    I don't want anything for free...Does someone here want to buy my License?

    I can't use it if it will only use 1/2 of a $800 NUC's capabilities..sadly......It's very Nice OS besides that :( Although it does go totally against what Linux was founded for in the first place...Open Source and Free.....

    Just save it for your next build. You must of liked what you've seen and not have many issues if the only issue/complain is the compatibility issues with your GPU (which MAY get worked out in the future). The license is also a lifetime license which is the best thing to get when purchasing software. Specially around these times now that you even have BMW wanting to charge a subscription for their heated seats. Anyway, just save it. It may be the thing you need for your next build.

  2. I'm having this same error. How did you resolved it? Anyone care to point this out to me?

    I started to get it after having to use a different drive to run a direct windows install (without unraid, array disks were disconnected, but I did leave in the cache disk connected which I'm now regretting).

    If you change the VNC port in the XML to be a specific port instead of auto (which is the behaviour that you want, you want to connect to the same VM on the same port) and then sebsequently change any setting of the VM using the gui the port reverts back to the auto port, losing your nicely configured static port setting.

    We need to be able to show and set the port in the gui so that it can easily be configured to a static port and more importantly that the mapping isn’t lost when you make a GUI change.

    im forever having to go back and edit the XML to restore the vnc port.

    Welcome to anyone who's ever done an XML modification group lol

    Im just really poor thats all. Im not saying its not worth it. I dont even use new hardware on my unraid build I do have. I have to cobble together what I can and run with it. You guys all have your awesome setups with threadrippers etc so a license is pretty cheap compared to that.

    I don't have a system crazy like that... yet. I have re-purpose my old gaming rig. Recently purchase a SAS card for more drives, quad NIC for pfsense, and a rosewell server case and its getting to be a quite nice server. Trust me, its worth it.

    I hope you folks understand that you are buying a 'lifetime' license with free upgrades - I don't think this gets any better than this. When you put it in perspective of what the OS will be like in 5-10 years - think about the investment now.

    This! I will probably be buying 2-3 more licenses myself. A discount would be nice, but if not its fine. I L O V E lifetime software purchases.

    Maybe this would be a good time to reintroduce my idea for the cache and mover settings.

    Instead of cache yes no prefer only, how about mover jobs can specify source and destination, and shares specify initial placement.

    As an example, on the share settings, you would specify new files destination pool, and select which mover jobs to enable.

    The mover jobs would have time to start running, source pool, destination pool, file age restrictions, file size restrictions.

    So, a share could be configured to start on cache pool 1, and have a mover job that selects all files older than 5 days and smaller than 100MB move to pool 2 every week, and a mover job that moves all files in that share on pool 1 older than 30 days and larger than 100MB to the array every 3 weeks.

    Mover status could show which jobs are currently active, with cancel buttons.

    Yes, you could easily set up a loop where files get moved round robin and back again by accident (or on purpose). It would add a level of complexity that may be too much for some people, but with general settings that mimic the current yes no prefer only, I don't think it would be that bad, and would be WAY more intuitive than the current situation.

    Took 3 reads but I got it. I like your idea because I could then use this idea to implement something I've been wanting to do as linked above. Question, how is the age restriction suggested specified? Is it age since it was copied to unraid, last moved, or...? I would also like to add the option to "copy/overwrite" (with last modified) instead of move just in case the files being moved need to be duplicated for security purposes. "Pool 1 is raid 0, pool 2 is raid 1 / or disk array".

    You're correct, this can be rather confusing to some users as you mentioned. Maybe the current normal mover should stay how it is, and this could added as "advance mover settings".

    PS: We're totally not hijacking your thread Ed 😆

  7. I was actually about to request the same feature.

    In my use scenario, my server would have a lot of reads during the day, and maybe a handful of writes (as to when I move files to the server) and most of which aren't big enough to get my small SSD to half use. My cache doesn't see much use outside of that as I'm running the VM's on another SSD (as most people here).

    I would like to be able to select a folder and its sub-folders to be cached, maybe even the same disks that I've already have cache active on would work. (Allow exclusion folders to be selected? Auto exclude if (folder size greater than X limit OR files/folder + current cached size > limit/available space? IDK). If I play a song from an album located in one of the selected cache folders, I would like that the song and all of the other songs in the folder and sub-folders to be copied to the cache and then played from there. After an specified amount of time, 3? days, if they have not been accessed (file opened) then the cached files should be simply deleted from the SSD. This should just be an update part of mover, the files would still live in the Array. If I add a new file to this folder, it would just work as it does now, except that as I just recently "Accessed" the folder (to add the song), the mover would only copy it to the array at the normal specified time currently in the settings but leave it in the SSD. Another option to add to this would be a space limit to allow for this feature, perhaps a certain %.

    This would make better use of the cache IMO. Keep the drives from spinning up more and therefore life longer, maybe. A great performance boost to recently accessed files while keeping them safe. Lower I/O access usage. Allow for better and/or un-interrupted use of recent files/projects during a parity-check.

    You can have parity, of all the SSDs I tested only one had a couple of regular sync errors, the now descontinued Kingston SV300, I also have a small all SSD array with parity mostly for testing and without any issues.

    If using parity I recommend getting a faster SSD, more endurance will also be a plus, remember that parity will have many more writes than any other data device and even if/when LT adds trim support parity can never be trimmed, since it doesn't have a filesystem, I'm using one WD NVMe black for parity and 4 SATA WD Blue 3D devices for data, and I'm getting good performance so far, I'll see after a few months how the lack of trim degrades performance.

