  1. I needed a new DAS shelf and came across a free Dell MD1200 with cables and caddies. In the process, they also gave me a PowerEdge R720. I already have UNRAID in a current system that works fine, just needed more room. The free hardware made me think I should maybe switch over and use the other hardware elsewhere. PowerEdge R720 specs: CPU: DUAL Intel Xeon E5-2665 2.40GHz, 20 M Cache, 8.0GT/s QPI, Turbo, 8 C, 115W, Max Mem 1600MHz RAM: 4x8GB RDIMM, 1600 MT/s, Standard Volt, Dual Rank PERC H710P Integrated RAID Controller, 1GB NV Cache PERC H810 RAID Adapter for External JBOD, 1Gb NV Cache 8 hot swap bays – 2 caddies Intel Ethernet I350 QP 1Gb Network Daughter Card + 4 port card Risers with up to 6, x8 PCIe S lots + 1, x16 PCIe Slot Current UNRAID: CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 2700X 8core @ 3700 MHZ Ram: 32GB Motherboard: MSI Gaming x470 PLUS GPU: GT 710 2GB SAS Expander: SAS9211-8i 4 Port Gig NIC Dockers used: Embyserver – 6-7 concurrent streams are typical Sonarr, Radarr, Prowlarr, Ombi, DelugeVPN, Sabnzbd, PhotoPrism HomeAssistant, Omada Controller, Krusader Future: VaultWarden I would need to add either a SAS-HBA with external ports or Dual Mini SAS SFF-8088 to SFF-8087 Adapter to make the MD1200 connect to the current UNRAID. If it wouldn’t make a difference or I would see less performance, I will stick to the current setup. If so, any other suggestions for the free hardware?
  2. That worked. Thank you JorgeB. For noobs like me, shut down the server, and delete the plugin from the flash drive on another PC. Boot server. My startup froze for a long time on starting Samba, but it finally started normally. I tried uninstalling the plugin from terminal in safe mode, but I couldn't get it to work.
  3. I am getting the following error on boot: mv: cannot stat '/usr/local/bin/mover': No such file or directory I had to reboot after my cache drive filled up and the mover didn't work. They initial error was so bad, I had to reinstall all my dockers. I was having issues with delugevpn and had to reboot. Now I can't boot my server. Any help is greatly appreciated.
  4. I appreciate the response. I have already begun the rebuild the best I can. I added a new zip drive, and put the drives back in the original order. Everything was empty. Answers to your question. 1. No. 2. Remote access to Emby, Sonarr, Radarr, Nextcloud through ports. 3. No. I can't get to system diagnostics as everything was deleted. The only things not deleted were some old unmounted unassigned drives that I used as temporary storage. Cache, Flash, and array was completely wiped. On my network, I made changes to delete all forwarded ports. I isolated my IP Cameras to their own network through my EdgeRouter by assigning a physical port to that network. I am working on getting my IOT switches, thermostat, etc... on their own VLAN, but that has proven more difficult. I would like to be able to access Emby, Sonarr, Radarr, etc. remotely, but I am a little gun shy now. Any advice there?
  5. For those of you wondering and on the fence about backing up your usb and going through all the issues of securing your network, I lost over 48TB of data that included children's pictures and my last conversation with my father. - I won't make that mistake again.
  6. Ok, all data was lost. I am in the process of rebuilding my unraid config and adding back dockers, etc... I have an EdgerouterX and I moved my security cameras to an isolated ethernet port. I created vlans, but I haven't quite understood how to move the IOT items to isolation on those. Are there any other steps I should be taking to protect my server. I do use Emby and would like to keep remote access, but I haven't forwarded that port yet.
  7. I will and I will report back. It may take some time to rebuild parity.
  8. I hate to start a new topic, but I am not getting any replies on the other. I am at a loss. This is the second flash drive in 2 days to lose information. When I pull the drive and put it in a windows machine, it is empty. All my data drives are empty. I have been using Unraid for 2 years and now I have lost everything. Can anyone help?
