanting to get a server up and running asap incase anything goes south again with my main. Last couple of days working on this non stop, and I'm finally able to start adding data back to it. I don't mind having a little headroom on the processor, I really wouldn't know what the processor I got could run. I looked again at my options, and below was a ECC version for around £25 more. Again, opens the doors for future, it cant harm anything!! Is Xeon more powerful then a i5 then?
  22. Don't Really have any knowledge about RAM, but for my purpose I assume it wont make much of a difference? Thanks again.
  23. Apologies, I updated the thread. This one is 2400: https://www.memorycow.co.uk/16gb-ddr4-2400mhz-non-ecc-memory-ram-dimm I've actually already purchased the Motherboard, E3C236D2I and Processor E3-1220 V5. But like you say, should the motherboard be able to deal with it to reduce it to 2133
  24. Thanks for the info. Ive had a look on a website and found this supports it: https://www.memorycow.co.uk/16gb-ddr4-2400mhz-non-ecc-memory-ram-dimm Not sure about the difference between ECC and Non ECC but this should be fine? Cheers.
  25. Is ECC the same as Registered ECC? It doesn't specify on the motherboard specs that it supports Registered or Unregistered anything if that is relevant.