    I've wanted to ask if you've done any testing with a 4T or higher SSD, and how did it turned out? Any SSD's you would recommend for Parity? I appear to have a bottleneck on my parity drive and may need to upgrade to a faster drive, but if an SSD would safely work without issues I'll go with that.

  9. I think we should have a 'Create Shares Shortcut' button. This should allow me to create a share shortcut without making a new share. I would also like to apply new permissions on this shortcut. Example of share tree below:

    Media share -> Movies -> Kids movies

    Lets say; My movies folder has all the movies genre's in it, and I would like to allow a kid's computer to only have view access to the movies in the kids section and nothing else. You could simply create shortcut from 'Media share -> Movies -> Kids movies' to new path 'Kids movies' and give simply keep the permissions from the parent share by default. On the Users tab is here is where you would simply selected the user who will be allowed to read or read/write. To keep the shortcut shares separate and easily visible from the originals, they should be on their own section below with an additional column showing where they point to.

    SpaceInvader shows how to create one which you can find the link below, but I believe this should just be a nice button in the GUI.

  10. I would like to request the ability to log performance CPU/RAM usage for dockers/VM's/Unraid. This way, we can see how much they use on average and what they use/need when they peak. With this information it would help the user to properly assign cores by workload for optimal performance.

    Has anyone managed to solve this, aside from buying new hardware? I'm stuck in the same spot. Attempting to flash the FW doesn't work, same for the bios.

    I've tried every idea I've seen on here to no avail.

    As said above, we would need more details. However, if you're referring to the flashing process itself it SHOULD be pretty straight forward. It sounds like you've done plenty of research. If so, you should be able to do it within 1-2 hours. The process is pretty straight forward. If you can't get it to flash the reason can be from the card not being able to be flashes by your hardware or the card itself its soft 'locked' to not allow flashing to IT. I read that somewhere. Either way, I would strongly advice to save the large amount of time you're going to waste trying to figure this out as in the end it may still not work. I ultimately also returned the LSI Logic SAS 9207-8i and purchase the LSI 9217-8i 6Gbs SAS PCI-E 3.0 HBA FW. The seller below has this cards cheap, and already updated to the latest software and in IT mode. I've purchased 2 of them, they are perfect!

  12. If you're having issues with your pfSense only seen 1 port, then do the following.

    1) If you're looking for a guide go click here.

    2) Once you are in part 3 of the SpaceInvader video to edit the XML do the follow:

        A. Remove the following code, the 'interface'.

    Quote

        <interface type='bridge'>
          <mac address='##:##:##:##:##:a#'/>
          <source bridge='br0'/>
          <model type='virtio'/>
          <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x01' slot='0x00' function='0x0'/>
        </interface>

        B. Go to the bottom section and make sure the BUS and the SLOT is the same for the 4 'pci' ports as the 'pci' from the FIRST port.
        C. ADD "
    multifunction='on'" to the FIRST PCI (port).
        D. Make sure the Functions starting with 0, go in increasing number. Example 0,1,2,3.

    Quote

        <hostdev mode='subsystem' type='pci' managed='yes'>
          <driver name='vfio'/>
          <source>
            <address domain='0x0000' bus='0x07' slot='0x00' function='0x0'/>

          <alias name='hostdev0'/>
          <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x01' slot='0x00' function='0x0' multifunction='on'/>

  13. I'm getting the error below:

    Quote

    May 18 03:05:09 GuiltyGear kernel: BTRFS critical (device loop2): corrupt leaf: root=894 block=133775360 slot=93 ino=25650 file_offset=0, invalid ram_bytes for file extent, have 8208, should be aligned to 4096

    I think this is my cache drive, but I'm not sure and I'm also not sure on how to proceed with this. I recently had purchased bad RAM which caused many issues with UNRAID and corrupted 2 files which I just deleted after replacing the RAM. Apparently there is still some damage. Could you guys also take a quick look at my diagnostic file to see if anything else aside from the error above is damage/broken that I may have missed? Thank you!

    (edit) I scrub the cache drive and came back with no errors found.
    Also, I'd like to note that I originally had 4x4GB sticks, then upgraded to 4x8GB sticks. First set was bad which caused issues, then I changed it and the second set is working great. I've also ran a full 4 sets of Memtest86 to confirm.

  14. @BensonYea, after the first 'sas2flash.efi -o -e 6' nothing has actually worked after that, other than 'sas2flash.efi -listall' to see it.

    I literally been on this for about a week now and I'm done with this card. I bought and installed a LSI Logic SAS 9207-8i and is currently in FW Revision 18, already in IT mode. It did cost me $20 more; However the original is still within the return time frame so I will be returning it. I don't know about you, but when its been over a week and someone still can't flash a firmware, I would go ahead and call that defective.

    I think the latest version is 20, am I save to stay with the version it came in? Like security/issues wise?

    (edit) Man, I do kinda want to remove at least the ROM so I don't have to wait extra time booting up.. I know I'm being picky.

    May be you could try -o -e 7, but this will clear SASaddress too, you just need to set any address later or found the address on label.

    This is not working. It is asking that a firmware hostboot is required, and to enter one. I try entering the file name for the firmware and it throws an error.

    "selected adapter does not have valid firmware! Please run utility again and flash firmware.
    due to error remaining commands will not be executed.
    Unable to process commands.
    exiting sas2flash."

    Tried flashing again, and no dice.
