  1. My new N40L shipped with BIOS 041 Installed dated 7/25/11. In the Bios, version 041 IDE Configuration --SATA Controller Mode --IDE --RAID --AHCI AHCI is enabled as standard There is also settings for Sata Link Rate, default is AUTO. Also 1.5Gps Max, and 3.5Gps Max Drive write Cache is off as standard. So by the looks of it, AHCI is enabled for all connected SATA devices. Is this right? Is there no need to update BIOS for the SATA connection in the optical bay to get full speed? Can anyone confirm if this new BIOS remedies the need to flash the BIOS to get full speed on a fifth drive.
  2. A link just for reference: http://www.tenniswood.co.uk/technology/windows-home-server/comparing-the-old-and-new-hp-microserver-1-3ghz-vs-1-5ghz-editions/
  3. Raj, Thanks for that bit of info. Good eye, that is why I asked here. The other specs look great though for $299. I want to run UnRAID though. So today I went with the HP ProLiant N40L deal today.
  4. MOVE ON, DEAL IS DEAD NOW Newegg is offering the HP server again. The ShellShocker deal. Live as of 1pm PST.
  5. Its been on the websites with the i3-540 in the past few weeks for $299, but currently has gone about $30 higher. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6939649&srkey=F70-1002110
  6. Thanks for that info. So the Nine Hundred can only hold 11. Good to know.
  7. Raj, Do you prefer this over the Xigmatek Utgard Mesh CPC-T90DB-U03 Black Steel you suggest in your builds here?
  8. Thought I'd ask the more experienced here if they could look over the specs on this Prebuilt Fujitsu server and see anything that might flag a problem with this unit being an UnRAID server. https://globalsp.ts.fujitsu.com/dmsp/docs/ds-py-tx100-s2.pdf
  9. Regarding the ZOTAC GF6100-E-E AM3 board recommended in the small sever builds here. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813500045 Can you build this MB into a good small always-on UnRAID server that can also handle processing Sab/Sickbeard? Would a more powerful CPU and more DRAM be in order than what is recommended? If so, what CPU is powerful but also not super power hungry and runs cool. I'm not very knowledgable about AMD CPUs. Thanks.
  10. I'm going down the path of building a system comparable to yours and what Raj's recommends. I bought the MB and PSU because they are currently heavily discounted at Newegg. Something I saw after previous poster chip mentioned the current prices above. But now I'd also like to find good deals on the CPU and RAM and the other components. I know HDD are not going to be real deal these days and I already have a couple to get me up and running. But what about the other parts I need. I'm going to use a temp case that I have for the time being. But I need a CPU, DRAM, SATA card (eventually), etc. Any recommendations? Are there any good deals out there right now on these additional parts that anyone knows of?
  11. The ZOTAC GF6100-E-E AM3 is 14.99 after rebate: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813500045 and the CORSAIR Builder Series CX430 V2 is $16.99 after rebate: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139026 Both of these are suggested in Raj's small server builds here: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=7998.msg113242#msg113242
  12. Got it, Thanks. I thought I read you got a 200w PSU. Edit: Dang, during my searching as to if this would be a good match for what I wanted it went Out Of Stock
  13. neilt0, I'm interested in the Black Friday Newegg deal on the N40L. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16859107052&Tpk=N82E16859107052 But it only has a 150w PSU. What do you think the limitations of that would be? EDIT: regarding your post below. I misread your thread here, thinking your unit came with a 200 Watt PSU
  14. neilt0, You have a version of this HP mini server. But yours has a 200w PSU. Do you think that this one having a 150w PSU (This is what I read in a post anyway) is a problem for an UnRAID box like you built doing just what your doing Sab/Sickbeard and then streaming that contect to an HTPC?
  15. Thanks. But this is a Newer version of this HP right? This version is not coming up in any posts that I can find. Could it be assumed that this might also work? I could sell the OS and have a box, minus drives for $200 to get me started. I mainly just want to stream video to an htpc.
