  1. Apologies for the dumb question, but how do I do a correcting parity check?
  2. How do I go about correcting the (5) errors from the parity check? The only errors I can access are from the plugin, common errors, and it pertains to my marvel controller, which says their are issues with disconnecting hard drives, yet only my parities are disconnecting. I don't know how to see the errors from the past parity check. I'm pretty confident that my controller is the problem, even though its just the parities that are having trouble connecting. It seems weird all my hard drives are working fine, except the two parities and that they failed right after the parity check. My server is also in a fixed location, so I don't think it was the wire connections I have re-arranged my cables multiple times and the parity didn't show up again until re-adjusting the cables with 10+ tries and powerdowns. I'm afraid to power-down again now that they showed up
  3. I had to power down my server one last time to move it back to its orignal location, and I'm back to the same problem. Both parity's will not show. My previous diagnostics was outputted when they did show though.
  4. After opening up the server, I switched (1) cord, which I'm hoping was to my parity with another drive. I actually am not 100% sure if one of them went to a parity, but I'm assuming it is. After that, I started up the server and now everything is perfect. This is strange because originally two parity's were not showing, yet I'm using the same cords, just switched one cord with another, but still using the same cords. I am using an 8 port controller if it matters. SUPERMICRO AOC-SAS2LP-MV8 PCI-Express 2.0 x8 SATA / SAS 8-Port Controller Card https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816101792 I have also attached the new diagnostics. I have never encountered this issue until my parity check a night or so ago. tower-diagnostics-20190501-1335.zip EDIT# 1: After further review, I now have a new warning from my "Fix Common Problems" plugin that I haven't received in the past. Keep in mind this is the same hardware as day 1 Looking at the parity check on the "main" page, it found a total of 5 errors. How do I go about viewing and correcting the errors? Marvel Hard Drive Controller Installed
  5. Correct. I can't start up the array without the parity. I will open the server now and re-try the connections and re-post in a few minutes
  6. Not sure if this is important, but my Dashboard, no longer shows the third bar chart fro the flash log docker. It shows up as "Not available"
  7. Please see attached for the current diagnostics. tower-diagnostics-20190501-0903.zip
  8. I just had my end of the month parity check for both my (10 tb) parity hard drives and for some reason both my 10 tb parity's are no longer being shown on Unraid. After this, I did a reboot through Unraid to see if they're still showing up in the bios, and confirmed that they are and simply not showing up in Unraid after the parity check. Please help.
  9. If I navigate to Tools > System Log, I have the following line at the very bottom. Is this the problem? If so, how do I go about fixing it?
  10. How do I go about viewing the log? The log button in the top right will not load upon clicking it.
  11. With the command du -h /var/log/* 0 /var/log/btmp 0 /var/log/cron 0 /var/log/debug 56K /var/log/dmesg 16K /var/log/docker.log 4.0K /var/log/faillog 4.0K /var/log/lastlog 0 /var/log/libvirt/qemu 4.0K /var/log/libvirt 16K /var/log/maillog 0 /var/log/messages 0 /var/log/nfsd 56K /var/log/nginx 0 /var/log/packages 0 /var/log/pkgtools/removed_scripts 0 /var/log/pkgtools/removed_packages 0 /var/log/pkgtools 0 /var/log/plugins 0 /var/log/removed_packages 0 /var/log/removed_scripts 0 /var/log/samba/cores/winbindd 0 /var/log/samba/cores/smbd 0 /var/log/samba/cores/nmbd 0 /var/log/samba/cores 0 /var/log/samba 0 /var/log/scripts 0 /var/log/secure 0 /var/log/setup 0 /var/log/spooler 0 /var/log/swtpm/libvirt/qemu 0 /var/log/swtpm/libvirt 0 /var/log/swtpm 0 /var/log/syslog 127M /var/log/syslog.1 1.2M /var/log/syslog.2 8.0K /var/log/wtmp
  12. Are you sure its an (*)? It outputs the same result
  13. Can anyone help me resolve this issue? My flash log docker (2nd) bar is always red and showing 100%. The following information is outputted when I type the following in the terminal du -h /var/log 0 /var/log/swtpm/libvirt/qemu 0 /var/log/swtpm/libvirt 0 /var/log/swtpm 0 /var/log/samba/cores/winbindd 0 /var/log/samba/cores/smbd 0 /var/log/samba/cores/nmbd 0 /var/log/samba/cores 0 /var/log/samba 0 /var/log/plugins 0 /var/log/pkgtools/removed_scripts 0 /var/log/pkgtools/removed_packages 0 /var/log/pkgtools 56K /var/log/nginx 0 /var/log/nfsd 0 /var/log/libvirt/qemu 4.0K /var/log/libvirt 128M /var/log
  14. Gotcha, so I think what I was saying as correct. I woudnl't do that, but I was curious incase I wanted to clear disk2 and use it for something else. Looks like I understand now. Just don't mess with the original root folder, but I can transfer subfolders within the root from disk to disk. And this would work great copying a full disk to an external.
  15. It sounds like you already answered this, but I just want to confirm to make sure I understand it one last time. If I have a share folder (WORK) and it uses disk1, disk2, disk3 and I have a total of 10 disks. Are you saying that, since I have disk1 at 70%, disk2 at 20%, and disk3 at 50% full, I can simply enable disk shares, cut the 20% of files from disk 2 folder and move it to disk 3 folder? Thus not having an issue. And then of course, that would mean I could copy disk 3 folder as well, which would be at 70%, to my external hard drive As long as I don't copy/cut from disk to share folder or share folder to disk folder? If so, that is awesome.
  16. Can I still enable disk shares, if I elected to use shares instead? Also, what risk am I at in terms of doing this? I think I read somewhere a while ago that this was a bad idea because if I accidentally move a file to the disk instead of going through shares, it could destroy the data. Or am I wrong on this?
  17. I'm a past Flexraid user and in the past, I would just simply backup a full disk. Meaning if I had 10TB disk full of work files, I would simply sync my 10TB disk with an external 10TB disk and we're good. However, I'm struggling on the concept of backing up with my Unraid shares. Meaning, I have elected 3 - 10TB disks that to store work files separately and filled via most free/highwater so they're filled differently (70%, 22%, 55%). My work folder will show roughly 14tb, and I can't simply copy and paste this folder to a 10tb external for backup. Unless there is a way to backup individual disks, I don't know how to do this properly. I'm assuming there is a way to access the disks instead of shares, which would help with backing up full disks, however, I think I read somewhere to never do this because it can destroy your data if you accidentally move from a share to a disk. How would I back this up properly, whereas I know what hasn't been backup ed properly?
  18. I'm having issue with the amount of space shown on unraid for the amount of space I have used on one hard drive. I originally had 1TB of data on the 10 TB disk and I've since deleted the data, but the disk still shows as 1TB used. I have add 6TB overnight to this disk and it is now showing up as 7TB used on a 10TB drive. Am I missing something?