  9. After rebuilding the parity over night it has now errored to bad gateway 502 again.
  10. I was able to identify the parity drive using the unmountable method. I added other drives to the array and it is rebuilding the array. I run CA backup, so hopefully I will find a config and my data won’t be gone. I found an old configuration from 2019 where I was having network problems.
  11. I have added a new boot usb and I am in unraid. I started the array without assigning parity. All drives say unmountable.
  12. Today, I was unable to get into the GUI on my Unraid server. I have not updated to 6.9 yet. After reading forums, I decided to reboot. I had to use the power button because the system was froze and would not restart. At Reboot I get the FAILED TO LOAD LDLINUX.C32 error. I have put my USB drive in Windows and it looks empty. Running chkdsk I get: Windows has scanned the file system and found no problems. No further action is required. 30,028,448 KB total disk space. 32 KB in 2 hidden files. 16,688 KB in 4 files. 30,011,712 KB are available. 16,384 bytes in each allocation unit. 1,876,778 total allocation units on disk. 1,875,732 allocation units available on disk. Please Help!
  13. I had to redo the Wireguard authorization completely. The handshake dropped.
  14. I am using Wireguard and have been for a couple of weeks. The remote access was working great. As of today, I am now getting the error "UPnP: forwarding not set" Or UPnP: **.**.**.***:51820->192.168.0.166:51820/UDP Any ideas?

  16. New to Unraid and would like a little Sanity Check/Help/Direction on approach. You can view my specs below, but I just wanted some advice/opinion on what I might be missing out on. Here on things I want to do: Most important is Emby Server. I cannot seem to find a good guide to setting this up. I serve 2 ROKU TVs now, but this will likely change to 4 LAN ROKU TVs in the near future. I never could get outside the LAN to work, so I would like to do that. I think I need to run this through a VPN, but I don’t run any services or packages. I just play content I own stored on the drives. I also want to be able to access the Emby Server on portable devices such as iPhone, not opposed to purchasing Emby premiere or trying Jellyfin (if they Roku app is as good). I need to setup a VPN to control the server while off the LAN - @SpaceInvaderOne recommends PIA. Is it as good/better than Torguard? Setup Radaar/Sonaar – SpaceInvaderOne videos will cover this. Qbittorent or Deluge and VPN – I believe SpaceInvaderOne videos will cover this. I would like to add about 4 – 8 5MP-8MP CCTV cameras. I think Shinobi is recommended by SpaceInvaderOne. I know Blue Iris is the best, but it is resource heavy, and IPCamtalk is a little too hostile to ask questions especially involving VMs. Would this be too much bandwidth for this server? I would like to work with Home Assistant or some other recommended home automation software. I may give PFSense a go, but I may repurpose the old machine for that. Anything else I may be missing an opportunity on? BTW-Everything in my home network is hardwired CAT6. WiFi only covers gadgets like thermostats, garage door, etc. I just built a new Unraid server in our basement network closet and here are the specs: Case: Rosewill L4500 CPU: Ryzen 7 2700x MB: MSI X470 Ram: 32GB 3200 MHZ DDR4 GPU: GTX 710 2GB with FAN SAS Controller: SAS9211-8I flashed to IT USB: Sandisk Cruzer 32GB USB 2.0 Cache: 1TB Crucial MX500 SSD (connected to SATA) 4 x 8TB White Label WD HDD – (1-Parity, 3-Storage) Connected VIA SASController NIC: Onboard for now, on order: HP NC364T 4 Port Intel NIC PSU: Rosewill Glacier 700w Switches: 1 Unmanaged 24 Port Switch, I also have multiple CISCO and BlackBox Managed POE 48 Port Switches. I am moving files from an old windows machine that acted as a server. Its CPU was a i5-2400K with 5x 3TB drives (Mostly 7200 RPM Toshiba/Hitachi). It has served well over the 7-9 years. Its main functions have been serving 2 Roku TVs via Emby server, running KODI locally, qbittorrent, Sonarr, Radarr, and VPN through Torguard. I plan on moving the old HDDs into the new machine. (I may need a SAS expander). Sorry for the long post. Thanks for responding.
