Hello, I have seen this a few times, when i am unable to open a file that i have created on my server. If you look at the image i have attached that is the error i see when i try and open it in finder. If i ssh into the server this is the directory: Should the user not be root? Also how do i change this?

Can this be done on the command line? As i havent added it on the GUI.

Hello, I am trying to preclear a disk before putting it into the array however i am getting the follow error: How can i stop the device from being part of the array for pre_clearing?

Thanks it was SAB that was causing the issues. So from now on i will shut them all down before taking the array offline, then restart them AFTER the array is online! That way there hopefully wont be any issues! Or if there are...its not that...

Sorted. Issue has been resolved.

I followed the steps that you said. to stop erase the parity, however not it is claiming that one of the data disks is "unformatted". Is there anything that i can do now? Screenshot attached. It is now claiming that it does not know the "File System Type" of the HDD.

Hello, I have had an issue with my unRAID installation, so I installed a new installation of unRAID on a new USB. Before this issue i had three disks installed 2 of which were data, and i know all the information on them is ok. However now that i have booted the machine up again, it is seeing the 2nd data disk as a new disk, and therefore wants to format it, WHICH I DONT WANT TO DO. In the descirption when you are about to take the disks online it says: How do you do this so that the data on the two data disks are kept and the parity is rebuild instead of formatting the 2 data disks? SYSTEM: Version: 5 beta 14 - Clean installation.

I have just noticed that if you look on the MainPage Image from the zip in the post above that the disks are saying UNFORMATTED, which cant be a good thing... UPDATE: I have sorted the issue regarding the drive being displayed as unformatted. That occurred because i tried to change USB devices, and obv there is an issue with the new USB i am using, so ive reverted back to the first one. That being set i am still getting the issue regarding the shares not being available. When i look on unMENU everything looks ok, however on the normal GUI it says "start..." and no matter how much time i give it, it doesnt mount the disks properly.

Hello, Yesterday i was hit by a power but, before that everything was running correctly. However on reboot, the disks will not mount. I rebooted the server correctly the GUI becomes responsive, it asked to start the array so i did, however it then forced a parity check, which i allowed. After the parity check nothing happens the disks are still not mounted, and just sit there. View MainPage img in zip file found below. I then rebooted and the same occurred, so i allowed a full parity check the second time and the same happened. I then ran diagnostics on the disks and you can see the results in the images attached. However you can see they are all ok. I have attached the syslogs to this post. How can i mount the disks again? And what is the problem? Hello, I have just tried to upgrade my unRAID server however i have been told that my USB is to valid for registered as the GUID is not unique. Therefore i have to find another USB to use as the bootable device. The question i have is how do you migrate between devices? Do you simply formate the new USB as if you were creating it from scratch and then copy the content of my current installed USB onto it? If you could point me in the correct direction to a post or wiki post that would be great. Many Thanks

Ive just noticed a little bug, its nothing major and has probably been brought to up but i thought i would just put it forward. Issue: When starting the array only the refresh button is visible and not start, which is correct. However if you hit info or the logs button which then provides a pop up. Once you have closed it the Start button suddenly becomes visible as if you could hit it again, to start and already starting array. Screenshot attached

I am getting the following error when trying to execute a perl script: It then aborts and does not run the script. How do i fix this. I have seen some post that tell you to edit a lang.sh file on the following path: However the profile.d direcotory does not exist on my unRAID version 5 beta 14. Can anyone help. Many Thanks

Hello, I want to know if it would be possible to clean out my packages directory as it getting rather full. At the moment this is what is currently located in that directory:

I have done a bit of reading around the subject, and Im in exactly the same situation as you, as i only just booted up my first unRAID 4 days ago. Regarding the distribution of drives, the only think to keep in mind is if you are going to be using a cache drive, it has been said that they are best kept on the same controller, in your case it would prob be best to stick the parity drive and cache on you Mobo. Again i had this debat! What to go for, 4.7 is stable but 5beta* has all the new applications, so in the end ive gone for 5beta14. Im firstly installed all the addons i want. And that has been running perfectly for a day or so, then ive started to transfer data. At the moment im making sure all data is safe somewhere else. Until the point i have total confidence in beta14. Then i will take the plung, and add the extra drives to my array! However that is a choice you are going to have to make stabile build over new addons and functionality?! I dont think it comes included, however i installed unMENU and adding other apps is so easy, so if its not installed you wont have trouble. Heres a link to unMENU addons. I have tried to create a share on 5beta14 and it says: mkdir: cannot create directory '/mnt/user/TV': Read-only file system To create shares so that i can start to mount folder on my windows machines, im guessing this needs to be able to make directories in the /mnt folder? Correct?

Thank you very much, that solves one of the two issues! Now just to get the shares working so i can start testing 5beta14 before i move everything onto it. I will try again later in more depthand once completed i will report back here. Thanks for you help

Hello, I have just started up my unRAID server currently on 5beta14, with the free version as i only have parity (2TB), data1 (2TB). This is the first time i have used unRAID and i am having issues setting up users and share on my unRAID. I read that to create shares you have to: - Stop Array - Turn on shares - Start array - Create shares. However when i do this and press add and then done, nothing is displayed. Therefore the new share is not displayed. The same goes for users. For this i left the array running, tried to create a new user on top of the root, and nothing happens. Again i press add, then done, and the only user is the root. Am i doing something wrong? I have waited for the parity check to complete before trying this, so the array was in a stable state.

One more quick question does orange out of party-sync mean busy disk, aka disk in use??
