while right-angle cables might hit the molex connectors, left-angle (yes, they make them) should be ok no?
-
so started the switch over. Decided to retain the 160gb as my cache drive since its a single platter drive thats brand new. should be very reliable and low power for 7200rpm.
however, it has all been reverted back to normal, the icy dock MB973 i got was DOA in bay #3. would recognize my WD20EARS 25% of the time, and when it did I got DMA I/O errors constantly in the console.
RMAing it for a replacement, 1 more attempt, then I'm getting it refunded.
any other 3in2 cages people recommend that are short like the icy dock 973? this is (for now) going in a Gen1 Antec P150

INITial CONFIGuration, got it, re-initialize array. thanks.
-
thanks Prostuff.
not concerned with lack of parity, only 50gB of data (build is only a few weeks old).
what is initconfig?
-
my current setup:
Parity - WD20EADS
Data1 - WD5000AKS
Data2 - WD5000AKS
Data3 - WD5000ADS
Cache - Seagate 160gb
unRAID Plus 4.7
addons: clean shutdown, transmission, unmenu, mover modifier (_ and sync), mail.
transmission is installed on /mnt/cache/.transmission
What I want to do is this:
assign drive change
Parity - WD20EADS >> no change
Disk1 - WD5000AKS >> no change
Disk2 - WD5000AKS >> no change
Disk3 - WD5000ADS >> cache
Cache - Seagate 160gb >> remove
Disk4 - WD20EARS >> new addition
Disk5 - WD20EARS >> new addition
Disk6 - WD20EARS >> new addition
in english, change the cache drive to the WD5000AADS as well as move the contents of the 160gb cache to this drive, add three WD20EARS.
data is only on Disk1 and Cache right now.
here's what I'm thinking the steps are.
1. stop array.
2. un-assign Disk 3 from the array.
3. recalculate parity and start array.
4. copy seagate cache to /mnt/disk3/ (what is the proper command to do this???)
4.1 tell user shares not to use cache.
5. un-assign seagate 160gb as cache.
6. assign disk3 as cache.
6.1 tell user shares to use cache.
7. remove seagate from system.
8. install the 3 new WD20EARS and assign as needed disk5/disk6/disk7.
do i have this right?

card seems like the only common thing causing issues. thats what I would do (replace card).

I don't get it. If the "auto install" is as easy as making a conf file .auto_install why can't the powerdown script do the opposite when called? Sure would make things cleaner.
-
how much ram do u have installed?
-
you could create a directory on your cache drive called ".\sonos" and access it by "\\tower\cache\.sonos\"
it will not be moved by Mover, and will remain on the cache drive.
-
you can purchase a key for 5b14. the key works for 4.7 and 5bx versions. just save the key so you dont lose it.
-
if your share is setup like this:
\\tower\media\tv shows\show\episode then a split level of 1 will keep all the shows on a single drive.
-
-
Otherwise to do spil level 2 you would want something like this
Media
Movies
Movie1
Movie2
TV Shows
TV show 1
TV show 2
Documentaries
Doc 1
Doc 2
correct, as this is what I have setup and it is working fine.
-
thanks, it was installed successfully, and works just fine!
I installed to /mnt/cache/.transmission
watch and incomplete folders are /mnt/cache/.torrents/watch | /downloads
when complete, files are moved to /mnt/user/media (cache drive enabled)
then the mover moves the files to the array each night.
thanks again prostuff.

looks like some I/O errors on ATA4. Check the cables, maybe one came loose while moving the server around (check power and sata)

I just finished reading through this entire thread (yes, all 35 pages). I admire the work prostuff and all have put into this package(s), so first off, a big thank you.
I have a clean install of unRaid Plus 4.7, and unmenu installed and working.
I have 3 data disks, 1 parity disk, and 1 cache disk installed and working.
my goal is to setup Transmission and get it working with the remote webui from google code. not really interested in couch potato or those at this time. Id rather hand pick my torrent files.
After reading the entire thread there are still some install questions/steps that are unclear to me.
1. i need to download all unmenu-conf files for libidn, curl, libevent, openldap, pycurl, glibc, and transmission from the first page of this thread, correct? all files are needed still?
2. change variables (i.e. install dir, watch dir, downloads dir, etc.) in the transmission conf file via unmenu BEFORE installing, but after downloading, correct?
3. do they need to be installed in a specific order via the unmenu interface?
4. the only one that needs to auto install on server reboot is transmission, correct?
-
they're both wrong 100%.
there's no way its a - and there's no way a micro tower is 19c. im sure ambient is more than that.
(Solved)disks do not show up in unraid, can see them in bios, need help.

indeed, you may have to change the SATA mode to Natice, or Enhanced instead of IDE or Compatible.
