  1. So, ive tried the wiki that hasnt been updated since someone invented electricity.

i've tried the forum but theres been a huge lack of response.

i've tried googling but every result seems as outdated as the wiki.

    now im out of ideas...

so i guess this is one last try before i go with some other solution than unraid where i can get help.

how would i know what to buy for my unraid build if i want all hardware to be compatible with unraid (as in raidcards, expansioncards, backplanes.. whatever)?

it will only serve as a storage. no vm, docker or any kind of serverapplications running other than sharing files over SMB.

and im going to use some kind of 24+ x HDD rackmounted chassi.

  2. So im thinking of buying a used supermicro, that has these specs:

    Chassi: Supermicro 4U SC846
    CPU: 2x Xeon E5-2620 6-core, 12 threads, Base 2.00GHz, Turbo 2.50GHz, 15MB cache
    Motherboard: X9DRi-F
    RAM: 64GB (8x8GB ) max 512GB (16x32GB DDR3 RDIMM)
Raidcontroller: 1x LSI MegaRAID SAS 9266-8i batterybackup
    Backplane: BPN-SAS2-846EL1 SAS Expander Backplane
    PSU: 2x1200W 80+ platinum

Would that work for unraid that are only gonna be used as a storage server? (no VM or stuff like that)

Or is it some hardware on that list that are incompatible with unraid?
Or some hardware that needs (serious) modification to work?

Or something else i missed that i should consider? (i know it lacks HDD's)

  3. ive outgrown my 8slot, 5slot and 4slot NAS'es. And realized that using a lot of different volumes isnt optimal for radarr/sonarr.

So im looking for good rack-mounted enclosure that fits 24+ HDD (or 72) that can use motherboards and sas/sata cards that works great with unraid.

so, something like supermicro and the likes..

I just dont want to feel that im running out of space anytime soon.

    anyone has suggestions?

(im from sweden, so id prefer if i got suggestions on enclosure that i actually can buy and not only available to US customers etc..)
